Backmerge to get things better in sync. Conflicts: - Tiny conflict in drm_fbdev_generic.c between variable rename and missing error handling that got added. - Conflict in drm_fb_helper.c between the added call to vgaswitcheroo in drm_fb_helper_single_fb_probe and a refactor patch that extracted lots of helpers and incidentally removed the dev local variable. Readd it to make things compile. Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> |

drm/meson: dw-hdmi: Fix devm_regulator_*get_enable*() conversion
devm_regulator_get_enable_optional() function returns 0 on success, so use it for the check if function succeeded instead of the -ENODEV value. drm/meson: Reduce the FIFO lines held when AFBC is not used
Having a bigger number of FIFO lines held after vsync is only useful to SoCs using AFBC to give time to the AFBC decoder to be reset, configured and enabled again. For SoCs not using AFBC this, on the contrary, is causing on some displays issues and a few pixels vertical offset in the displayed image. Conditionally increase the number of lines held after vsync only for SoCs using AFBC, leaving the default value for all the others. Fixes: 24e0d4058eff ("drm/meson: hold 32 lines after vsync to give time for AFBC start") Signed-off-by: Carlo Caione <ccaione@baylibre.com> Acked-by: Martin Blumenstingl <martin.blumenstingl@googlemail.com> Acked-by: Neil Armstrong <neil.armstrong@linaro.org> [narmstrong: added fixes tag] Signed-off-by: Neil Armstrong <neil.armstrong@linaro.org> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20221216-afbc_s905x-v1-0-033bebf780d9@baylibre.com |

drm/fb-helper: Move generic fbdev emulation into separate source file
Move the generic fbdev implementation into its own source and header file. Adapt drivers. No functional changes, but some of the internal helpers have been renamed to fit into the drm_fbdev_ naming scheme. v3: * rename drm_fbdev.{c,h} to drm_fbdev_generic.{c,h} * rebase onto vmwgfx changes * rebase onto xlnx changes * fix include statements in amdgpu Signed-off-by: Thomas Zimmermann <tzimmermann@suse.de> Reviewed-by: Javier Martinez Canillas <javierm@redhat.com> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20221103151446.2638-22-tzimmermann@suse.de |

drm/meson: Fix return type of meson_encoder_cvbs_mode_valid()
With clang's kernel control flow integrity (kCFI, CONFIG_CFI_CLANG), indirect call targets are validated against the expected function pointer prototype to make sure the call target is valid to help mitigate ROP attacks. If they are not identical, there is a failure at run time, which manifests as either a kernel panic or thread getting killed. A proposed warning in clang aims to catch these at compile time, which reveals: drivers/gpu/drm/meson/meson_encoder_cvbs.c:211:16: error: incompatible function pointer types initializing 'enum drm_mode_status (*)(struct drm_bridge *, const struct drm_display_info *, const struct drm_display_mode *)' with an expression of type 'int (struct drm_bridge *, const struct drm_display_info *, const struct drm_display_mode *)' [-Werror,-Wincompatible-function-pointer-types-strict] .mode_valid = meson_encoder_cvbs_mode_valid, ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 error generated. ->mode_valid() in 'struct drm_bridge_funcs' expects a return type of 'enum drm_mode_status', not 'int'. Adjust the return type of meson_encoder_cvbs_mode_valid() to match the prototype's to resolve the warning and CFI failure. drm/meson: remove drm bridges at aggregate driver unbind time
drm bridges added by meson_encoder_hdmi_init and meson_encoder_cvbs_init were not manually removed at module unload time, which caused dangling references to freed memory to remain linked in the global bridge_list. When loading the driver modules back in, the same functions would again call drm_bridge_add, and when traversing the global bridge_list, would end up peeking into freed memory. Once again KASAN revealed the problem: [ +0.000095] ============================================================= [ +0.000008] BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in __list_add_valid+0x9c/0x120 [ +0.000018] drm/meson: explicitly remove aggregate driver at module unload time
Because component_master_del wasn't being called when unloading the meson_drm module, the aggregate device would linger forever in the global aggregate_devices list. That means when unloading and reloading the meson_dw_hdmi module, component_add would call into try_to_bring_up_aggregate_device and find the unbound meson_drm aggregate device. This would in turn dereference some of the aggregate_device's struct entries which point to memory automatically freed by the devres API when unbinding the aggregate device from meson_drv_unbind, and trigger an use-after-free bug: [ +0.000014] ============================================================= [ +0.000007] BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in find_components+0x468/0x500 [ +0.000017] Read of ================================================================== The reason this is happening is unloading meson-dw-hdmi will cause the component API to take down the aggregate device, which in turn will cause all devres-managed memory to be freed, including the struct dw_hdmi allocated in dw_hdmi_probe. This struct embeds a struct drm_bridge that is added at the end of the function, and which is later on picked up in meson_encoder_hdmi_init. However, when attaching the bridge to the encoder created in meson_encoder_hdmi_init, it's linked to the encoder's bridge chain, from where it never leaves, even after devres_release_group is called when the driver's components are unbound and the embedding structure freed. Then, when calling drm_dev_put in the aggregate driver's unbind function, drm_bridge_detach is called for every single bridge linked to the encoder, including the one whose memory had already been deallocated. Fix by calling component_unbind_all after drm_dev_put. drm/meson: Fix OSD1 RGB to YCbCr coefficient
VPP_WRAP_OSD1_MATRIX_COEF22.Coeff22 is documented as being bits 0-12, not 16-28. Without this the output tends to have a pink hue, changing it results in better color accuracy. The vendor kernel doesn't use this register. However the code which sets VIU2_OSD1_MATRIX_COEF22 also uses bits 0-12. There is a slightly different style of registers for configuring some of the other matrices, which do use bits 16-28 for this coefficient, but those have names ending in MATRIX_COEF22_30, and this is not one of those. drm/gem: rename struct drm_gem_dma_object.{paddr => dma_addr}
The field paddr of struct drm_gem_dma_object holds a DMA address, which might actually be a physical address. However, depending on the platform, it can also be a bus address or a virtual address managed by an IOMMU. Hence, rename the field to dma_addr, which is more applicable. Driver core changes for 5.18-rc1
Here is the set of driver core changes for 5.18-rc1. Not much here, primarily it was a bunch of cleanups and small updates: - kobj_type cleanups for default_groups - documentation updates - firmware loader minor changes - component common helper added and take advantage of it in many drivers (the largest part of this pull request). There will be a merge conflict in drivers/power/supply/ab8500_chargalg.c with your tree, the merge conflict should be easy (take all the changes). Add support for the OSD1 HDR registers so meson DRM can handle the HDR properties set by Amlogic u-boot on G12A and newer devices which result in blue/green/pink colour distortion to display output. This takes the original patch submissions from Mathias [0] and [1] with corrections for formatting and the missing description and attribution needed for merge. drm/meson: Convert to Linux IRQ interfaces
Drop the DRM IRQ midlayer in favor of Linux IRQ interfaces. DRM's IRQ helpers are mostly useful for UMS drivers. Modern KMS drivers don't benefit from using it.
