lmc_trace() was first introduced in commit e7a392d5158af ("Import
2.3.99pre6-5") and was not touched ever since.
The reason for looking at this was to get rid of the in_interrupt() usage,
but while looking at it the following observations were made:
- At least lmc_get_stats() (->ndo_get_stats()) is invoked with disabled
preemption which is not detected by the in_interrupt() check, which
would cause schedule() to be called from invalid context.
- The code is hidden behind #ifdef LMC_TRACE which is not defined within
the kernel and wasn't at the time it was introduced.
- Three jiffies don't match 50ms. msleep() would be a better match which
would also avoid the schedule() invocation. But why have it to begin
with?
- Nobody would do something like this today. Either netdev_dbg() or
trace_printk() or a trace event would be used. If only the functions
related to this driver are interesting then ftrace can be used with
filtering.
As it is obviously broken for years, simply remove it.

dev_consume_skb_irq() should be called in lmc_interrupt() when skb
xmit done. It makes drop profiles(dropwatch, perf) more friendly.

Current value for a target abort error is 0x010, however, this value
should in fact be 0x002. As it stands, the range of error is 0..7 so
it is currently never being detected. This bug has been in the driver
since the early 2.6.12 days (or before).

Use managed resource functions devm_kzalloc and pcim_enable_device
to simplify error handling. Subsequently, remove unnecessary
kfree, pci_disable_device and pci_release_regions.
To be compatible with the change, various gotos are replaced with
direct returns and unneeded labels are dropped.
Also, `sc` was only being freed in the probe function and not the
remove function before the change. By using devm_kzalloc this patch
also fixes this memory leak.

We should prefer `struct pci_device_id` over `DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE` to
meet kernel coding style guidelines. This issue was reported by checkpatch.

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a
left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to
code getting copied from one driver to the next.

has been submitted separately.

The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release
or on probe failure. Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the
device driver data to NULL.

The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up
the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of
them back up to be properly aligned.
Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice
surprise.

Now that core network takes care of trans_start updates, dont do it
in drivers themselves, if possible. Drivers can avoid one cache miss
(on dev->trans_start) in their start_xmit() handler.

This patch converts the remaining occurences of raw return values to their
symbolic counterparts in ndo_start_xmit() functions that were missed by the
previous automatic conversion.
Additionally code that assumed the symbolic value of NETDEV_TX_OK to be zero
is changed to explicitly use NETDEV_TX_OK.

The generic packet receive code takes care of setting
netdev->last_rx when necessary, for the sake of the
bonding ARP monitor.
Drivers need not do it any more.
Some cases had to be skipped over because the drivers
were making use of the ->last_rx value themselves.

The syncppp layer wants a mid-level netdev private pointer.
It was using netdev->priv but that only worked by accident,
and thus this scheme was broken when the device private
allocation strategy changed.
Add a proper mid-layer private pointer for uses like this,
update syncppp and all users, and remove the HDLC_PPP broken
tag from drivers/net/wan/Kconfig
