768ec4c012 ath10k: update HOST capability qmi message
HOST capability interface data structures are updated
in HL3.1 fw version. Update the qmi host capability
members for compatibility across different firmware
versions.
Since this change breaks backward compatibility with
HL2.0 fw, HL2.0 fw upgrade to WLAN.HL.2.0-01617-QCAHLSWMTPLZ-1
or later version is required.

Testing:
        Tested on QCS404 platform(WCN3990 HW).
        Tested FW: WLAN.HL.3.1-00784-QCAHLSWMTPLZ-1,
                   WLAN.HL.2.0-01617-QCAHLSWMTPLZ-1

4b6e9f3fe1 ath9k: eeprom: Use scnprintf instead of snprintf
Change snprintf to scnprintf. There are generally two cases where using
snprintf causes problems.

1) Uses of size += snprintf(buf, SIZE - size, fmt, ...)  In this case,
if snprintf would have written more characters than what the buffer
size (SIZE) is, then size will end up larger than SIZE. In later uses
of snprintf, SIZE - size will result in a negative number, leading to
problems. Note that size might already be too large by using size =
snprintf before the code reaches a case of size += snprintf.

2) If size is ultimately used as a length parameter for a copy back to
user space, then it will potentially allow for a buffer overflow and
information disclosure when size is greater than SIZE. When the size is
used to index the buffer directly, we can have memory corruption. This
also means when size = snprintf... is used, it may also cause problems
since size may become large. Copying to userspace is mitigated by the
HARDENED_USERCOPY kernel configuration.

The solution to these issues is to use scnprintf which returns the number
of characters actually written to the buffer, so the size variable will
never exceed SIZE.

1a86be476c ath10k: fix S5 power consumption issue for QCA9377
After system entering S5 (shut down but system still
providing power to QCA9377) on Ubuntu platform, power
consumption of QCA9377 is 69mA, which is too high.
The root cause is pci_soft_reset is not set for QCA9377
during pci probe.
To fix this issue, set 'pci_soft_reset' to 'th10k_pci_warm_reset',
and then the power consumption drops to a normal value(10mA).
Verified on Dell Ubuntu platform with firmware:

5b9030cee1 ath10k: Set DMA address mask to 35 bit for WCN3990
WCN3990 is a 37-bit target but can address memory range
only upto 35 bits. The 36th bit is used to control the
smmu/iommu translation and the 37th bit is used by the
internal bus masters to access the wifi subsystem internal
SRAM. With the DMA mask set to 37i-bit, the host driver
can get 37-bit dma address, which leads to incorrect
address access in the target.

Hence the host driver can used addresses upto 35-bit
for WCN3990. Fix the dma mask for wcn3990 to 35-bit,
instead of 37-bit.

ce938231bd ath9k: Avoid OF no-EEPROM quirks without qca,no-eeprom
ath9k_of_init() function[0] was initially written on the assumption that
if someone had an explicit ath9k OF node that "there must be something
wrong, why would someone add an OF node if everything is fine"[1]

"it turns out it's not that simple. with your requirements I'm now aware
of two use-cases where the current code in ath9k_of_init() doesn't work
without modifications"[1]

The "your requirements" Martin speaks of is the result of the fact that I
have a device (PowerCloud Systems CR5000) has some kind of default - not
unique mac address - set and requires to set the correct MAC address via
mac-address devicetree property, however:

"some cards come with a physical EEPROM chip [or OTP] so "qca,no-eeprom"
should not be set (your use-case). in this case AH_USE_EEPROM should be
set (which is the default when there is no OF node)"[1]

The other use case is:

the firmware on some PowerMac G5 seems to add a OF node for the ath9k
card automatically. depending on the EEPROM on the card AH_NO_EEP_SWAP
should be unset (which is the default when there is no OF node). see [3]

After this patch to ath9k_of_init() the new behavior will be:

    if there's no OF node then everything is the same as before
    if there's an empty OF node then ath9k will use the hardware EEPROM
      (before ath9k would fail to initialize because no EEPROM data was
      provided by userspace)
    if there's an OF node with only a MAC address then ath9k will use
      the MAC address and the hardware EEPROM (see the case above)
    with "qca,no-eeprom" EEPROM data from userspace will be requested.
      the behavior here will not change

84758d4d43 ath10k: add support to configure BB timing over wmi
Add wmi configuration cmd to configure base band(BB) power amplifier(PA)
off timing values in hardware. The default PA off timings were fine tuned
to make proper DFS radar detection in QCA reference design. If ODM uses
different PA in their design, then the same default PA off timing values
cannot be used, it requires different settling time to detect radar pulses
very sooner and avoid radar detection problems. In that case it provides
provision to select proper PA off timing values based on the PA hardware used.
The PA component is part of FEM hardware and new device tree entry
"ext-fem-name" is used to indentify the FEM hardware. And this wmi configuration
cmd is enabled via wmi service flag "WMI_SERVICE_BB_TIMING_CONFIG_SUPPORT".

Other way is to apply these values through calibration data, but recalibration
of all boards out there might not be feasible.

This change tested on firmware ver 10.2.4-1.0-00042 in QCA988X chipset.

386f97e3b2 ath10k: fix tx_stats memory leak
Memory of tx_stats was allocated when a STA was added. But it's not freed
if the STA failed to be added to driver. This issue could be seen in MDK3
attack case when STA number reached the limit.

There was a race condition in SMP that an ath10k_peer was created but its
member sta was null. Following are procedures of ath10k_peer creation and
member sta access in peer statistics path.

