Merge tag 'drm-for-v4.16' of git://people.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux
Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"This seems to have been a comparatively quieter merge window, I assume
due to holidays etc. The "biggest" change is AMD header cleanups, which
merge/remove a bunch of them. The AMD gpu scheduler is now being made generic
with the etnaviv driver wanting to reuse the code, hopefully other drivers
can go in the same direction.
Otherwise it's the usual lots of stuff in i915/amdgpu, not so much stuff
elsewhere.
Core:
- Add .last_close and .output_poll_changed helpers to reduce driver footprints
- Fix plane clipping
- Improved debug printing support
- Add panel orientation property
- Update edid derived properties at edid setting
- Reduction in fbdev driver footprint
- Move amdgpu scheduler into core for other drivers to use.
i915:
- Selftest and IGT improvements
- Fast boot prep work on IPS, pipe config
- HW workarounds for Cannonlake, Geminilake
- Cannonlake clock and HDMI2.0 fixes
- GPU cache invalidation and context switch improvements
- Display planes cleanup
- New PMU interface for perf queries
- New firmware support for KBL/SKL
- Geminilake HW workaround for perforamce
- Coffeelake stolen memory improvements
- GPU reset robustness work
- Cannonlake horizontal plane flipping
- GVT work
amdgpu/radeon:
- RV and Vega header file cleanups (lots of lines gone!)
- TTM operation context support
- 48-bit GPUVM support for Vega/RV
- ECC support for Vega
- Resizeable BAR support
- Multi-display sync support
- Enable swapout for reserved BOs during allocation
- S3 fixes on Raven
- GPU reset cleanup and fixes
- 2+1 level GPU page table
amdkfd:
- GFX7/8 SDMA user queues support
- Hardware scheduling for multiple processes
- dGPU prep work
rcar:
- Added R8A7743/5 support
- System suspend/resume support
sun4i:
- Multi-plane support for YUV formats
- A83T and LVDS support
msm:
- Devfreq support for GPU
tegra:
- Prep work for adding Tegra186 support

- HDMI2.0 and zpos support by using generic helpers
tilcdc:
- Misc fixes
omapdrm:
- Support memory bandwidth limits
- DSI command mode panel cleanups
- DMM error handling
exynos:
- drop the old IPP subdriver.
etnaviv:
- Occlusion query fixes
- Job handling fixes
- Prep work for hooking in gpu scheduler
armada:
- Move closer to atomic modesetting
- Allow disabling primary plane if overlay is full screen
imx:
- Format modifier support
- Add tile prefetch to PRE
- Runtime PM support for PRG
ast:
- fix LUT loading"

The bulk of these changes are preparation work and addition of support
for Tegra186. Currently only HDMI output (the primary output on Jetson
TX2) is supported, but the hardware is also capable of doing DSI and
DisplayPort.
Tegra DRM now also uses the atomic commit helpers instead of the open-
coded variant that was only doing half its job. As a bit of a byproduct
of the Tegra186 support the driver also gained HDMI 2.0 as well as zpos
property support.
Along the way there are also a few patches to clean up a few things and
fix minor issues.

The A83T has two video pipelines in parallel that looks quite similar to
the other SoCs.
The video planes are handled through a controller called the mixer, and the
video signal is then passed to the timing controller (TCON).
And while there is two instances of the mixers and TCONs, they have a
significant number of differences. The TCONs are quite easy to deal with,
one is supposed to generate TV (in the broader term, so including things
like HDMI) signals, the other one LCD (so RGB, LVDS, DSI) signals. And
while they are called TCON0 and TCON1 in the A83t datasheet, newer SoCs
call them TCON-TV and TCON-LCD, which seems more appropriate.
However, the mixers differ mostly by their capabilities, with some features
being available only in the first one, or the number of planes they expose,
but also through their register layout. And while the capabilities could be
represented as properties, the register layout differences would need to
express all the registers offsets as properties, which is usually quite
bad. Especially since documentation on that hardware block is close to
non-existent and we don't even have the list of all those registers in the
first place.
So let's call them mixer 0 and 1 in our compatibles, even though the name
is pretty bad...
At the moment, we only have tested the code on a board that has a single
display output, so we're leaving the tcon-tv and mixer1 out.

