A summary of the flags being set for various drivers is given below.
Note that XDP_F_REDIRECT_TARGET and XDP_F_FRAG_TARGET are features
that can be turned off and on at runtime. This means that these flags
may be set and unset under RTNL lock protection by the driver. Hence,
READ_ONCE must be used by code loading the flag value.
Also, these flags are not used for synchronization against the availability
of XDP resources on a device. It is merely a hint, and hence the read
may race with the actual teardown of XDP resources on the device. This
may change in the future, e.g. operations taking a reference on the XDP
resources of the driver, and in turn inhibiting turning off this flag.
However, for now, it can only be used as a hint to check whether device
supports becoming a redirection target.

Make sure that xdp_do_flush() is always executed before
napi_complete_done(). This is important for two reasons. First, a
redirect to an XSKMAP assumes that a call to xdp_do_redirect() from
napi context X on CPU Y will be followed by a xdp_do_flush() from the
same napi context and CPU. This is not guaranteed if the
napi_complete_done() is executed before xdp_do_flush(), as it tells
the napi logic that it is fine to schedule napi context X on another
CPU. Details from a production system triggering this bug using the
veth driver can be found following the first link below.
The second reason is that the XDP_REDIRECT logic in itself relies on
being inside a single NAPI instance through to the xdp_do_flush() call
for RCU protection of all in-kernel data structures. Details can be
found in the second link below.

devlink_param_driverinit_value_set() call makes sense only for "
driverinit" params. However here, the param is "runtime".
devlink_param_driverinit_value_set() returns -EOPNOTSUPP in such case
and does not do anything. So remove the pointless call to
devlink_param_driverinit_value_set() entirely.

By default, qed_mcp_cmd_and_union() delays 10us at a time in a loop
that can run 500K times, so calls to qed_mcp_nvm_rd_cmd()
may block the current thread for over 5s.
We observed thread scheduling delays over 700ms in production,
with stacktraces pointing to this code as the culprit.
qed_mcp_trace_dump() is called from ethtool, so sleeping is permitted.
It already can sleep in qed_mcp_halt(), which calls qed_mcp_cmd().
Add a "can sleep" parameter to qed_find_nvram_image() and
qed_nvram_read() so they can sleep during qed_mcp_trace_dump().
qed_mcp_trace_get_meta_info() and qed_mcp_trace_read_meta(),
called only by qed_mcp_trace_dump(), allow these functions to sleep.
I can't tell if the other caller (qed_grc_dump_mcp_hw_dump()) can sleep,
so keep b_can_sleep set to false when it calls these functions.
An example stacktrace from a custom warning we added to the kernel
showing a thread that has not scheduled despite long needing resched:

adapter->dcb would get silently freed inside qlcnic_dcb_enable() in
case qlcnic_dcb_attach() would return an error, which always happens
under OOM conditions. This would lead to use-after-free because both
of the existing callers invoke qlcnic_dcb_get_info() on the obtained
pointer, which is potentially freed at that point.
Propagate errors from qlcnic_dcb_enable(), and instead free the dcb
pointer at callsite using qlcnic_dcb_free(). This also removes the now
unused qlcnic_clear_dcb_ops() helper, which was a simple wrapper around
kfree() also causing memory leaks for partially initialized dcb.

BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in __build_skb_around+0x235/0x340 net/core/skbuff.c:294
Write of size 32 at addr ffff88802aa172c0 by task syz-executor413/5295
For bpf_prog_test_run_skb(), which uses a kmalloc()ed buffer passed to
build_skb().
When build_skb() is passed a frag_size of 0, it means the buffer came
from kmalloc. In these cases, ksize() is used to find its actual size,
but since the allocation may not have been made to that size, actually
perform the krealloc() call so that all the associated buffer size
checking will be correctly notified (and use the "new" pointer so that
compiler hinting works correctly). Split this logic out into a new
interface, slab_build_skb(), but leave the original 0 checking for now
to catch any stragglers.