    1. Peer creation:
        ath10k_peer_create()

                =>ath10k_wait_for_peer_created()
                ...

        # another kernel path, RX from firmware

        =>ath10k_peer_map_event()

                # peer->sta = sta //sta assignment

    2.  RX path of statistics

                # peer->sta //sta accessing

Any access of peer->sta after peer was added to peer_map but before sta was
assigned could cause a null pointer issue. And because these two steps are
asynchronous, no proper lock can protect them. So both peer and sta need to
be checked before access.

a2864772f3 ath10k: fix warning due to msdu limit error
Some hardwares variants (QCA99x0) are limiting msdu deaggregation with
some threshold value(default limit in QCA99x0 is 64 msdus), it was introduced to
avoid excessive MSDU-deaggregation in error cases. When number of sub frames
exceeds the limit, target hardware will send all msdus starting from present
msdu in RAW format as a single msdu packet and it will be indicated with
error status bit "RX_MSDU_END_INFO0_MSDU_LIMIT_ERR" set in rx descriptor.
This msdu frame is a partial raw MSDU and does't have first msdu and ieee80211
header. It caused below warning message.

In our issue case, MSDU limit error happened due to FCS error and generated
this warning message.

This fixes the warning by handling the MSDU limit error. If msdu limit error
happens, driver adds first MSDU's ieee80211 header and sets A-MSDU present bit
in QOS header so that upper layer processes this frame if it is valid or drop it
if FCS error set. And removed the warning message, hence partial msdus without
first msdu is expected in msdu limit error cases.

Tested on QCA9984, Firmware 10.4-3.6-00104

68c295f21a ath10k: disable 4addr source port learning in 10.4 FW by default
Currently in 10.4 FW, all the received 4addr frames are processed for
source port learning which is enabled by default. This learning can't be
disabled by default in FW since it breaks backward compatibility.

Since ath10k uses mac80211 based 4addr mode, source port learning done in
10.4 FW is redundant and also causes issues when 3addr frames are
transmitted/received for a 4addr station.

One such visible functional impact is when GTK rekey frame from
hostapd based AP to 4addr STA is dropped in AP's 10.4 FW. This is since
GTK rekey EAPOL frame is 3addr frame on AP interface and STA enabled
with 4addr is already allowed for receiving 3addr EAPOL frames.

Source port learning implementation in 10.4 FW drops this 3addr GTK rekey
frame in AP destinated for 4addr STA causing disassociation and
re-association for every GTK rekey session. GTK rekey issue is not seen
when learning is disabled in FW.

To prevent such issues without breaking backward compatibility, FW
advertises new service bit making the source port learning configurable and
this learning is being currently disabled during ath10k vdev creation.

9a9cf0e63f ath10k: report tx rate using ieee80211_tx_rate_update()
Mesh path metric needs tx rate information from ieee80211_tx_status()
call but in ath10k there is no mechanism to report tx rate information
via ieee80211_tx_status(), the tx rate is only accessible via
sta_statiscs() op.

Per peer tx stats has tx rate info available, Tx rate is available
to ath10k driver after every 4 PPDU sent in the air. For each PPDU,
ath10k driver updates rate informattion to mac80211 using
ieee80211_tx_rate_update().

Per peer txrate information is updated through per peer statistics
and is available for QCA9888/QCA9984/QCA4019/QCA998X only

Tested on QCA9984 with firmware-5.bin_10.4-3.5.3-00053

85bd0107c6 ath10k: add amsdu support for monitor mode
When processing HTT_T2H_MSG_TYPE_RX_IN_ORD_PADDR_IND, if the length of a msdu
is larger than the tailroom of the rx skb, skb_over_panic issue will happen
when calling skb_put.  In monitor mode, amsdu will be handled in this path, and
msdu_len of the first msdu_desc is the length of the entire amsdu, which might
be larger than the maximum length of a skb, in such case, it will hit the issue
upon.

To fix this issue, process msdu list separately for monitor mode.

Successfully tested with:
QCA6174 (FW version: RM.4.4.1.c2-00057-QCARMSWP-1).

553a7cca76 ath10k: fix kernel panic due to use after free
This issue arise in a race condition between ath10k_sta_state() and
ath10k_htt_fetch_peer_stats(), explained in below scenario

Steps:
1. In ath10k_sta_state(), arsta->tx_stats get deallocated before peer deletion
   when the station moves from IEEE80211_STA_NONE to IEEE80211_STA_NOTEXIST
   state.
2. Meanwhile ath10k receive HTT_T2H_MSG_TYPE_PEER_STATS message.
   In ath10k_htt_fetch_peer_stats(), arsta->tx_stats get accessed after
   the peer validation check.

Since arsta->tx_stats get freed before the peer deletion [1].
ath10k_htt_fetch_peer_stats() ended up in "use after free" situation.

Fixed this issue by moving the arsta->tx_stats free handling after the
peer deletion. so that ath10k_htt_fetch_peer_stats() will not end up in
"use after free" situation.

Commit dd45b7598f ("ath6kl: Include match ssid list in scheduled scan")
merged the probed and matched SSID lists before sending them to the
firmware. In the process, it assumed match set support is always available
in ath6kl_set_probed_ssids, which breaks scans for hidden SSIDs. Now, check
that the firmware supports matching SSIDs in scheduled scans before setting
MATCH_SSID_FLAG.