This updates the compatible string for a no-name LCD panel to
"vot,v220hf01a-t", "ilitek,ili9225".
The original bindings [1] were the generic "ilitek,ili9225-2.2in-176x220"
because I could not find a datasheet. However, after some more research,
I finally found one, so the actual vendor and model name are now known.
This previous bindings have not made it to the mainline kernel yet, so
this is not breaking backwards compatibility.
This is also following the precedence of the ILI9322 bindings [2] by using
the pattern "vendor,specific-system-config", "vendor,ip-part";

We add device tree files for a couple of additional SoCs in various areas:
Allwinner R40/V40 for entertainment, Broadcom Hurricane 2 for networking,
Amlogic A113D for audio, and Renesas R-Car V3M for automotive.
As usual, lots of new boards get added based on those and other SoCs:
- Actions S500 based CubieBoard6 single-board computer
- Amlogic Meson-AXG A113D based development board
- Amlogic S912 based Khadas VIM2 single-board computer
- Amlogic S912 based Tronsmart Vega S96 set-top-box
- Allwinner H5 based NanoPi NEO Plus2 single-board computer
- Allwinner R40 based Banana Pi M2 Ultra and Berry single-board computers
- Allwinner A83T based TBS A711 Tablet
- Broadcom Hurricane 2 based Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8
- Broadcom bcm47xx based Luxul XAP-1440/XAP-810/ABR-4500/XBR-4500
wireless access points and routers
- NXP i.MX51 based Zodiac Inflight Innovations RDU1 board
- NXP i.MX53 based GE Healthcare PPD biometric monitor
- NXP i.MX6 based Pistachio single-board computer
- NXP i.MX6 based Vining-2000 automotive diagnostic interface
- NXP i.MX6 based Ka-Ro TX6 Computer-on-Module in additional variants
- Qualcomm MSM8974 (Snapdragon 800) based Fairphone 2 phone
- Qualcomm MSM8974pro (Snapdragon 801) based Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet
- Realtek RTD1295 based set-top-boxes MeLE V9 and PROBOX2 AVA
- Renesas R-Car V3M (R8A77970) SoC and "Eagle" reference board
- Renesas H3ULCB and M3ULCB "Kingfisher" extension infotainment boards
- Renasas r8a7745 based iWave G22D-SODIMM SoM
- Rockchip rk3288 based Amarula Vyasa single-board computer
- Samsung Exynos5800 based Odroid HC1 single-board computer
For existing SoC support, there was a lot of ongoing work, as usual
most of that concentrated on the Renesas, Rockchip, OMAP, i.MX, Amlogic
and Allwinner platforms, but others were also active.
Rob Herring and many others worked on reducing the number of issues that
the latest version of 'dtc' now warns about. Unfortunately there is still
a lot left to do.
A rework of the ARM foundation model introduced several new files
for common variations of the model.

Now that drm/msm is converted over to use msm_get_clk() everywhere (that
matters), which handles falling back to looking for a clock with the
"_clk" suffix, we can remove "_clk" from the documentation so that new
dts files added do not include "_clk" in the name.
Previously we were doing this for the more recently upstreamed bindings
but not for (nearly) all.

This contains a bit of cleanup and some minor fixes for the host1x and
Tegra DRM drivers. There's also some more preparatory work for Tegra186
support which I'm not quite ready to send upstream because the GPIO
driver needed for HDMI support has been stuck for months, and we can't
do much without it. Hopefully that driver will land in v4.15, which
would mean we could go ahead with Tegra186 display support in v4.16.

The A20 display pipeline has 2 frontends, 2 backends, and 2 TCONs.
This patch adds support (or a compatible string in the frontend's
case) for these components.
The TCONs support directly outputting to CPU/RGB/LVDS LCD panels,
or it can output to HDMI via an on-chip HDMI controller, or
CVBS/YPbPr/VGA signals via on-chip TV encoders. These additional
encoders are not covered in this patch.

The A10 display pipeline has 2 frontends, 2 backends, and 2 TCONs.

The HDMI controller in the A10 SoC is the same as the one currently
supported in the A10s. It has slightly different setup parameters.
Since these parameters are not thoroughly understood, we add support
for this variant by copying these parameters verbatim.

The A10 has two TCONs that are similar to the ones found on other SoCs.
Like the A31, TCON0 has a register used to mux the TCON outputs to the
downstream encoders. The bit fields are slightly different.
