0d0352d8b3 selftests/ftrace: Fix synthetic event test to delete event correctly
Fix the synthetic event test case to remove event correctly.
If redirecting command to synthetic_event file without append
mode, it cleans up all existing events and execute (parse) the
command. This means "delete event" always fails to find the
target event.

Since previous synthetic event has a bug which doesn't return
-ENOENT even if it fails to find the deleting event, this test
passed. But fixing that bug, this test fails because this test
itself has a bug.

This fixes that bug by trying to delete event right after
adding an event, and use append mode redirection ('>>') instead
of normal redirection ('>').

922a418d68 ftrace/selftest: Fix reset_trigger() to handle triggers with filters
The reset_trigger() function breaks up the command by a space ' '. This is
useful to ignore the '[active]' word for triggers when removing them. But if
the trigger has a filter (ie. "if prio < 10") then the filter needs to be
attached to the line that is written into the trigger file to remove it. But
the truncation removes the filter and the triggers are not cleared properly.

Before, reset_trigger() did this:

 # echo 'hist:keys=common_pid if prev_prio < 10' > events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
 # echo 'hist:keys=common_pid if next_prio < 10' >> events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
 # cat events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048 if prev_prio < 10 [active]
hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048 if next_prio < 10 [active]

 reset_trigger() {
   echo '!hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048' >> events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
 }

 # cat events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048 if prev_prio < 10 [active]
hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048 if next_prio < 10 [active]

After, where it includes the filter:

 reset_trigger() {
   echo '!hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048 if prev_prio < 10' >> events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
 }

 # cat events/sched/sched_switch/trigger
hist:keys=common_pid:vals=hitcount:sort=hitcount:size=2048 if next_prio < 10 [active]

756b56a9e8 ftrace/selftest: Have the reset_trigger code be a bit more careful
The trigger code is picky in how it can be disabled as there may be
dependencies between different events and synthetic events. Change the order
on how triggers are reset.

 1) Reset triggers of all synthetic events first
 2) Remove triggers with actions attached to them
 3) Remove all other triggers

If this order isn't followed, then some triggers will not be reset, and an
error may happen because a trigger is busy.

ef39a01203 selftests: ftrace: Fix trigger extended error testcase
Previous testcase redirects echo-out into /dev/null
using "&>" as below

echo "trigger-command" >> trigger &> /dev/null

But this means redirecting both stdout and stderr into
/dev/null because it is same as below

echo "trigger-command" >> trigger > /dev/null 2>&1

So ">> trigger" redirects stdout to trigger file, but
next "> /dev/null" redirects stdout to /dev/null again
and the last "2>/&1" redirects stderr to stdout (/dev/null)

This fixes it by "2> /dev/null". And also, since it
must fail, add "!" to echo command.

878cb3fb06 selftests/ftrace: Add more tests for removing of function probes
Al Viro discovered a bug in the removing of function probes where if it had
a '*' at the beginning, it would fail to find any matches. That is, because
it reset the glob search string to the the initial string with a "MATCH_END"
type, instead of skipping the wildcard "*" it included it, where it would
not match any functions because "*" was being treated as a normal character
and not a wildcard one.

97fe22adf3 selftests/ftrace: Add some missing glob checks
Al Viro discovered a bug in the glob ftrace filtering code where "*a*b" is
treated the same as "a*b", and functions that would be selected by "*a*b"
but not "a*b" are not selected with "*a*b".

Add tests for patterns "*a*b" and "a*b*" to the glob selftest.

0787ce3360 selftests/ftrace: Have reset_ftrace_filter handle multiple instances
If a probe is attached to a static function that is in multiple files with
the same name, removing it by name will remove all instances:

 # grep jump_label_unlock set_ftrace_filter
jump_label_unlock:traceoff:unlimited
jump_label_unlock:traceoff:unlimited

 # echo '!jump_label_unlock:traceoff' >> set_ftrace_filter
 # grep jump_label_unlock set_ftrace_filter
 #

But the loop in reset_ftrace_filter will try to remove multiple instances
multiple times. If this happens the second time will error and cause the
test to fail.

At each iteration of the loop, check to see if the probe being removed still
exists.

df9d36d9e8 selftests/ftrace: Have reset_ftrace_filter handle modules
If a function probe in set_ftrace_filter belongs to a module, it will
contain the module name. Like:

 wmi_query_block [wmi]:traceoff:unlimited

But writing:

 '!wmi_query_block [wmi]:traceoff' > set_ftrace_filter

will cause an error. We still need to write:

 '!wmi_query_block:traceoff' > set_ftrace_filter

9739cee691 selftest: ftrace: Fix to add 256 kprobe events correctly
Current multiple-kprobe testcase only tries to add
kprobe events on first 256 text symbols. However
kprobes fails to probe on some text symbols (like
blacklisted symbols). Thus in the worst case,
the test can not add any kprobe events.

To avoid that, continue to try adding kprobe events
until 256 events. Also it confirms the number of
registered kprobe events.