53884577fb ath10k: skip sending quiet mode cmd for WCN3990
HL2.0 firmware does not support setting quiet mode.  If the host driver sends
the quiet mode setting command to the HL2.0 firmware, it crashes with the below
signature.

fatal error received: err_qdi.c:456:EX:wlan_process:1:WLAN RT:207a:PC=b001b4f0

The quiet mode command support is exposed by the firmware via thermal throttle
wmi service. Enable ath10k thermal support if thermal throttle wmi service bit
is set.  10.x firmware versions support this feature by default, but
unfortunately do not advertise the support via service flags, hence have to
manually set the service flag in ath10k_core_compat_services().

Tested on QCA988X with 10.2.4.70.9-2. Also tested on WCN3990.

461cf03605 ath9k: Fix a locking bug in ath9k_add_interface()
We tried to revert commit d9c52fd17c ("ath9k: fix tx99 with monitor
mode interface") but accidentally missed part of the locking change.

The lock has to be held earlier so that we're holding it when we do
"sc->tx99_vif = vif;" and also there in the current code there is a
stray unlock before we have taken the lock.

3831a2a001 ath9k: dynack: use authentication messages for 'late' ack
In order to properly support dynack in ad-hoc mode running
wpa_supplicant, take into account authentication frames for
'late ack' detection. This patch has been tested on devices
mounted on offshore high-voltage stations connected through
~24Km link

79169f1486 ath10k: don't assume this is a PCI dev in generic code
Not all devices using this driver are backed by a PCI device, so it's
not fair to assume 'to_pci_dev()' is valid. Fortunately, we only were
using this to convert straight back to a bare 'device', which means we
were only doing no-op pointer arithmetic, and not actually accessing
potentially out-of-bounds memory. But this is still bad practice.

Just use 'ar->dev' directly, since that's really all we're looking for.

2bd345cd2b ath10k: assign 'n_cipher_suites' for WCN3990
Commit 2ea9f12cef ("ath10k: add new cipher suite support") added a new
n_cipher_suites HW param with a fallback value and a warning log. Commit
03a72288c5 ("ath10k: wmi: add hw params entry for wcn3990") later
added WCN3990 HW entries, but it missed the n_cipher_suites.

Rather than seeing this warning every boot

  ath10k_snoc 18800000.wifi: invalid hw_params.n_cipher_suites 0

let's provide the appropriate value.

bfe57a6ac7 ath10k: snoc: relax voltage requirements
I rarely see drivers specify precise voltage requirements like this, but
if we really have to...let's at least give a little wiggle room. Board
designs (and accompanying device trees) may not provide exactly the
voltage listed here, and we shouldn't fail to probe just because of
this.

Round these ranges down to the nearest volt, and provide a 0.05V margin.
The regulator should provide its own supported ranges, which will
helpfully intersect with these ranges.

I would just as well remove these ranges entirely, but if I understand
correctly, there's some reason that QCOM SoC's like to set zero /
non-zero voltages.

1a1a0d5cce ath10k: snoc: fix unabalanced regulator error handling
If a regulator fails to set its voltage, we end up with an unbalanced
call to regulator_disable(), because the error path starts with the
current regulator (which was never enabled).

Factor out the "on" function to perform (and unwind if failed) a single
regulator at a time, and then main loop (ath10k_snoc_vreg_on()) can just
worry about unwinding the regulators that were already enabled.

It also helps to factor out the "off" function, to avoid repeating some
code here.

84ec040d0f wil6210: fix debugfs memory access alignment
All wil6210 device memory access should be 4 bytes aligned. In io
blob wil6210 did not force alignment for read function, this caused
alignment fault on some platforms.
Fixing that by accessing all 4 lower bytes and return to host the

b571e71bcb wil6210: notify cqm packet loss on disable_ap_sme
wil6210 used to notify cfg80211_del_sta on every fw disconnect event.
In disable_ap_sme mode the userspace manages the protocol SME and
FW sends disconnect event only due to link loss.

In disable_ap_sme mode, indicate CQM packet loss to let the host
control the connection and disconnect the link if needed.

d083b2e2b7 wil6210: fix reset flow for Talyn-mb
With current reset flow, Talyn sometimes get stuck causing PCIe
enumeration to fail. Fix this by removing some reset flow operations
that are not relevant for Talyn.
Setting bit 15 in RGF_HP_CTRL is WBE specific and is not in use for
all wil6210 devices.
For Sparrow, BIT_HPAL_PERST_FROM_PAD and BIT_CAR_PERST_RST were set
as a WA an HW issue.

I had a couple concerns with this code.  First, we definitely need to
set the error code if the kzalloc() fails.  Secondly, I was worried that
if we didn't set "arsta->tx_stats" to NULL after freeing it, then it
looks to me like it might lead to a use after free.  I can't test that,
but it's harmless to set it to NULL so I did.

13104929d2 ath10k: fill the channel survey results for WCN3990 correctly
The host driver currently expects the channel info event to be
received in pairs for all the channels, i.e. the first
chan_info event for a particular channel will not have the
COMPLETE flag set and the second chan_info event for the
same channel will have the COMPLETE flag set.

The HL2.0 firmware sends only one channel info event per channel
which is scanned without the COMPLETE flag set. After sending the
chan_info_event for all the channels, the HL2.0 firmware sends a
chan_info_event with COMPLETE flag set to indicate the completion
of the channel info event.

The firmware does not indicate this behavior with any service bitmap
and hence a new firmware feature flag is used to handle the modified
parsing of the channel info events, in the host driver, for the
firmware which sends single channel info event per scanned channel.

