When config pci_ops.read() can detect failed PCI transactions, the data
returned to the CPU is PCI_ERROR_RESPONSE (~0 or 0xffffffff).
Obviously a successful PCI config read may *also* return that data if a
config register happens to contain ~0, so it doesn't definitively indicate
an error unless we know the register cannot contain ~0.
Use PCI_POSSIBLE_ERROR() to check the response we get when we read data
from hardware. This unifies PCI error response checking and makes error
checks consistent and easier to find.
Compile tested only.

A config read from a PCI device that doesn't exist or doesn't respond
causes a PCI error. There's no real data to return to satisfy the CPU read,
so most hardware fabricates ~0 data.
Use PCI_SET_ERROR_RESPONSE() to set the error response when we think the
device has already been disconnected.
This helps unify PCI error response checking and make error checks
consistent and easier to find.

When a PCI config read fails, most PCI host bridges fabricate ~0 data to
complete the CPU read. But some host bridges do not; their drivers may
only return an error from the pci_ops.read() method.
In PCI_OP_READ() and PCI_USER_READ_CONFIG(), use PCI_SET_ERROR_RESPONSE()
to set the data value to indicate an error when pci_ops.read() fails.
This means the host bridge driver no longer needs to fabricate error data
when they detect errors.
This makes error response fabrication consistent and helps in removal of a
lot of repeated code.

Revert "PCI: Use to_pci_driver() instead of pci_dev->driver"
Revert "PCI: Remove struct pci_dev->driver"
This reverts commit 2a4d9408c9.
Robert reported a NULL pointer dereference caused by the PCI core
(local_pci_probe()) calling the i2c_designware_pci driver's
.runtime_resume() method before the .probe() method. i2c_dw_pci_resume()
depends on initialization done by i2c_dw_pci_probe().
Prior to 2a4d9408c9 ("PCI: Use to_pci_driver() instead of
pci_dev->driver"), pci_pm_runtime_resume() avoided calling the
.runtime_resume() method because pci_dev->driver had not been set yet.
2a4d9408c9 and b5f9c644eb ("PCI: Remove struct pci_dev->driver"),
removed pci_dev->driver, replacing it by device->driver, which *has* been
set by this time, so pci_pm_runtime_resume() called the .runtime_resume()
method when it previously had not.

The recent rework of PCI/MSI[X] masking moved the non-mask checks from the
low level accessors into the higher level mask/unmask functions.
This missed the fact that these accessors can be invoked from other places
as well. The missing checks break XEN-PV which sets pci_msi_ignore_mask and
also violates the virtual MSIX and the msi_attrib.maskbit protections.
Instead of sprinkling checks all over the place, lift them back into the
low level accessor functions. To avoid checking three different conditions
combine them into one property of msi_desc::msi_attrib.

- Fix support for platforms that do not enumerate every ACPI0016 (CXL
Host Bridge) in the CHBS (ACPI Host Bridge Structure).
- Introduce a common pci_find_dvsec_capability() helper, clean up open
coded implementations in various drivers.
- Add 'cxl_test' for regression testing CXL subsystem ABIs. 'cxl_test'
is a module built from tools/testing/cxl/ that mocks up a CXL topology
to augment the nascent support for emulation of CXL devices in QEMU.
- Convert libnvdimm to use the uuid API.
- Complete the definition of CXL namespace labels in libnvdimm.
- Tunnel libnvdimm label operations from nd_ioctl() back to the CXL
mailbox driver. Enable 'ndctl {read,write}-labels' for CXL.
- Continue to sort and refactor functionality into distinct driver and
core-infrastructure buckets. For example, mailbox handling is now a
generic core capability consumed by the PCI and cxl_test drivers.

Commit e3a9b1212b ("PCI: Export pci_dev_trylock() and pci_dev_unlock()")
already exported pci_dev_trylock()/pci_dev_unlock() however in some
circumstances such as during error recovery it makes sense to block
waiting to get full access to the device so also export pci_dev_lock().

This is done by adding a zpci_hot_reset_device() call which does a low
level reset of the PCI function without changing its higher level
function state. This way it can be used while the zPCI function is bound
to a driver and with DMA tables being controlled either through the
IOMMU or DMA APIs which is prohibited when using zpci_disable_device()
as that drop existing DMA translations.
As this reset, unlike a normal FLR, also calls zpci_clear_irq() we need
to implement arch_restore_msi_irqs() and make sure we re-enable IRQs for
the PCI function if they were previously disabled.