The driver name is available in device_driver::name. Right now,
drivers still have to report this piece of information themselves in
their devlink_ops::info_get callback function.
In order to factorize code, make devlink_nl_info_fill() add the driver
name attribute.
Now that the core sets the driver name attribute, drivers are not
supposed to call devlink_info_driver_name_put() anymore. Remove
devlink_info_driver_name_put() and clean-up all the drivers using this

For the first warning, `i` is a u32 which is much wider than the format
specifier `%hhd` describes. This results in a loss of bits after 2^7.
The second warning involves implicit integer promotion as the resulting
type of addition cannot be smaller than an int.
example:
``

int size = sizeof(a + b - 1);
printf("%d\n", size);

test_bit() tests if one bit is set or not.
Here the logic seems to check of bit QL_RESET_PER_SCSI (i.e. 4) OR bit
QL_RESET_START (i.e. 3) is set.
In fact, it checks if bit 7 (4 | 3 = 7) is set, that is to say
QL_ADAPTER_UP.
This looks harmless, because this bit is likely be set, and when the
ql_reset_work() delayed work is scheduled in ql3xxx_isr() (the only place
that schedule this work), QL_RESET_START or QL_RESET_PER_SCSI is set.
This has been spotted by smatch.

Calling synchronize_irq() right before free_irq() is quite useless. On one
hand the IRQ can easily fire again before free_irq() is entered, on the
other hand free_irq() itself calls synchronize_irq() internally (in a race
condition free way), before any state associated with the IRQ is freed.

qed_roce_stop() calls bitmap_weight() to check if any bit of a given
bitmap is set. We can do it more efficiently with bitmap_empty() because
bitmap_empty() stops traversing the bitmap as soon as it finds first set
bit, while bitmap_weight() counts all bits unconditionally.

qed_rdma_bmap_free() is mostly an opencoded version of printk("%*pb").
Using %*pb format simplifies the code, and helps to avoid inefficient
usage of bitmap_weight().
While here, reorganize logic to avoid calculating bmap weight if check
is false.

qed_nvmetcp_ip_services.c and its corresponding header file were
introduced in commit 806ee7f81a ("qed: Add IP services APIs support")
but there's still no users for any of the functions they declare.
Since these files are effectively unused, let's just drop them.
Found by code inspection. Compile-tested only.

The define for_each_pci_dev(d) is:
while ((d = pci_get_device(PCI_ANY_ID, PCI_ANY_ID, d)) != NULL)
Thus, the list iterator 'd' is always non-NULL so it doesn't need to
be checked. So just remove the unnecessary NULL check. Also remove the
unnecessary initializer because the list iterator is always initialized.

qede_build_skb() assumes build_skb() always works and goes straight
to skb_reserve(). However, build_skb() can fail under memory pressure.
This results in a kernel panic because the skb to reserve is NULL.
Add a check in case build_skb() failed to allocate and return NULL.
The NULL return is handled correctly in callers to qede_build_skb().

To fix a coverity complain, commit d5ac07dfbd
("qed: Initialize debug string array") removed "sw-platform"
(one of the common global parameters) from the dump as this
was used in the dump with an uninitialized string, however
it did not reduce the number of common global parameters
which caused the incorrect (unable to parse) register dump
this patch fixes it with reducing NUM_COMMON_GLOBAL_PARAMS
bye one.