0e622f67e0 ath10k: add support for WCN3990 firmware crash recovery
Whenever the WCN3990 firmware becomes unavailable,
the host driver receives a FW down indication, post
which all the direct hardware register access should
be avoided, in order to prevent improper behavior in
the host driver.

Set the crash_flush flag when the host driver receives
a FW_DOWN_IND via qmi, in order to stop the untimely
hardware register access. Also handle the case, where
we need to do core register only for the first FW_READY
indication, which is when we initialize the host driver.
All the subsequent FW_READY indication will be received
in subsystem recovery case and we only need to do the
restart work. The state of driver is maintained using
flags to distinguish between first and subsequent FW_READY
indication received.

72569b7be4 ath9k: fix RX_STAT_INC() etc macros
A couple of macros that deal with statistics in ath9k rely on the
declaration of the 'sc' variable, which they dereference.

However, when the statistics are disabled, the new instance in
ath_cmn_process_fft() causes a warning for an unused variable:

0738b4998c ath10k: allocate small size dma memory in ath10k_pci_diag_write_mem
ath10k_pci_diag_write_mem may allocate big size of the dma memory
based on the parameter nbytes. Take firmware diag download as
example, the biggest size is about 500K. In some systems, the
allocation is likely to fail because it can't acquire such a large
contiguous dma memory.

The fix is to allocate a small size dma memory. In the loop,
driver copies the data to the allocated dma memory and writes to
the destination until all the data is written.

Tested with QCA6174 PCI with
firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00119-QCARMSWP-1, this also affects
QCA9377 PCI.

9de4162f09 ath10k: add peer flush in ath10k_flush for STATION
In the noisy environment, if there are packets in the queue and can't
send out, the suspend timing will be more than 5 seconds due to the wait,
flush the queue to optimize the suspend timing, and let the upper layer to
retry the packets after resume.

Tested with QCA6174 PCI with firmware
WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00109-QCARMSWPZ-1, but this will also affect QCA9377 PCI.
It's not a regression with new firmware releases.

ce834e280f ath10k: support NET_DETECT WoWLAN feature
For WoWLAN support it is expected to support wake up based on discovery of
one or more known SSIDs. This is the WIPHY_WOWLAN_NET_DETECT feature,
which shows up as an NL80211 feature flag.

This shows up in 'iw phy' as:

WoWLAN support:
* wake up on network detection, up to 16 match sets

And it can be enabled with command:

iw phy0 wowlan enable net-detect interval 5000 delay 30 freqs 2412 matches ssid foo

Firmware will do scan by the configured parameters after suspend and
wakeup if it found matched SSIDs. Tested with QCA6174 hw3.0 with
firmware WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00110-QCARMSWPZ-1.

f1157695c5 ath10k: set probe request oui during driver start
Currently the wmi command for setting probe request
oui, needed for mac randomization, is sent during
the mac register. At this time, during the driver
init the wmi has already been detached. This can
cause unexpected behavior since the firmware is
already down and the wmi has been detached.

Send the wmi command for setting probe request
oui during the driver start. This will make sure
that the firmware is started and wmi is initialized
before we send this command.

6df0580be8 ath9k: add back support for using active monitor interfaces for tx99
Various documented examples on how to set up tx99 with ath9k rely
on setting up a regular monitor interface for setting the channel.
My previous patch "ath9k: fix tx99 with monitor mode interface" made
it possible to set it up this way again. However, it was removing support
for using an active monitor interface, which is required for controlling
the bitrate as well, since the bitrate is not passed down with a regular
monitor interface.

This patch partially reverts the previous one, but keeps support for using
a regular monitor interface to keep documented steps working in cases
where the bitrate does not matter

It seems like the lower 3 bits on my hardware are always zeroed, but the

2f85786b8a ath9k: fix and simplify FFT max index retrieval
FFT max index retrieval was not retrieved correctly for HT20/HT40 FFT
frames. Fixing the retrieval allows us to remove the fixup function as
well. While at it, split the spectral_max_index function into versions

With the latest firmware design, the beacon interval should be
greater than 100 to bring the multiple vaps.

Set beacon_int_min_gcd to 100, when the wmi service
WMI_SERVICE_VDEV_DIFFERENT_BEACON_INTERVAL_SUPPORT is enabled
in the firmware. If not, beacon_int_min_gcd will be set
to the default value 1.

d70c0d463f ath10k: add debugfs support to get power save state change of STA
This patch helps to get the power save state change of each peer
connected to the AP. With WMI_10_4_PEER_STA_PS_STATECHG_EVENTID
event, ps state of each peer is reported to user space via
debugfs.

Use the below command to get the ps state of each sta:
cat /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phyX/netdev::wlanX/stations/
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX/peer_ps_state

If STA is in power save state, we get the peer_ps_state value as 1.
if STA is not in power save state, we get the peer_ps_state value as 0.
If ps_state event is disabled, we get the peer_ps_state value as 2.

We can enable/disable the ps_state events using the debugfs flag
"ps_state_enable"

echo Y > /sys/kernel/debug/ieee80211/phyX/ath10k/ps_state_enable

Y = 1 to enable and Y = 0 to disable

Tested in QCA4019 with firmware ver 10.4-3.2.1.1-00011

f279294e9e ath10k: add support for configuring management packet rate
By default the firmware uses 1Mbps and 6Mbps rate for management packets
in 2G and 5G bands respectively. But when the user selects different
basic rates from the userspace, we need to send the management
packets at the lowest basic rate selected by the user.

This change makes use of WMI_VDEV_PARAM_MGMT_RATE param for configuring the
management packets rate to the firmware.