The Pericom PI7C9X2G404/PI7C9X2G304/PI7C9X2G303 PCIe switches have an
erratum for ACS P2P Request Redirect behaviour when used in the cut-through
forwarding mode. The recommended work around for this issue is to use the
switch in store and forward mode. The erratum results in packets being
queued and not being delivered upstream, which can be observed as very poor
downstream device performance and/or dropped device-generated
data/interrupts.
Add a fixup so that when enabling or resuming the downstream port we check
if it has enabled ACS P2P Request Redirect, and if so, change the device
(via the upstream port) to use the store and forward operating mode.

The Apple PCIe controller doesn't directly feed the endpoint's Requester ID
to the IOMMU (DART), but instead maps RIDs onto Stream IDs (SIDs). The DART
and the PCIe controller must thus agree on the SIDs that are used for
translation (by using the 'iommu-map' property).
For this purpose, parse the 'iommu-map' property each time a device gets
added, and use the resulting translation to configure the PCIe RID-to-SID
mapper. Similarly, remove the translation if/when the device gets removed.
This is all driven from a bus notifier which gets registered at probe time.
Hopefully this is the only PCI controller driver in the whole system.

Add support for the per-port interrupt controller that deals with both INTx
signalling and management interrupts.
This allows the Link-up/Link-down interrupts to be wired, allowing the
bring-up to be synchronised (and provide debug information). The framework
can further be used to handle the rest of the per port events if and when
necessary.
Likewise, INTx signalling is implemented so that end-points can actually be
used.

The best would be, instead, to support a PCI PHY driver, making the driver

However, it is too late to remove the Kirin 960 PHY, as a change like that
would make the DT schema incompatible with past versions.
So, add support for an external PHY driver without removing the existing

Aardvark supports PCIe Hot Reset via PCIE_CORE_CTRL1_REG.
Use it for implementing PCI_BRIDGE_CTL_BUS_RESET bit of PCI_BRIDGE_CONTROL

With this, the function pci_reset_secondary_bus() starts working and can
reset connected PCIe card. Custom userspace script [1] which uses setpci

From very vague, ambiguous and incomplete information from Marvell we
deduced that the 32-bit Aardvark register at address 0x4
(PCIE_CORE_CMD_STATUS_REG), which is not documented for Root Complex mode
in the Functional Specification (only for Endpoint mode), controls two
16-bit PCIe registers: Command Register and Status Registers of PCIe Root
Port.
This means that bit 2 controls bus mastering and forwarding of memory and
I/O requests in the upstream direction. According to PCI specifications
bits [0:2] of Command Register, this should be by default disabled on
reset. So explicitly disable these bits at early setup of the Aardvark
driver.
Remove code which unconditionally enables all 3 bits and let kernel code
(via pci_set_master() function) to handle bus mastering of Root PCIe
Bridge via emulated PCI_COMMAND on emulated bridge.

The pci_bridge_emul_conf_write() function correctly clears W1C bits in

Per PCIe r5.0, sec 7.5.3.16, Downstream Ports must disable LTR if the link
goes down (the Port goes DL_Down status). This is a problem because the
Downstream Port's dev->ltr_path is still set, so we think LTR is still
enabled, and we enable LTR in the Endpoint. When it sends LTR messages,
they cause Unsupported Request errors at the Downstream Port.
This happens in the reset path, where we may enable LTR in
pci_restore_pcie_state() even though the Downstream Port disabled LTR
because the reset caused a link down event.
It also happens in the hot-remove and hot-add path, where we may enable LTR
in pci_configure_ltr() even though the Downstream Port disabled LTR when
the hot-remove took the link down.
In these two scenarios, check the upstream bridge and restore its LTR
enable if appropriate.
The Unsupported Request may be logged by AER as follows:
pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: AER: Uncorrected (Non-Fatal) error received: id=00e8
pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Uncorrected (Non-Fatal), type=Transaction Layer, id=00e8(Requester ID)
pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: device [8086:9d18] error status/mask=00100000/00010000
pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: [20] Unsupported Request (First)
In addition, if LTR is not configured correctly, the link cannot enter the
L1.2 state, which prevents some machines from entering the S0ix low power
state.

