Right now the regulator helpers expect raw register values for the range
selectors. This is different from the voltage selectors, which are
normalized as bitfield values. This leads to a bit of confusion. Also,
raw values are harder to copy from datasheets or match up with them,
as datasheets will typically have bitfield values.
Make the helpers expect bitfield values, and convert existing users. The
field in regulator_desc is renamed to |linear_range_selectors_bitfield|.
This is intended to cause drivers added in the same merge window and
out-of-tree drivers using the incorrect variable and values to break,
preventing incorrect values being used on actual hardware and potentially
producing magic smoke.
Also include bitops.h explicitly for ffs(), and reorder the header include
statements. While at it, also replace module.h with export.h, since the
only use is EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL.

This follows on the change ("regulator: Set PROBE_PREFER_ASYNCHRONOUS

in Linux 4.14 but did exist in Linux 4.19.
NOTE: from a quick "git cherry-pick" it looks as if
"bd718x7-regulator.c" didn't actually exist in v4.19. In 4.19 it was
named "bd71837-regulator.c". See commit 2ece646c90 ("regulator:

The dev_err_probe() has (at least) following benefits over dev_err()
when printing an error print for a failed function call at a device
driver probe:
- Omit error level print if error is 'EPRBE_DEFER'
- Standardized print format for returned error
- return the error value allowing shortening calls like:
if (ret) {
dev_err(...);
return ret;
}
to
if (ret)
return dev_err_probe(...);
Convert the ROHM BD718x7 regulator driver to use the dev_err_probe() when
returned error is not hard-coded constant.
NOTE:
This commit also changes the error handling path to return immediately
from a spot where the error is spotted instead of using a single point
of exit.

Changing the BD71837 voltages for other regulators except the first 4 BUCKs
should be forbidden when the regulator is enabled. There may be out-of-spec
voltage spikes if the voltage of these "non DVS" bucks is changed when
enabled. This restriction was accidentally removed when the LDO voltage
change was allowed for BD71847. (It was not noticed that the BD71837
BUCK7 used same voltage setting function as LDOs).
Additionally this bug causes incorrect voltage monitoring register access.
The voltage change function accidentally used for bd71837 BUCK7 is
intended to only handle LDO voltage changes. A BD71847 LDO specific
voltage monitoring disabling code gets executed on BD71837 and register
offsets are wrongly calculated as regulator is assumed to be an LDO.
Prevent the BD71837 BUCK7 voltage change when BUCK7 is enabled by using
the correct voltage setting operation.

Setups where regulator (especially the buck8) output voltage is scaled
by adding external connection where some other regulator output is
connected to feedback-pin (over suitable resistors) is getting popular
amongst users of BD71837. This allows for example scaling down the
buck8 voltages to suit lover GPU voltages for projects where buck8 is
(ab)used to supply power for GPU. As a note - some setups do allow DVS
for buck8. This do produce voltage spikes and the HW must be evaluated
to be able to survive them. Thus this commit still keep the DVS disabled
for non DVS bucks by default. Let's not help you burn your proto board.
Allow describing this external connection from DT and scale the
voltages accordingly. This is what the connection should look like:
|------------|
| buck 8 |-------+----->Vout
| | |
|------------| |
| FB pin |
| |
+-------+--R2---+
|
R1
|
V FB-pull-up
Here the buck output is sifted according to formula:
Vout_o = Vo - (Vpu - Vo)*R2/R1
Linear_step = step_orig*(R1+R2)/R1
where:
Vout_o is adjusted voltage output at vsel reg value 0
Vo is original voltage output at vsel reg value 0
Vpu is the pull-up voltage V FB-pull-up in the picture
R1 and R2 are resistor values.
Bring support for specifying the Vpu, R1 and R2 from device tree and
scale voltages if they are given.