Chipsets Tested : QCA988X, QCA9887, QCA9984
FW Tested 	: 10.2.4-1.0-41, 10.4-3.6.104

08fafd646d ath10k: remove num_peers in hw_params for most targets
>From commit "ath10k: add per target config of max_num_peers",
the num_peers value in struct ath10k_hw_params is used to override
the value obtained from the WMI op version in the firmware file.

Currently, only high latency devices (USB and SDIO) need to use this
value, since the value obtained from the WMI op version is not
applicable for these devices.

Many devices in ath10k_hw_params_list have the wrong value set.

An example of this is the QCA9880 hw2.0 chipset that had (before this
patch) num_peers set to TARGET_TLV_NUM_PEERS although the firmware
uses WMI version ATH10K_FW_WMI_OP_VERSION_10_2_4.

Using the wrong value for the QCA9880 chip results in a fw crash:

234e4307cf ath10k: utilize random MAC address if none is provided
Since commit 9d5804662c ("ath10k: retrieve MAC address from system
firmware if provided"), we support pulling our MAC address from system
firmware. Along with this, we should admit that it's possible for system
firmware to be screwed up as well, omitting the MAC address there.

Provide a fallback, such that we choose a randomly-generated MAC
address, with the local assignment bit set.

This is not a preferred mode of operation and really should only serve
the purpose of keeping the system chugging along while someone figures
out what's wrong with the system. Grepping through other wireless
drivers shows very similar fallback logic though, so why not?

058a7eab9d ath10k: fix tx status flag setting for management frames
The tx_status for management frames is being filled
incorrectly in the flags of skb_cb. This incorrect
flag setting causes the upper layers to consider that
the particular frame was not transmitted properly,
leading to improper behavior.

Set the IEEE80211_TX_STAT_ACK flag in the info flags
of skb_cb, to indicate the successful transmission of
the management frame.

37f62c0d58 ath10k: wmi: disable softirq's while calling ieee80211_rx
This is done in order not to trig the below warning in
ieee80211_rx_napi:

WARN_ON_ONCE(softirq_count() == 0);

ieee80211_rx_napi requires that softirq's are disabled during
execution.

The High latency bus drivers (SDIO and USB) sometimes call the wmi
ep_rx_complete callback from non softirq context, resulting in a trigger
of the above warning.

Calling ieee80211_rx_ni with softirq's already disabled (e.g., from
softirq context) should be safe as the local_bh_disable and
local_bh_enable functions (called from ieee80211_rx_ni) are fully
reentrant.

f88d493450 ath10k: htt: High latency RX support
Special HTT RX handling for high latency interfaces.

Since no DMA physical addresses are used in the RX ring
config message (this is not supported by the high latency
devices), no RX ring is allocated.
All RX skb's are allocated by the driver and passed directly
to mac80211 in the HTT RX indication handler.

A nice side effect of this is that no huge buffer will be
allocated with dma_alloc_coherent. On embedded systems with
limited memory resources, the allocation of the RX ring is
prone to fail.

Some tweaks made to "make it work":

Removal of protected bit in 802.11 header frame control field.
The chipset seems to do hw decryption but the frame_control
protected bit is still set.

This is necessary for mac80211 not to drop the frame.

hw_params->num_peers is used in the TLV WMI init command.

39501ea641 ath10k: download firmware via diag Copy Engine for QCA6174 and QCA9377.
Downloading firmware via BMI protocol takes too long time. For example,
a ~700K bytes firmware takes about 500ms to download via BMI protocol.
This is too long especially in suspend and resume scenario where firmware
is re-downloaded unless WoWLAN is enabled. Downloading firmware via diag CE
can reduce the time to ~40ms for a ~700K bytes firmware binary.

Ath10k driver parses the firmware to segments and downloads the segments
to the specified address directly. If the firmware is compressed or has
unsupported segments, ath10k driver will try BMI download again.

It's tested with QCA6174 hw3.2 and
firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00111-QCARMSWP-1. QCA9377 is also affected.

bc346c9a24 ath10k: support to access target space below 1M for qca6174 and qca9377
To download firmware via diag interface, driver needs to write the target
memory space below 1M. It means the bit20 should be zero for the converted
address if the target memory space is below 1M. Otherwise, bit20 is one if
the target address is larger or equal to 1M space.

As downloading firmware via diag interface is only required for qca6174
and qca9377, a new specific function is introduced to convert the target
address to ce address: ath10k_pci_qca6174_targ_cpu_to_ce_addri().
This function supports to convert any target address to ce address.

It's tested with QCA6174 hw3.2 and
firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00111-QCARMSWP-1. QCA9377 is also affected.

d56bbeea25 ath10k: optimize pci diag mem read & write operations
Delay 1ms is too long for both diag read and write operations.
This is observed when writing a big memory buffer to target or
reading a big memory buffer from target. Take writing/reading
512k bytes as example, the delay itself is 256ms as the maximum
length of every write/read is 2k size.

Reduce the delay to 50us for read and write operations.

Take the ath10k_pci_targ_cpu_to_ce_addr() out of loop and put it
in the beginning of the loop for ath10k_pci_diag_read_mem().

The ath10k_pci_targ_cpu_to_ce_addr() is to convert the address
from target cpu's perspective to CE's perspective, so it makes
no sense to convert a CE's perspective address again in the loop.
It's a wrong implementation but happens to work.

If the target address is below 1M space, then the convert in the loop
from the second time becomes wrong because the previously converted address
is larger than 1M. The counterpart ath10k_pci_diag_write_mem() has the
correct implementation.