The sysfs "irq" file contains the legacy INTx IRQ. Or, if the device has
MSI enabled, it contains the first MSI IRQ instead.
Previously this file showed the pci_dev.irq value directly. But we'd
prefer to use pci_dev.irq only for the INTx IRQ and decouple that from any
MSI or MSI-X IRQs.
If the device has MSI enabled, explicitly look up and show the first MSI
IRQ in the sysfs "irq" file. Otherwise, show the INTx IRQ.
This removes the requirement that msi_capability_init() set pci_dev.irq to
the first MSI IRQ when enabling MSI and pci_msi_shutdown() restore the INTx
IRQ when disabling MSI.

called from:

* dpc.c (if CONFIG_PCIE_DPC=y, which depends on CONFIG_PCIEAER)
* edr.c (if CONFIG_PCIE_EDR=y, which depends on CONFIG_PCIE_DPC)
Thus, err.c need not be compiled if CONFIG_PCIEAER=n.
Also, pci_uevent_ers() and pcie_clear_device_status(), which are called

Stuart Hayes reports that an error handled by DPC at a Root Port results
in pciehp gratuitously bringing down a subordinate hotplug port:
RP -- UP -- DP -- UP -- DP (hotplug) -- EP
pciehp brings the slot down because the Link to the Endpoint goes down.
That is caused by a Hot Reset being propagated as a result of DPC.
Per PCIe Base Spec 5.0, section 6.6.1 "Conventional Reset":
For a Switch, the following must cause a hot reset to be sent on all
Downstream Ports: [...]
* The Data Link Layer of the Upstream Port reporting DL_Down status.
In Switches that support Link speeds greater than 5.0 GT/s, the
Upstream Port must direct the LTSSM of each Downstream Port to the
Hot Reset state, but not hold the LTSSMs in that state. This permits
each Downstream Port to begin Link training immediately after its
hot reset completes. This behavior is recommended for all Switches.
* Receiving a hot reset on the Upstream Port.
Once DPC recovers, pcie_do_recovery() walks down the hierarchy and
invokes pcie_portdrv_slot_reset() to restore each port's config space.
At that point, a hotplug interrupt is signaled per PCIe Base Spec r5.0,
section 6.7.3.4 "Software Notification of Hot-Plug Events":
If the Port is enabled for edge-triggered interrupt signaling using
MSI or MSI-X, an interrupt message must be sent every time the logical
AND of the following conditions transitions from FALSE to TRUE: [...]
* The Hot-Plug Interrupt Enable bit in the Slot Control register is
set to 1b.
* At least one hot-plug event status bit in the Slot Status register
and its associated enable bit in the Slot Control register are both
set to 1b.
Prevent pciehp from gratuitously bringing down the slot by clearing the
error-induced Data Link Layer State Changed event before restoring
config space. Afterwards, check whether the link has unexpectedly
failed to retrain and synthesize a DLLSC event if so.
Allow each pcie_port_service_driver (one of them being pciehp) to define
a slot_reset callback and re-use the existing pm_iter() function to
iterate over the callbacks.
Thereby, the Endpoint driver remains bound throughout error recovery and
may restore the device to working state.
Surprise removal during error recovery is detected through a Presence
Detect Changed event. The hotplug port is expected to not signal that
event as a result of a Hot Reset.
The issue isn't DPC-specific, it also occurs when an error is handled by
AER through aer_root_reset(). So while the issue was noticed only now,
it's been around since 2006 when AER support was first introduced.

A firmware hard reset may be initiated by various mechanisms including a
UART interface, TWI sideband interface from BMC, MRPC command from
userspace, etc. The switchtec management driver is unaware of these
resets.
The reset clears PCI state including the BARs and Memory Space Enable
bits, so the device no longer responds to the MMIO accesses the driver
uses to operate it.
MMIO reads to the device will fail with a PCIe error. When the root
complex handles that error, it typically fabricates ~0 data to complete
the CPU read.
Check for this sort of error by reading the device ID from MMIO space.
This ID can never be ~0, so if we see that value, it probably means the
PCIe Memory Read failed and we should return an error indication to the
application using the switchtec driver.

