perf build: Disable BPF skeletons if clang version is < 12.0.1

perf build: Default BUILD_BPF_SKEL, warn/disable for missing deps
LIBBPF is dependent on zlib so move the NO_ZLIB and feature check early to avoid statically building when zlib is disabled. This avoids a linkage failure with perf and static libbpf when zlib isn't specified. Move BUILD_BPF_SKEL logic to one place and if not defined set BUILD_BPF_SKEL to 1. Detect dependencies of building with BPF skeletons and warn/disable if the dependencies aren't present. Change Makefile.perf to contain BPF skeleton logic dependent on the Makefile.config result and refresh the comment about BUILD_BPF_SKEL. perf bpf: Remove support for embedding clang for compiling BPF events (-e foo.c)
This never was in the default build for perf, is difficult to maintain as it uses clang/llvm internals so ditch it, keeping, for now, the external compilation of .c BPF into .o bytecode and its subsequent loading, that is also going to be removed, do it separately to help bisection and to properly document what is being removed and why. perf build: Fix library not found error when using CSLIBS
-L only specifies the search path for libraries directly provided in the link line with -l. Because -lopencsd isn't specified, it's only linked because it's a dependency of -lopencsd_c_api. Dependencies like this are resolved using the default system search paths or -rpath-link=... rather than -L. This means that compilation only works if OpenCSD is installed to the system rather than provided with the CSLIBS (-L) option. This could be fixed by adding -Wl,-rpath-link=$(CSLIBS) but that is less conventional than just adding -lopencsd to the link line so that it uses -L. -lopencsd seems to have been removed in commit |

perf build: Don't compile demangle-cxx.cpp if not necessary
demangle-cxx.cpp requires a C++ compiler, but feature checks may fail because of the absence of this. Add a CONFIG_CXX_DEMANGLE so that the source isn't built if not supported. Copy libbfd and cplus demangle variants to a weak symbol-elf.c version so they aren't dependent on C++. These variants are only built with the build option BUILD_NONDISTRO=1. perf build: Gracefully fail the build if BUILD_BPF_SKEL=1 is specified and clang isn't available
Build BPF skels require having a compiler able to generate BPF bytecode, and so far this is only possible with clang, so check for its availability and fail the build when the user explicitely ask for BPF skels to be built. Disable building BPF based features by default for v6.4.

"Third version of perf tool updates, with the build problems with with
using a 'vmlinux.h' generated from the main build fixed, and the bpf
skeleton build disabled by default.
Build:
- Require libtraceevent to build, one can disable it using
NO_LIBTRACEEVENT=1.
It is required for tools like 'perf sched', 'perf kvm', 'perf
trace', etc.
libtraceevent is available in most distros so installing
'libtraceevent-devel' should be a one-time event to continue
building perf as usual.
Using NO_LIBTRACEEVENT=1 produces tooling that is functional and
sufficient for lots of users not interested in those libtraceevent
dependent features.
- Allow Python support in 'perf script' when libtraceevent isn't
linked, as not all features requires it, for instance Intel PT does
not use tracepoints.
- Error if the python interpreter needed for jevents to work isn't
available and NO_JEVENTS=1 isn't set, preventing a build without
support for JSON vendor events, which is a rare but possible

If libtraceevent isn't present, the build will warn and continue. This disables a number of features and so isn't desirable. This change makes the build error for this case. perf symbol: Add abi::__cxa_demangle C++ demangling support
Refactor C++ demangling out of symbol-elf into its own files similar to other languages. Add abi::__cxa_demangle support. As the other demanglers are not shippable with distributions, this brings back C++ demangling in a common case. It isn't perfect as the support for optionally demangling arguments and modifiers isn't present. binutils is GPLv3 so distributions cannot ship perf linked against libbfd and libiberty as the licenses are incompatible. perf build: Make BUILD_BPF_SKEL default, rename to NO_BPF_SKEL
BPF skeleton support is now key to a number of perf features. Rather than making it so that BPF support must be enabled for the build, make this the default and error if the build lacks a clang and libbpf that are sufficient. To avoid the error and build without BPF skeletons the NO_BPF_SKEL=1 flag can be used. Add a build-options flag to 'perf version' to enable detection of the BPF skeleton support and use this in the offcpu shell test. perf build: Fix build error when NO_LIBBPF=1
The $(LIBBPF) target should only be a dependency of prepare if the
static version of libbpf is needed. Add a new LIBBPF_STATIC variable
that is set by Makefile.config. Use LIBBPF_STATIC to determine whether
the CFLAGS, etc. need updating and for adding $(LIBBPF) as a prepare
dependency.
As Makefile.config isn't loaded for "clean" as a target, always set
LIBBPF_OUTPUT regardless of whether it is needed for $(LIBBPF). This
is done to minimize conditional logic for $(LIBBPF)-clean.

