a4166340a6 Revert "i2c: imx: Remove unused .id_table support"
Coldfire platforms are non-DT users of this driver, so
keep the .id_table support.

This reverts commit c610199cd3.

61e6fe59ed i2c: imx: Don't generate STOP condition if arbitration has been lost
If arbitration is lost, the master automatically changes to slave mode.
I2SR_IBB may or may not be reset by hardware. Raising a STOP condition
by resetting I2CR_MSTA has no effect and will not clear I2SR_IBB.

So calling i2c_imx_bus_busy() is not required and would busy-wait until
timeout.

Additionally, the i2c_imx_isr() could wake up the wait queue
(imx_i2c_struct->queue) before its initialization happens.

The resource-managed framework should not be used for interrupt handling,
because the resource will be released too late - after disabling clocks.
The interrupt handler is not prepared for such case.

3a5ee18d2a i2c: imx: implement master_xfer_atomic callback
Rework the read and write code paths in the driver to support operation
in atomic contexts. To achieve this, the driver must not rely on IRQs
and not call schedule(), e.g. via a sleep routine, in these cases.

With this patch the driver supports normal operation, DMA transfers and
now the polling mode or also called sleep-free or IRQ-less operation. It
makes the code not simpler or easier to read, but atomic I2C transfers
are needed on some hardware configurations, e.g. to trigger reboots on
an external PMIC chip.

[ 153.320946] ---[ end trace a506731ccd9bd703 ]---

This endless clk warnings behaviour is well explained by Andrey Smirnov:

"Allocating DMA after registering I2C adapter can lead to infinite
probing loop, for example, consider the following scenario:

    1. i2c_imx_probe() is called and successfully registers an I2C
       adapter via i2c_add_numbered_adapter()

    2. As a part of i2c_add_numbered_adapter() new I2C slave devices
are added from DT which results in a call to
       driver_deferred_probe_trigger()

    3. i2c_imx_probe() continues and calls i2c_imx_dma_request() which
due to lack of proper DMA driver returns -EPROBE_DEFER

    4. i2c_imx_probe() fails, removes I2C adapter and returns
-EPROBE_DEFER, which places it into deferred probe list

    5. Deferred probe work triggered in #2 above kicks in and calls
i2c_imx_probe() again thus bringing us to step #1"

So revert commit e1ab9a468e ("i2c: imx: improve the error handling in
i2c_imx_dma_request()") and restore the old behaviour, in order to
avoid regressions on existing setups.

99cc7ad46b Merge branch 'i2c/for-4.19' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux
Pull i2c updates from Wolfram Sang:

 - the core has now a lockless variant of i2c_smbus_xfer. Some open
coded versions of this got removed in drivers. This also enables
   proper SCCB support in regmap.

 - locking got a more precise naming. i2c_{un}lock_adapter() had to go,
and we know use i2c_lock_bus() consistently with flags like
I2C_LOCK_ROOT_ADAPTER and I2C_LOCK_SEGMENT to avoid ambiguity.

 - the gpio fault injector got a new delicate testcase

 - the bus recovery procedure got fixed to handle the new testcase
   correctly

 - a new quirk flag for controllers not able to handle zero length
messages together with driver updates to use it

 - new drivers: FSI bus attached I2C masters, GENI I2C controller, Owl
   family S900

 - and a good set of driver improvements and bugfixes

For imx, i2c_imx_dma_write and i2c_imx_write are always called with a

fd8961c5ba i2c: imx: make bus recovery through pinctrl optional
Since commit 1c4b6c3bcf ("i2c: imx: implement bus recovery") the
driver starts to use gpio/pinctrl to support optional bus recovery
feature. But pinctrl is not always usable. There are platforms such
as ls1021a and ls1043a that don't support pinctrl, and it could just
be broken due to old/broken device tree. The patch makes it really
optional that the probe function won't bailout on pinctrl problems
instead it just disables bus recovery and prints out notification when
there is problem with pinctrl. Since pinctrl is only used by bus
recovery in this driver, move pinctrl initialization into bus recovery
init function to prevent confusion.

c552815312 i2c: imx: fix i2c resource leak with dma transfer
In i2c_imx_dma_xfer(), when dmaengine_submit() returns error,
the context goto label err_submit and then return. However, the
memory allocated for txdesc has not been freed yet, which
leads to resource leak.

588eb93ea4 i2c: imx: add runtime pm support to improve the performance
In our former i2c driver, i2c clk is enabled and disabled in
xfer function, which contributes to power saving. However,
the clk enable process brings a busy wait delay until the core
is stable. As a result, the performance is sacrificed.

To weigh the power consumption and i2c bus performance, runtime
pm is the good solution for it. The clk is enabled when a i2c
transfer starts, and disabled after a specifically defined delay.

If CONFIG_PM is disabled the net result of this patch is that the
clock is never disabled.

Without the patch the test case (many eeprom reads) executes with approx:
real 1m7.735s
user 0m0.488s
sys 0m20.040s

With the patch the same test case (many eeprom reads) executes with approx:
real 0m54.241s
user 0m0.440s
sys 0m5.920s