On the Qualcomm sc8180x platform the bootloader does something related
to PCI that leaves a pending "msi" interrupt, which with the current
ordering often fires before init has a chance to enable the clocks that
are necessary for the interrupt handler to access the hardware.
Move the host_init() call before the registration of the "msi" interrupt
handler to ensure the host driver has a chance to enable the clocks.
The assignment of the bridge's ops and child_ops is moved along, because
at least the TI Keystone driver overwrites these in its host_init
callback.

If acpi_pci_find_companion() is called for a device whose parent
pointer is NULL, it will crash when attempting to get the ACPI
companion of the parent due to a NULL pointer dereference in
the ACPI_COMPANION() macro.
This was not a problem before commit 375553a932 ("PCI: Setup ACPI
fwnode early and at the same time with OF") that made pci_setup_device()
call pci_set_acpi_fwnode() and so it allowed devices with NULL parent
pointers to be passed to acpi_pci_find_companion() which is the case
in pci_iov_add_virtfn(), for instance.
Fix this issue by making acpi_pci_find_companion() check the device's
parent pointer upfront and bail out if it is NULL.
While pci_iov_add_virtfn() can be changed to set the device's parent
pointer before calling pci_setup_device() for it, checking pointers
against NULL before dereferencing them is prudent anyway and looking
for ACPI companions of virtual functions isn't really useful.