With this change, ath10k_pci_diage_read_mem() works correctly no matter
the target address is below 1M or above 1M.

It's tested with QCA6174 hw3.2 and
firmware-6.bin_WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00111-QCARMSWP-1. QCA9377 is also affected.

c7fd8d237e ath10k: average ack rssi support for data frames
Average ack rssi value is weighted average of ack rssi for
no of msdu's has been sent.
This feature is enabled by the host driver if firmware is capable.
After receiving event from host, firmware allocates the necessary
memory to store the ack_rssi for data packets during the init time.

After each successful transmission, If tx completion status is OK
and 24th bit is set in HTT message header then host will fetch the
ack_rssi else host can ignore the ack_rssi field.

9abcb9371b ath10k: introduce CE_ATTR_POLL attribute for polling pipe
Existing copy engine interrupt enable logic assumes that last
CE is using polling mode and due to this interrupt for last copy engine
are always disabled. WCN3990 uses last CE for pktlog and
interrupt remains disabled with existing logic.

To mitigate this issue, introduce CE_ATTR_POLL flag and control
the interrupt based on the flag which can be set in ce_attr.

31324d1797 ath10k: support extended board data download for dual-band QCA9984
To support dual-band variant of QCA9984, new extended board data (eBDF)
is introduced since existing board data ran out of space.

Below is the brief implementation & design detail,

1. New OTP changes to inform eBDF support in existing OTP download to
fetch board ID and chip ID. This is backward compatible and older
card sends 0 by default for eBDF support bit (bit 18 of OTP response) we
check in ath10k driver.

2. If eBDF is supported, then we need to fetch eBDF ID which is bundled
in downloaded board data. So again OTP is executed for knowing the eBDF ID.
This is done once we set 'board_data_initialized' bit. If eBDF ID
returned is zero, we continue booting with previous board data downloaded.

3. Based on the eBDF ID fetched, ath10k driver tries to download the
extended board data to a new offset ahead of already downloaded board
data address.

4. A new BD IE type, ATH10K_BD_IE_BOARD_EXT is added to differentiate in
bundling eBDF separately in board-2.bin and also to parse through
board bundle for eBDF download in ath10k boot.

5. If eBDF is not present in the board-2.bin bundle or when board ID is
zero, we do a fallback boot to "eboard.bin" in the same QCA9984/hw1.0 dir.
This is same as done to existing "board.bin" if board ID is not present
in board-2.bin bundle.

Current design is that eBDF size will be 2KB and eBDF ID will be
byte value.

Tested the above changes with dual-band variant of QCA9984 card. OTP
update needed for the test will be part of next FW release 10.4-3.6-xxxx.

828853ac58 ath10k: add waiting htt tx complete before wow enable
If there are some tx packets pending in firmware, and then system
enters suspend, firmware will fail for wow enable. This will trigger
mac80211 to stop ath10k and download firmware again, then it is
non-wow suspend.

After add the waiting htt tx complete, then firmware will have some
time window to send or flush the pending tx packets.

Tested with QCA6174 PCI with firmware
WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00109-QCARMSWPZ-1, but this will also affect QCA9377 PCI.
It's not a regression with new firmware releases.

9d5804662c ath10k: retrieve MAC address from system firmware if provided
Devices may provide their own MAC address via system firmware (e.g.,
device tree), especially in the case where the device doesn't have a
useful EEPROM on which to store its MAC address (e.g., for integrated
Wifi).

Use the generic device helper to retrieve the MAC address, and (if
present) honor it above the MAC address advertised by the card.

Tri-band devices (1x 2.4GHz + 2x 5GHz) often incorporate special filters in
the RX and TX path. These filtered channel can in theory still be used by
the hardware but the signal strength is reduced so much that it makes no
sense.

There is already a DT property to limit the available channels but ath10k
has to manually call this functionality to limit the currrently set wiphy
channels further.

84f16fbb62 wil6210: fix RX buffers release and unmap
RX SKBs are released in both wil6210 rmmod and RX handle.
As there is no lock to protect the buffers DMA unmap,
the SKB pointer in buff_arr is used to check if the buffer
memory was already released.
Setting wil->rx_buff_mgmt.buff_arr[buff_id].skb to NULL before the DMA
memory unmap will prevent duplicate unmapping of the same memory.
Move the buffer ID to the free list also in case the SKB is NULL.

df2b53884a wil6210: prevent usage of tx ring 0 for eDMA
In enhanced DMA ring 0 is used for RX ring, hence TX ring 0
is an unused element in ring_tx and ring2cid_tid arrays.
Initialize ring2cid_tid CID to WIL6210_MAX_CID to prevent a false
match of CID 0.
Go over the ring_tx and ring2cid_tid from wil_get_min_tx_ring_id
and on to prevent access to index 0 in eDMA.

Delivering a looped-back multicast packet to network stack can cause
higher layer protocols to fail like for example IPv6 DAD.
In STA mode, upon receiving Rx multicast packet, check if the source
MAC address is equal to our own MAC address and if so drop the packet.

Tx99 is typically configured via a monitor mode interface, which does
not get added to the driver as a vif. Since the code currently expects

06ae8dc004 ath10k: use struct_size() in kzalloc()
One of the more common cases of allocation size calculations is finding
the size of a structure that has a zero-sized array at the end, along
with memory for some number of elements for that array. For example:

Instead of leaving these open-coded and prone to type mistakes, we can
now use the new struct_size() helper:

a9911937e7 ath10k: schedule hardware restart if WMI command times out
When running in AP mode, ath10k sometimes suffers from TX credit
starvation. The issue is hard to reproduce and shows up once in a
few days, but has been repeatedly seen with QCA9882 and a large
range of firmwares, including 10.2.4.70.67.