The BD718(37/47/50) regulator enable states can be controlled
either by SW or by PMIC internal state machine. The bd718x7
driver has not supported leaving the regulators under HW state
machine control (except for cases where this is required to
avoid boot-up problems due to critical regulators being turned
OFF at reset when SNVS used as reset state).
On some systems this is undesirable as there now are setups where
mixture of SW and HW state machine controlled regulators is needed.
Specifically, some SoCs signal SUSPEND state change to PMIC via
STBY_REQ line. Now there are setups that expect certain regulators
then to be disabled (by PMIC state machine) while other regulators
should stay enabled (regardless of HW state => SW control required).
Add support for a new device-tree property
"rohm,no-regulator-enable-control" which can be used to leave
regulator(s) under HW state machine control.

The BD71837 had a HW "feature" where changing the regulator output
voltages of other regulators but bucks 1-4 might cause spikes if

regulators except for bucks 1-4 when regulator is enabled.
The HW colleagues did inadvertly fix this issue for BD71847 and

The power-good detection for LDOs can still cause false alarms if
LDO voltage is changed upwards when LDO is enabled.
Allow LDO voltage changes and disabe the power-good monioring for
the duration of the LDO voltage change and enable it after LDO
voltage has stabilized. ROHM HW colleagues measured the safety
limit of 1000uS for guaranteeing the voltage has stabilized. Let's
use that for starters and add confiurable stabilization wait-time
later if needed.

Few ROHM PMICs allow setting the voltage states for different system states
like RUN, IDLE, SUSPEND and LPSR. States are then changed via SoC specific
mechanisms. bd718x7 driver implemented device-tree parsing functions for
these state specific voltages. The parsing functions can be re-used by
other ROHM chip drivers like bd71828. Split the generic functions from
bd718x7-regulator.c to rohm-regulator.c and export them for other modules
to use.

Thanks to Stephen Boyd I today learned we can use platform_device_id
to do device and module matching for MFD sub-devices!
Do device matching using the platform_device_id instead of using
explicit module_aliases to load modules and custom parent-data field
to do module loading and sub-device matching.

Nowdays ROHM_CHIP_TYPE_AMOUNT includes not only BD71837/BD71847 but also
BD70528/BD71828 which are not supported by this driver. So it seems not
necessay to have pmic_regulators[ROHM_CHIP_TYPE_AMOUNT] as mapping table.
Simplify the code by removing struct bd718xx_pmic_inits and
pmic_regulators[ROHM_CHIP_TYPE_AMOUNT].

read ROHM BD71837 / BD71847 specific device tree bindings for
controlling the PMIC shutdown/reset states and voltages for
different HW states. The PMIC was designed to be used with NXP
i.MX8 SoC and it supports SNVS low power state which seems to
be typical for NXP i.MX SoCs. However, when SNVS is used we must
not allow SW to control enabling/disabling those regulators which
are crucial for system to boot as there is a HW limitation which
causes SW controlled regulators to be kept shut down after SNVS
reset.
Allow setting the SNVS to be used as reset target state and allow
marking those regulators which are critical for boot.

BD71837 and BD71847 have a HW functionality which leave power
rails OFF after powerof state:
- if they have been controlled by SW.
- if state transition from poweroff is done to SNVS
BD71837 can after reset transition from power-off to SNVS or
READY state depending on reset reason. By default only wathcdog
reset changes state from poweroff to ready. Change PMIC
configuration to always transition to READY in order to avoid
crucial power rails being OFF after reset.
If SNVS is required the crucial power rails should not be
controlled by SW - eg corresponding regulator control register
should have SEL bit kept zero. Currently the driver assumes all
regulators to be controlled by SW so it sets all SEL bits to 1.

With gcc 4.1:
drivers/regulator/bd718x7-regulator.c: In function ‘bd718xx_probe’:
drivers/regulator/bd718x7-regulator.c:1020: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type
drivers/regulator/bd718x7-regulator.c:1024: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type
Apparently this old compiler can't handle the obscure double
indirection.
However, there is no need for a double indirection. Just store a
pointer to the array instead, like other drivers tend to do.