Fix multiple link training issues in aardvark driver. The main reason of
these issues was misunderstanding of what certain registers do, since their
names and comments were misleading: before commit 96be36dbff ("PCI:
aardvark: Replace custom macros by standard linux/pci_regs.h macros"), the
pci-aardvark.c driver used custom macros for accessing standard PCIe Root
Bridge registers, and misleading comments did not help to understand what
the code was really doing.
After doing more tests and experiments I've come to the conclusion that the
SPEED_GEN register in aardvark sets the PCIe revision / generation
compliance and forces maximal link speed. Both GEN3 and GEN2 values set the
read-only PCI_EXP_FLAGS_VERS bits (PCIe capabilities version of Root
Bridge) to value 2, while GEN1 value sets PCI_EXP_FLAGS_VERS to 1, which
matches with PCI Express specifications revisions 3, 2 and 1 respectively.
Changing SPEED_GEN also sets the read-only bits PCI_EXP_LNKCAP_SLS and
PCI_EXP_LNKCAP2_SLS to corresponding speed.
(Note that PCI Express rev 1 specification does not define PCI_EXP_LNKCAP2
and PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2 registers and when SPEED_GEN is set to GEN1 (which
also sets PCI_EXP_FLAGS_VERS set to 1), lspci cannot access
PCI_EXP_LNKCAP2 and PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2 registers.)
Changing PCIe link speed can be done via PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2_TLS bits of
PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2 register. Armada 3700 Functional Specifications says that
the default value of PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2_TLS is based on SPEED_GEN value, but
tests showed that the default value is always 8.0 GT/s, independently of
speed set by SPEED_GEN. So after setting SPEED_GEN, we must also set value
in PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2 register via PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2_TLS bits.
Triggering PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit immediately after setting LINK_TRAINING_EN
bit actually doesn't do anything. Tests have shown that a delay is needed
after enabling LINK_TRAINING_EN bit. As triggering PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL
currently does nothing, remove it.
Commit 43fc679ced ("PCI: aardvark: Improve link training") introduced
code which sets SPEED_GEN register based on negotiated link speed from
PCI_EXP_LNKSTA_CLS bits of PCI_EXP_LNKSTA register. This code was added to
fix detection of Compex WLE900VX (Atheros QCA9880) WiFi GEN1 PCIe cards, as
otherwise these cards were "invisible" on PCIe bus (probably because they
crashed). But apparently more people reported the same issues with these
cards also with other PCIe controllers [1] and I was able to reproduce this
issue also with other "noname" WiFi cards based on Atheros QCA9890 chip
(with the same PCI vendor/device ids as Atheros QCA9880). So this is not an
issue in aardvark but rather an issue in Atheros QCA98xx chips. Also, this
issue only exists if the kernel is compiled with PCIe ASPM support, and a
generic workaround for this is to change PCIe Bridge to 2.5 GT/s link speed
via PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2_TLS_2_5GT bits in PCI_EXP_LNKCTL2 register [2], before
triggering PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit. This workaround also works when SPEED_GEN
is set to value GEN2 (5 GT/s). So remove this hack completely in the
aardvark driver and always set SPEED_GEN to value from 'max-link-speed' DT
property. Fix for Atheros QCA98xx chips is handled separately by patch [2].
These two things (code for triggering PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit and changing
SPEED_GEN value) also explain why commit 6964494582 ("PCI: aardvark:
Train link immediately after enabling training") somehow fixed detection of
those problematic Compex cards with Atheros chips: if triggering link
retraining (via PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit) was done immediately after enabling
link training (via LINK_TRAINING_EN), it did nothing. If there was a
specific delay, aardvark HW already initialized PCIe link and therefore
triggering link retraining caused the above issue. Compex cards triggered
link down event and disappeared from the PCIe bus.
Commit f4c7d053d7 ("PCI: aardvark: Wait for endpoint to be ready before
training link") added 100ms sleep before calling 'Start link training'
command and explained that it is a requirement of PCI Express
specification. But the code after this 100ms sleep was not doing 'Start
link training', rather it triggered PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit via PCIe Root
Bridge to put link into Recovery state.
The required delay after fundamental reset is already done in function
advk_pcie_wait_for_link() which also checks whether PCIe link is up.
So after removing the code which triggers PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit on PCIe
Root Bridge, there is no need to wait 100ms again. Remove the extra
msleep() call and update comment about the delay required by the PCI
Express specification.
According to Marvell Armada 3700 Functional Specifications, Link training
should be enabled via aardvark register LINK_TRAINING_EN after selecting
PCIe generation and x1 lane. There is no need to disable it prior resetting
card via PERST# signal. This disabling code was introduced in commit
5169a9851d ("PCI: aardvark: Issue PERST via GPIO") as a workaround for
some Atheros cards. It turns out that this also is Atheros specific issue
and affects any PCIe controller, not only aardvark. Moreover this Atheros
issue was triggered by juggling with PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL, LINK_TRAINING_EN
and SPEED_GEN bits interleaved with sleeps. Now, after removing triggering
PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL, there is no need to explicitly disable LINK_TRAINING_EN
bit. So remove this code too. The problematic Compex cards described in
previous git commits are correctly detected in advk_pcie_train_link()
function even after applying all these changes.
Note that with this patch, and also prior this patch, some NVMe disks which
support PCIe GEN3 with 8 GT/s speed are negotiated only at the lowest link
speed 2.5 GT/s, independently of SPEED_GEN value. After manually triggering
PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit (e.g. from userspace via setpci), these NVMe disks
change link speed to 5 GT/s when SPEED_GEN was configured to GEN2. This
issue first needs to be properly investigated. I will send a fix in the
future.
On the other hand, some other GEN2 PCIe cards with 5 GT/s speed are
autonomously by HW autonegotiated at full 5 GT/s speed without need of any
software interaction.
Armada 3700 Functional Specifications describes the following steps for
link training: set SPEED_GEN to GEN2, enable LINK_TRAINING_EN, poll until
link training is complete, trigger PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL, poll until signal
rate is 5 GT/s, poll until link training is complete, enable ASPM L0s.
The requirement for triggering PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL can be explained by the
need to achieve 5 GT/s speed (as changing link speed is done by throw to
recovery state entered by PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL) or maybe as a part of enabling
ASPM L0s (but in this case ASPM L0s should have been enabled prior
PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL).
It is unknown why the original pci-aardvark.c driver was triggering
PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL bit before waiting for the link to be up. This does not
align with neither PCIe base specifications nor with Armada 3700 Functional
Specification. (Note that in older versions of aardvark, this bit was
called incorrectly PCIE_CORE_LINK_TRAINING, so this may be the reason.)
It is also unknown why Armada 3700 Functional Specification says that it is
needed to trigger PCI_EXP_LNKCTL_RL for GEN2 mode, as according to PCIe
base specification 5 GT/s speed negotiation is supposed to be entirely
autonomous, even if initial speed is 2.5 GT/s.