Core
----
- Introduce XDP multi-buffer support, allowing the use of XDP with
jumbo frame MTUs and combination with Rx coalescing offloads (LRO).
- Speed up netns dismantling (5x) and lower the memory cost a little.
Remove unnecessary per-netns sockets. Scope some lists to a netns.
Cut down RCU syncing. Use batch methods. Allow netdev registration
to complete out of order.
- Support distinguishing timestamp types (ingress vs egress) and
maintaining them across packet scrubbing points (e.g. redirect).
- Continue the work of annotating packet drop reasons throughout
the stack.
- Switch netdev error counters from an atomic to dynamically
allocated per-CPU counters.
- Rework a few preempt_disable(), local_irq_save() and busy waiting
sections problematic on PREEMPT_RT.
- Extend the ref_tracker to allow catching use-after-free bugs.
BPF
---
- Introduce "packing allocator" for BPF JIT images. JITed code is
marked read only, and used to be allocated at page granularity.
Custom allocator allows for more efficient memory use, lower
iTLB pressure and prevents identity mapping huge pages from
getting split.
- Make use of BTF type annotations (e.g. __user, __percpu) to enforce
the correct probe read access method, add appropriate helpers.
- Convert the BPF preload to use light skeleton and drop
the user-mode-driver dependency.
- Allow XDP BPF_PROG_RUN test infra to send real packets, enabling
its use as a packet generator.
- Allow local storage memory to be allocated with GFP_KERNEL if called
from a hook allowed to sleep.
- Introduce fprobe (multi kprobe) to speed up mass attachment (arch
bits to come later).
- Add unstable conntrack lookup helpers for BPF by using the BPF
kfunc infra.
- Allow cgroup BPF progs to return custom errors to user space.
- Add support for AF_UNIX iterator batching.
- Allow iterator programs to use sleepable helpers.
- Support JIT of add, and, or, xor and xchg atomic ops on arm64.
- Add BTFGen support to bpftool which allows to use CO-RE in kernels
without BTF info.
- Large number of libbpf API improvements, cleanups and deprecations.
Protocols
---------
- Micro-optimize UDPv6 Tx, gaining up to 5% in test on dummy netdev.
- Adjust TSO packet sizes based on min_rtt, allowing very low latency
links (data centers) to always send full-sized TSO super-frames.
- Make IPv6 flow label changes (AKA hash rethink) more configurable,
via sysctl and setsockopt. Distinguish between server and client
behavior.
- VxLAN support to "collect metadata" devices to terminate only
configured VNIs. This is similar to VLAN filtering in the bridge.
- Support inserting IPv6 IOAM information to a fraction of frames.
- Add protocol attribute to IP addresses to allow identifying where
given address comes from (kernel-generated, DHCP etc.)
- Support setting socket and IPv6 options via cmsg on ping6 sockets.
- Reject mis-use of ECN bits in IP headers as part of DSCP/TOS.
Define dscp_t and stop taking ECN bits into account in fib-rules.
- Add support for locked bridge ports (for 802.1X).
- tun: support NAPI for packets received from batched XDP buffs,
doubling the performance in some scenarios.
- IPv6 extension header handling in Open vSwitch.
- Support IPv6 control message load balancing in bonding, prevent
neighbor solicitation and advertisement from using the wrong port.
Support NS/NA monitor selection similar to existing ARP monitor.
- SMC
- improve performance with TCP_CORK and sendfile()
- support auto-corking
- support TCP_NODELAY
- MCTP (Management Component Transport Protocol)
- add user space tag control interface
- I2C binding driver (as specified by DMTF DSP0237)
- Multi-BSSID beacon handling in AP mode for WiFi.
- Bluetooth:
- handle MSFT Monitor Device Event
- add MGMT Adv Monitor Device Found/Lost events
- Multi-Path TCP:
- add support for the SO_SNDTIMEO socket option
- lots of selftest cleanups and improvements
- Increase the max PDU size in CAN ISOTP to 64 kB.
Driver API
----------
- Add HW counters for SW netdevs, a mechanism for devices which
offload packet forwarding to report packet statistics back to
software interfaces such as tunnels.
- Select the default NIC queue count as a fraction of number of
physical CPU cores, instead of hard-coding to 8.
- Expose devlink instance locks to drivers. Allow device layer of
drivers to use that lock directly instead of creating their own
which always runs into ordering issues in devlink callbacks.
- Add header/data split indication to guide user space enabling
of TCP zero-copy Rx.
- Allow configuring completion queue event size.
- Refactor page_pool to enable fragmenting after allocation.
- Add allocation and page reuse statistics to page_pool.
- Improve Multiple Spanning Trees support in the bridge to allow
reuse of topologies across VLANs, saving HW resources in switches.
- DSA (Distributed Switch Architecture):
- replay and offload of host VLAN entries
- offload of static and local FDB entries on LAG interfaces
- FDB isolation and unicast filtering

Variable index is being assigned a value that is never read, it is being
re-assigned later in a following for-loop. The assignment is redundant
and can be removed.
Cleans up clang scan build warning:

Although the value stored to 'index' is used in the enclosing expression,
the value is never actually read from 'index' [deadcode.DeadStores]
