d0788ce492 mtd: physmap_of: Add "no-unaligned-direct-access" DT property
On some platforms (e.g. MPC5200) a direct 1:1 mapping may cause
problems with JFFS2 usage, as the local bus (LPB) doesn't support
unaligned accesses as implemented in the JFFS2 code via memcpy().
By defining "no-unaligned-direct-access", the flash will not be
exposed directly to the MTD users (e.g. JFFS2) any more.

450cc20103 x86/mce: Provide boot argument to honour bios-set CMCI threshold
The ACPI spec doesn't provide for a way for the bios to pass down
recommended thresholds to the OS on a _per-bank_ basis. This patch adds
a new boot option, which if passed, tells Linux to use CMCI thresholds
set by the bios.

As fail-safe, we initialize threshold to 1 if some banks have not been
initialized by the bios and warn the user.

62ac665ff9 blockdev: turn a rw semaphore into a percpu rw semaphore
This avoids cache line bouncing when many processes lock the semaphore
for read.

New percpu lock implementation

The lock consists of an array of percpu unsigned integers, a boolean
variable and a mutex.

When we take the lock for read, we enter rcu read section, check for a
"locked" variable. If it is false, we increase a percpu counter on the
current cpu and exit the rcu section. If "locked" is true, we exit the
rcu section, take the mutex and drop it (this waits until a writer
finished) and retry.

Unlocking for read just decreases percpu variable. Note that we can
unlock on a difference cpu than where we locked, in this case the
counter underflows. The sum of all percpu counters represents the number
of processes that hold the lock for read.

When we need to lock for write, we take the mutex, set "locked" variable
to true and synchronize rcu. Since RCU has been synchronized, no
processes can create new read locks. We wait until the sum of percpu
counters is zero - when it is, there are no readers in the critical
section.

13511def87 regulator: deprecate regulator-compatible DT property
When the bindings for the TPS6586x regulator were being proposed, I

words, that each node providing regulator init data should be named
after the type of object it represented ("regulator") and hence that
some other property was required to indicate which regulator the node
described ("regulator-compatible"). In turn this led to multiple nodes
having the same name, thus requiring node names to use a unit address
to make them unique, thus requiring reg properties within the nodes and

However, subsequent discussion indicates that the rules I was asserting
only applies to standardized bus nodes, and within a device's own node,
the binding can basically do anything sane that it wants.

Hence, this change deprecates the register-compatible property, and
instead uses node names to replace this functionality. This greatly
simplifies the device tree content, making them smaller and more legible.

The code is changed such that old device trees continue to work.

39a6ac11df spi/pl022: Devicetree support w/o platform data
Even with devicetree support, we needed platform data to provide some data,
leading to mixed device tree and platform data. This patch makes it possible to
provide all that information via device tree. Now, the data must be provided
via platform data _or_ device tree completely.

Only in case of DMA where a callback specification is necessary (dma_filter()),
platform data is the only option.