Commit 43f5c77bcb ("PCI: aardvark: Fix reporting CRS value") fixed
handling of CRS response and when CRSSVE flag was not enabled it marked CRS
response as failed transaction (due to simplicity).
But pci-aardvark.c driver is already waiting up to the PIO_RETRY_CNT count
for PIO config response and so we can with a small change implement
re-issuing of config requests as described in PCIe base specification.
This change implements re-issuing of config requests when response is CRS.
Set upper bound of wait cycles to around PIO_RETRY_CNT, afterwards the
transaction is marked as failed and an all-ones value is returned as
before.
We do this by returning appropriate error codes from function
advk_pcie_check_pio_status(). On CRS we return -EAGAIN and caller then
reissues transaction.

Commit 366697018c ("PCI: aardvark: Add PHY support") introduced
configuration of PCIe Reference clock via PCIE_CORE_REF_CLK_REG register,
but did it incorrectly.
PCIe Reference clock differential pair is routed from system board to
endpoint card, so on CPU side it has output direction. Therefore it is
required to enable transmitting and disable receiving.
Default configuration according to Armada 3700 Functional Specifications is
enabled receiver part and disabled transmitter.
We need this change because otherwise PCIe Reference clock is configured to
some undefined state when differential pair is used for both transmitting
and receiving.

manually set to PCIe Gen1 and thus limiting the link speed to 2.5 GT/s.
Code refactoring completed in the commit 39bc500650 ("PCI: dwc:

used to limit the maximum link speed leaving behind an unused assignment
to a variable "ret".
Since the value returned from the of_property_read_u32() and stored in

immediately reassigned in the code that follows, the assignment can be

Since commit 2a671f77ee ("s390/pci: fix use after free of zpci_dev")
the reference count of a zpci_dev is incremented between
pcibios_add_device() and pcibios_release_device() which was supposed to
prevent the zpci_dev from being freed while the common PCI code has
access to it. It was missed however that the handling of zPCI
availability events assumed that once zpci_zdev_put() was called no
later availability event would still see the device. With the previously
mentioned commit however this assumption no longer holds and we must
make sure that we only drop the initial long-lived reference the zPCI
subsystem holds exactly once.
Do so by introducing a zpci_device_reserved() function that handles when
a device is reserved. Here we make sure the zpci_dev will not be
considered for further events by removing it from the zpci_list.
This also means that the device actually stays in the
ZPCI_FN_STATE_RESERVED state between the time we know it has been
reserved and the final reference going away. We thus need to consider it
a real state instead of just a conceptual state after the removal. The
final cleanup of PCI resources, removal from zbus, and destruction of
the IOMMU stays in zpci_release_device() to make sure holders of the
reference do see valid data until the release.

Using struct pci_platform_pm_ops for ACPI adds unnecessary
indirection to the interactions between the PCI core and ACPI PM,
which is also subject to retpolines.
Moreover, it is not particularly clear from the current code that,
as far as PCI PM is concerned, "platform" really means just ACPI
except for the special casess when Intel MID PCI PM is used or when
ACPI support is disabled (through the kernel config or command line,
or because there are no usable ACPI tables on the system).
To address the above, rework the PCI PM code to invoke ACPI PM
functions directly as needed and drop the acpi_pci_platform_pm
object that is not necessary any more.
Accordingly, update some of the ACPI PM functions in question to do
extra checks in case the ACPI support is disabled (which previously
was taken care of by avoiding to set the pci_platform_ops pointer
in those cases).

Most of the "store" functions that handle userspace input via sysfs return
-EINVAL should the value fail validation and/or type conversion. This
error code is a clear message to userspace that the value is not a valid
input.
However, some of the "show" functions return input parsing error codes
as-is, which may be either -EINVAL or -ERANGE. The former would often be
from kstrtobool(), and the latter typically from other kstr*() functions
such as kstrtou8(), kstrtou32(), kstrtoint(), etc.
-EINVAL is commonly returned as the error code to indicate that the value
provided is invalid, but -ERANGE is not very useful in userspace.
Therefore, normalize the return error code to be -EINVAL for when the
validation and/or type conversion fails.