Once the module is in this state, TX credits are never replenished,
which results in "SWBA overrun" errors, as no beacons can be sent.
Even worse, WMI commands run in a timeout while holding the conf
mutex for three seconds each, making any further operations slow
and the whole system unresponsive.

The firmware/driver never recovers from that state automatically,
and triggering TX flush or warm restarts won't work over WMI. So
issue a hardware restart if a WMI command times out due to missing
TX credits. This implies a connectivity outage of about 1.4s in AP
mode, but brings back the interface and the whole system to a usable
state. WMI command timeouts have not been seen in absent of this
specific issue, so taking such drastic actions seems legitimate.

58da3b4230 ath10k: skip resetting rx filter for WCN3990
WCN3990 has the MAC_PCU_ADDR1 configured properly
and hence it will not send spurious ack frames
during boot up.

Hence the reset_rx_filter workaround is not needed
for WCN3990. Add a hw_param to indicate if hardware rx
filter reset is needed and skip the reset_rx_filter for
WCN3990.

When continuously running wifi up/down sequence, the napi poll
can be scheduled after the CE buffers being freed by ath10k_pci_flush

Steps:
  In a certain condition, during wifi down below scenario might occur.

ath10k_stop->ath10k_hif_stop->napi_schedule->ath10k_pci_flush->napi_poll(napi_synchronize).

In the above scenario, CE buffer entries will be freed up and become NULL in
ath10k_pci_flush. And the napi_poll has been invoked after the flush process
and it will try to get the skb from the CE buffer entry and perform some action on that.
Since the CE buffer already cleaned by pci flush this action will create NULL
pointer dereference and trigger below kernel panic.

WMI_LINK_STATS_CMDID.
FW will report statistics with WMI_LINK_STATS_EVENTID.
Two categories of statistics defined: basic and global.

New "link_stats" debugfs is used for requesting basic statistics
report (write) and for reading the basic statistics (read).
"link_stats_global" debugfs is used for requesting and reading the
global statistics.

Extend MSI support to 3-MSI in order to load balance the tx\rx
interrupts between different cores.
use_msi module parameter has changed to n_msi. Usage:
- Set n_msi to 0 for using INTx
- Set n_msi to 1 for using single MSI
- Set n_msi to 3 for using 3-MSI

In 3-MSI configuration MSI 0 is used for TX interrupts, MSI 1
is used for RX interrupts and MSI 2 is used for MISC interrupts.

461d8a6bb9 ath9k_hw: fix channel maximum power level test
The tx power applied by set_txpower is limited by the CTL (conformance
test limit) entries in the EEPROM. These can change based on the user
configured regulatory domain.
Depending on the EEPROM data this can cause the tx power to become too
limited, if the original regdomain CTLs impose lower limits than the CTLs
of the user configured regdomain.

To fix this issue, set the initial channel limits without any CTL
restrictions and only apply the CTL at run time when setting the channel
and the real tx power.

3f25911158 ath10k: prevent active scans on potential unusable channels
The QCA4019 hw1.0 firmware 10.4-3.2.1-00050 and 10.4-3.5.3-00053 (and most
likely all other) seem to ignore the WMI_CHAN_FLAG_DFS flag during the
scan. This results in transmission (probe requests) on channels which are
not "available" for transmissions.

Since the firmware is closed source and nothing can be done from our side
to fix the problem in it, the driver has to work around this problem. The
WMI_CHAN_FLAG_PASSIVE seems to be interpreted by the firmware to not
scan actively on a channel unless an AP was detected on it. Simple probe
requests will then be transmitted by the STA on the channel.

ath10k must therefore also use this flag when it queues a radar channel for
scanning. This should reduce the chance of an active scan when the channel
might be "unusable" for transmissions.

Debugfs support to do hardware warm reset with WMI command
WMI_PDEV_PARAM_PDEV_RESET for 10.4 and 10.2.4(if wmi

This change is purely for debugging purpose when hardware hangs/mutes.

This hardware reset won't affect the connectivity but there will be small
pause in data traffic. Here we are doing BB/MAC level reset and hence
whenever the BB/MAC watchdog is triggered, it does a hardware_chip_reset.
So the target will be in the active state.

dc405152bb ath10k: handle mgmt tx completion event
WCN3990 transmits management frames via WMI
with reference. Currently, with the management
tx completion not being handled, these frames are
not getting freed even after the transmission status
is returned by the firmware.

The transmitted management frames should be freed
when the firmware sends the over-the-air tx status of
the corresponding management frames.

Handle the wmi mgmt tx completion event and free
the corresponding management frame.

673bc519c5 ath10k: disable bundle mgmt tx completion event support
The tx completion of multiple mgmt frames can be bundled
in a single event and sent by the firmware to host, if this
capability is not disabled explicitly by the host. If the host
cannot handle the bundled mgmt tx completion, this capability
support needs to be disabled in the wmi init cmd, sent to the firmware.

Add the host capability indication flag in the wmi ready command,
to let firmware know the features supported by the host driver.
This field is ignored if it is not supported by firmware.