perf build: Fix python/perf.so library's name
Since Python 3.3 extensions have a suffix encoding platform and version information. For example, the perf extension was previously perf.so but now maybe perf.cpython-310-x86_64-linux-gnu.so. Compute the extension using Python and then use this in the target name. Doing this avoids the "perf.so" target always being rebuilt. perf build: Use libtraceevent from the system
Remove the LIBTRACEEVENT_DYNAMIC and LIBTRACEFS_DYNAMIC make command line variables. If libtraceevent isn't installed or NO_LIBTRACEEVENT=1 is passed to the build, don't compile in libtraceevent and libtracefs support. This also disables CONFIG_TRACE that controls "perf trace". CONFIG_LIBTRACEEVENT is used to control enablement in Build/Makefiles, HAVE_LIBTRACEEVENT is used in C code. Simplification here to avoid these two ways of disabling builtin-trace.c and not having CONFIG_TRACE=y when libtraceevent-devel isn't installed is the clean way. perf bpf: Rename perf_include_dir to libbpf_include_dir
As this is where we expect to find bpf/bpf_helpers.h, etc. This needs more work to make it follow LIBBPF_DYNAMIC=1 usage, i.e. when not using the system libbpf it should use the headers in the in-kernel sources libbpf in tools/lib/bpf. We need to do that anyway to avoid this mixup system libbpf and in-kernel files, so we'll get this sorted out that way. And this also may become moot as we move to using BPF skels for this feature. Don't use deprecated and now broken map style. Avoid use of tools/perf/include/bpf/bpf.h and use the more regular BPF headers. perf build: Update to C standard to gnu11
C11 has become the standard for mainstream kernel development [1], allowing it in the perf build enables libraries like stdatomic.h to be assumed to be present. This came up in the context of [2]. perf bpf: Fix build with libbpf 0.7.0 by checking if bpf_program__set_insns() is available
During the transition to libbpf 1.0 some functions that perf used were deprecated and finally removed from libbpf, so bpf_program__set_insns() was introduced for perf to continue to use its bpf loader. But when build with LIBBPF_DYNAMIC=1 we now need to check if that function is available so that perf can build with older libbpf versions, even if the end result is emitting a warning to the user that the use of the perf BPF loader requires a newer libbpf, since bpf_program__set_insns() touches libbpf objects internal state. This affects only 'perf trace' when using bpf C code or pre-compiled bytecode as an event. Noticed on RHEL9, that has libbpf 0.7.0, where bpf_program__set_insns() isn't available. perf test: Add build infra for perf test tools for ARM CoreSight tests
This adds the initial build infrastructure (makefiles maintainers information) for adding follow-on tests for CoreSight. Committer notes: Remove the installation of tests/shell/coresight/*.sh, as there are no files there yet and thus, at this point, make install fails. Use $(QUIET_CLEAN) to avoid having extraneous output in the 'make clean' output. Also use @$(MAKE) in tools/perf/tests/shell/coresight/Makefile as $(Q) is not turning into @ when V=1 isn't used, i.e. in the default case it is not being quiet. The >/dev/null in the all for tools/perf/tests/shell/coresight/Makefile is to avoid this: make[4]: Nothing to be done for 'all'. make[4]: Nothing to be done for 'all'. make[4]: Nothing to be done for 'all'.