There are only two users of struct pci_platform_pm_ops in the tree,
one of which is Intel MID PM and the other one is ACPI. They are
mutually exclusive and the MID PM should take precedence when they
both are enabled, but whether or not this really is the case hinges
on the specific ordering of arch_initcall() calls made by them.
The struct pci_platform_pm_ops abstraction is not really necessary
for just these two users, but it adds complexity and overhead because
of retoplines involved in using all of the function pointers in there.
It also makes following the code a bit more difficult than it would
be otherwise.
Moreover, Intel MID PCI PM doesn't even implement the majority of the
function pointers in struct pci_platform_pm_ops in a meaningful way,
so switch over the PCI core to calling the relevant MID PM routines,
mid_pci_set_power_state() and mid_pci_set_power_state(), directly as
needed and drop mid_pci_platform_pm.

The acpi_pci_bus structure was used primarily for running
acpi_pci_find_companion() during PCI device objects registration,
but after commit 375553a932 ("PCI: Setup ACPI fwnode early and at
the same time with OF") that function is called by pci_setup_device()
via pci_set_acpi_fwnode(), which happens before calling
pci_device_add() on the new PCI device object, so its ACPI companion
has been set already when acpi_device_notify() runs and it will never
call ->find_companion() from acpi_pci_bus.
For this reason, modify acpi_device_notify() and
acpi_device_notify_remove() to call pci_acpi_setup() and
pci_acpi_cleanup(), respectively, directly on PCI device objects
and drop acpi_pci_bus altogether.
While at it, notice that pci_acpi_setup() and pci_acpi_cleanup()
can obtain the ACPI companion pointer, which is guaranteed to not
be NULL, from their callers and modify them to work that way so
as to reduce the number of redundant checks somewhat.

Xen/gntdev: don't ignore kernel unmapping error
xen/x86: drop redundant zeroing from cpu_initialize_context()
In hv_pci_bus_exit, the code is holding a spinlock while calling
pci_destroy_slot(), which takes a mutex.
This is not safe for spinlock. Fix this by moving the children to be
deleted to a list on the stack, and removing them after spinlock is
released.

The general convention for pcibios_* hooks is that they're named after the
corresponding pci_* function they provide a hook for. The exception is
pcibios_add_device() which provides a hook for pci_device_add().
Rename pcibios_add_device() to pcibios_device_add() so it matches
pci_device_add().
Also, remove the export of the microblaze version. The only caller must be
compiled as a built-in so there's no reason for the export.

Avoid registering service IRQs if there is no service that offers them
or no driver to register a handler against them. This saves IRQ vectors
when they are limited (e.g. on x86) and also avoids that spurious events
could hit a missing handler. Such spurious events need to be generated
by the Jailhouse hypervisor for active MSI vectors when enabling or
disabling itself.

The driver's module init function, pcifront_init(), invokes
xen_pv_domain() first thing. That construct produces constant "false"
when !CONFIG_XEN_PV. Hence there's no point building the driver in
non-PV configurations.
Drop the (now implicit and generally wrong) X86 dependency: At present,
XEN_PV can only be set when X86 is also enabled. In general an
architecture supporting Xen PV (and PCI) would want to have this driver
built.

Commit 375553a932 ("PCI: Setup ACPI fwnode early and at the same time
with OF") added a call to pci_set_acpi_fwnode() in pci_setup_device(),
which unconditionally clears any fwnode previously set by
pci_set_of_node().
pci_set_acpi_fwnode() looks for ACPI_COMPANION(), which only returns the
existing fwnode if it was set by ACPI_COMPANION_SET(). If it was set by
OF instead, ACPI_COMPANION() returns NULL and pci_set_acpi_fwnode()
accidentally clears the fwnode. To fix this, look for any fwnode instead
of just ACPI companions.
Fixes a virtio-iommu boot regression in v5.15-rc1.

7bac54497c ("PCI/VPD: Determine VPD size in pci_vpd_init()") reads VPD at
enumeration-time to find the size. But this is quite slow, and we don't
need the size until we actually need data from VPD. Dave reported a boot
slowdown of more than two minutes [1].
Defer the VPD sizing until a driver or the user (via sysfs) requests
information from VPD.
If devices are quirked because VPD is known not to work, don't bother even
looking for the VPD capability. The VPD will not be accessible at all.

