We tell driver developers to always pass NAPI_POLL_WEIGHT
as the weight to netif_napi_add(). This may be confusing
to newcomers, drop the weight argument, those who really
need to tweak the weight can use netif_napi_add_weight().

During the process of driver probing, probe function should return < 0
for failure, otherwise kernel will treat value >= 0 as success.
Therefore, the driver should set 'err' to -ENODEV when
'adapter->registered_device_map' is NULL. Otherwise kernel will assume
that the driver has been successfully probed and will cause unexpected
errors.

Using the VPD API allows to simplify the code and completely get rid
of t3_seeprom_read(). Note that we don't have to use pci_read_vpd_any()
here because a VPD quirk sets dev->vpd.len to the full EEPROM size.

Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement
the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware
timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP.
Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to
implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands.
This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find
their way through the implementation.

t3_sge_stop() is called from task context and from error handlers in
interrupt context. It relies on in_interrupt() to differentiate the
contexts.
in_interrupt() is deprecated as it is ill defined and does not provide what
it suggests.
Instead of replacing it with some other construct, simply split the
function into t3_sge_stop_dma(), which can be called from any context, and
t3_sge_stop() which can be only called from task context.
This has the advantage that any bogus invocation of t3_sge_stop() from
wrong contexts can be caught by debug kernels instead of being papered over
by the conditional.

As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver
comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to
succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree
compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses
kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when
documenting code, not doxygen or other styles.
After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however
scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that
I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch.
The errors fixed here are all kdoc of a few classes, with a few outliers:

The cxgb3 driver for "Chelsio T3-based gigabit and 10Gb Ethernet
adapters" implements a custom ioctl as SIOCCHIOCTL/SIOCDEVPRIVATE in
cxgb_extension_ioctl().
One of the subcommands of the ioctl is CHELSIO_GET_MEM, which appears
to read memory directly out of the adapter and return it to userspace.
It's not entirely clear what the contents of the adapter memory
contains, but the assumption is that it shouldn't be accessible to all
users.
So add a CAP_NET_ADMIN check to the CHELSIO_GET_MEM case. Put it after
the is_offload() check, which matches two of the other subcommands in
the same function which also check for is_offload() and CAP_NET_ADMIN.
Found by Ilja by code inspection, not tested as I don't have the
required hardware.

In cxgb_extension_ioctl(), the command of the ioctl is firstly copied from
the user-space buffer 'useraddr' to 'cmd' and checked through the
switch statement. If the command is not as expected, an error code
EOPNOTSUPP is returned. In the following execution, i.e., the cases of the
switch statement, the whole buffer of 'useraddr' is copied again to a
specific data structure, according to what kind of command is requested.
However, after the second copy, there is no re-check on the newly-copied
command. Given that the buffer 'useraddr' is in the user space, a malicious
user can race to change the command between the two copies. By doing so,
the attacker can supply malicious data to the kernel and cause undefined
behavior.
This patch adds a re-check in each case of the switch statement if there is
a second copy in that case, to re-check whether the command obtained in the
second copy is the same as the one in the first copy. If not, an error code
EINVAL is returned.

t.qset_idx can be indirectly controlled by user-space, hence leading to
a potential exploitation of the Spectre variant 1 vulnerability.
This issue was detected with the help of Smatch:

Fix this by sanitizing t.qset_idx before using it to index
adapter->msix_info
Notice that given that speculation windows are large, the policy is
to kill the speculation on the first load and not worry if it can be
completed with a dependent load/store [1].

attribute_group are not supposed to change at runtime. All functions
working with attribute_group provided by <linux/sysfs.h> work
with const attribute_group. So mark the non-const structs as const.

It seems like a historic accident that these return unsigned char *,
and in many places that means casts are required, more often than not.
Make these functions (skb_put, __skb_put and pskb_put) return void *
and remove all the casts across the tree, adding a (u8 *) cast only
where the unsigned char pointer was used directly, all done with the
following spatch:

Somehow, I missed a healthy number of ethernet drivers in the last pass.
Most of these drivers either were in need of an updated max_mtu to make
jumbo frames possible to enable again. In a few cases, also setting a
different min_mtu to match previous lower bounds. There are also a few
drivers that had no upper bounds checking, so they're getting a brand new
ETH_MAX_MTU that is identical to IP_MAX_MTU, but accessible by includes
all ethernet and ethernet-like drivers all have already.

An out of bounds read of 2 bytes was discovered in cxgb3 with KASAN.
t3_config_rss() expects both arrays it gets as parameters to have
terminators. setup_rss(), the caller, forgets to add a terminator to
one of the arrays. Thankfully the iteration in t3_config_rss() stops
anyway, but in the last iteration the check for the terminator
is an out of bounds read.
Add the missing terminator to rspq_map[].

There's no reason to perform a buffer copy for the firmware name. This

As result of deprecation of MSI-X/MSI enablement functions
pci_enable_msix() and pci_enable_msi_block() all drivers
using these two interfaces need to be updated to use the
new pci_enable_msi_range() and pci_enable_msix_range()

The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release

Rename the hardware VLAN acceleration features to include "CTAG" to indicate
that they only support CTAGs. Follow up patches will introduce 802.1ad
server provider tagging (STAGs) and require the distinction for hardware not
supporting acclerating both.