On some systems, in order to get to the deepest low-power state of
the platform (which may be necessary to save significant enough
amounts of energy while suspended to idle. for example), devices on
the PCI bus exposed by the VMD driver need to be power-managed via
ACPI. However, the layout of the ACPI namespace below the VMD
controller device object does not reflect the layout of the PCI bus
under the VMD host bridge, so in order to identify the ACPI companion
objects for the devices on that bus, it is necessary to use a special
_ADR encoding on the ACPI side. In other words, acpi_pci_find_companion()
does not work for these devices, so it needs to be amended with a
special lookup logic specific to the VMD bus.
Address this issue by allowing the VMD driver to temporarily install
an ACPI companion lookup hook containing the code matching the devices
on the VMD PCI bus with the corresponding objects in the ACPI
namespace.

Here is the big set of driver core patches for 5.15-rc1.
These do change a number of different things across different
subsystems, and because of that, there were 2 stable tags created that
might have already come into your tree from different pulls that did the
following
- changed the bus remove callback to return void
- sysfs iomem_get_mapping rework
The latter one will cause a tiny merge issue with your tree, as there
was a last-minute fix for this in 5.14 in your tree, but the fixup
should be "obvious". If you want me to provide a fixed merge for this,
please let me know.
Other than those two things, there's only a few small things in here:
- kernfs performance improvements for huge numbers of sysfs
users at once
- tiny api cleanups
- other minor changes
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
problems, other than the before-mentioned merge issue.

An unnecessary "__ref" annotation was removed from the
"drivers/pci/xen_pcifront.c" file. The function where the annotation
was used was "pcifront_backend_changed()", which does not call any
functions annotated as "__*init" nor "__*exit". This makes "__ref"
unnecessary since this annotation is used to make the compiler ignore
section miss-matches when they are not happening here in the first
place.
In addition to the aforementioned change, some code style issues were
fixed in the same file.

HiSilicon KunPeng920 and KunPeng930 have devices that appear as PCI but are
actually on the AMBA bus. These fake PCI devices can support SVA via the
SMMU stall feature.
DT systems can indicate this in the device tree, but ACPI systems don't
have that mechanism, so add a "dma-can-stall" property manually for them.

The switch statement in the artpec6_pcie_probe() has a local code block

This extra code block adds brackets at the same indentation level as the

Because we assumed all Ports supported it, we tried to set up a Bandwidth
Notification IRQ, which failed for devices that don't support IRQs at all,
which meant pcieport didn't attach to the Port at all.
Check the Link Bandwidth Notification Capability bit and enable the service
only when the Port supports it.

When running as Xen PV guest, masking MSI-X is a responsibility of the
hypervisor. The guest has no write access to the relevant BAR at all - when
it tries to, it results in a crash like this:
BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffc9004069100c
#PF: supervisor write access in kernel mode
#PF: error_code(0x0003) - permissions violation
RIP: e030:__pci_enable_msix_range.part.0+0x26b/0x5f0

e1000_probe+0x41f/0xdb0 [e1000e]
local_pci_probe+0x42/0x80
(...)
The recently introduced function msix_mask_all() does not check the global
variable pci_msi_ignore_mask which is set by XEN PV to bypass the masking
of MSI[-X] interrupts.
Add the check to make this function XEN PV compatible.

Some systems, e.g., HiSilicon KunPeng920 and KunPeng930, have devices that
appear as PCI but are actually on the AMBA bus. Some of these fake PCI
devices support a PASID-like feature and they do have a working PASID
capability even though they do not use the PCIe Transport Layer Protocol
and do not support TLP prefixes.
Add a pasid_no_tlp bit for this "PASID works without TLP prefixes" case and
update pci_enable_pasid() so it can enable PASID on these devices.
Set this bit for HiSilicon KunPeng920 and KunPeng930.

Add 'override_only' field to struct pci_device_id to be used as part of
pci_match_device().
When set, a driver only matches the entry when dev->driver_override is
set to that driver.
In addition, add a helper macro named 'PCI_DEVICE_DRIVER_OVERRIDE' to
enable setting some data on it.
Next patch from this series will use the above functionality.

Use of_get_pci_domain_nr() to get the pci domain.
If the "linux,pci-domain" property is present, we assume that the PCIe
bridge is an individual bridge, hence we only need to parse one port.