Set the host capability indication flag(i.e. host_capab) to zero,
for disabling the support of bundle mgmt tx completion. This will
indicate the firmware to send completion event for every mgmt tx
completion, instead of bundling them together and sending in a single
event.

ac3167257b headers: separate linux/mod_devicetable.h from linux/platform_device.h
At over 4000 #includes, <linux/platform_device.h> is the 9th most
#included header file in the Linux kernel.  It does not need
<linux/mod_devicetable.h>, so drop that header and explicitly add
<linux/mod_devicetable.h> to source files that need it.

   4146 #include <linux/platform_device.h>

After this patch, there are 225 files that use <linux/mod_devicetable.h>,
for a reduction of around 3900 times that <linux/mod_devicetable.h>
does not have to be read & parsed.

    225 #include <linux/mod_devicetable.h>

This patch was build-tested on 20 different arch-es.

It also makes these drivers SubmitChecklist#1 compliant.

FW download via PCIe, SPI or PBL for secured access.

96c93589e2 wil6210: initialize TX and RX enhanced DMA rings
Enhanced DMA design includes the following rings:
- Single RX descriptor ring is used for all VIFs
- Multiple RX status rings are supported, to allow RSS
- TX descriptor ring is allocated per connection
- A single TX status ring is used for all TX descriptor rings

This patch initializes and frees the above descriptor and
status rings.

The RX SKBs are handled by a new entity of RX buffers manager,
which handles RX buffers, each one points to an allocated SKB.
During Rx completion processing, the driver extracts a buffer
ID which is used as an index to the buffers array.
After the SKB is freed the buffer is moved from the 'active'
list to the 'free' list, indicating it can be used for another
descriptor. During Rx refill, SKBs are allocated and attached
to 'free' buffers. Those buffers are attached to new descriptors
and moved to the 'active' list.

New debugfs entries were added to allow edma configuration:

In enhanced DMA the vrings are handled internally by the FW
and are not exposed to the driver.
Instead, the driver handles descriptor rings, which are mapped
by the FW to vrings.
The completions of the TX and RX descriptors are notified to
the driver using status rings. Each status ring descriptor
includes information of the completed descriptors and the ring id
of their descriptor ring.

This patch changes struct vring to generic wil_ring to allow
its reuse for enhanced DMA descriptor rings and adds the descriptor
and status rings specific descriptors.

The vring debugfs entries have changed as follows:
- dbg_vring_index has changed to dbg_ring_index
- vrings has changed to rings
- vring_idle_trsh has changed to ring_idle_trsh
- vring_index has changed to ring_index

679e1f07c8 ath10k: sdio: use same endpoint id for all packets in a bundle
All packets in a bundle should use the same endpoint id as the
first lookahead.

This matches how things are done is ath6kl, however,
this patch can theoretically handle several bundles
in ath10k_sdio_mbox_rx_process_packets().

Without this patch we get lots of errors about invalid endpoint id:

In case of WEP encryption, driver has to configure shared key for
associated station(s). Note that sta pointer is NULL in case of non
pairwise key, causing NULL pointer dereference with existing code
(sta_priv->is_data_encrypted). Fix this by using associated sta list
instead. This enables WEP support as client, WEP AP is non-functional.

The trace points to a corrupt skb inside kfree_skb(), seemingly because
one of the shared skb queues is getting corrupted.  Most of the skb queues
ath10k uses are local to a single call stack, but three are shared among
multiple codepaths:

 - rx_msdus_q,
 - rx_in_ord_compl_q, and
 - tx_fetch_ind_q

Of the three, the first two are manipulated using the unlocked skb_queue
functions without any additional lock protecting them.  Use the locked
variants of skb_queue_* functions to protect these manipulations.

84a0d4669c ath9k: use irqsave() in USB's complete callback
The USB completion callback does not disable interrupts while acquiring
the lock. We want to remove the local_irq_disable() invocation from
__usb_hcd_giveback_urb() and therefore it is required for the callback
handler to disable the interrupts while acquiring the lock.
The callback may be invoked either in IRQ or BH context depending on the
USB host controller.
Use the _irqsave() variant of the locking primitives.

e4568eac04 ath10k: replace hardcoded constant with define
The hardcoded values used in ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending and
ath10k_mac_op_wake_tx_queue set an upper limit of how many packets that
can be consumed from the TX queue.

HTC_HOST_MAX_MSG_PER_TX_BUNDLE is a proper name for this constant, as
the value effectively limits the number of messages that can be consumed
in one step. Thus, the value is an upper limit of the number of messages
that can be added to a TX message bundle.

d1a566bec5 ath10k: fix bug in masking of TID value
Although the TID mask is 0xf, the modulus operation does still not
produce identical results as the bitwise and operator. If the TID is 15, the
modulus operation will "convert" it to 0, whereas the bitwise and will keep it
as 15.

This was found during code review.

168f75f11f ath10k: protect ath10k_htt_rx_ring_free with rx_ring.lock
While debugging driver crashes related to a buggy firmware
crashing under load, I noticed that ath10k_htt_rx_ring_free
could be called without being under lock.  I'm not sure if this
is the root cause of the crash or not, but it seems prudent to
protect it.

Originally tested on 4.16+ kernel with ath10k-ct 10.4 firmware
running on 9984 NIC.

There are frames in the ieee80211_txq and there are frames that have
been removed from from this queue, but haven't yet been sent on the wire
(num_pending_tx).

When num_pending_tx reaches max_num_pending_tx, we will stop the queues
by calling ieee80211_stop_queues().

As frames that have previously been sent for transmission
(num_pending_tx) are completed, we will decrease num_pending_tx and wake
the queues by calling ieee80211_wake_queue(). ieee80211_wake_queue()
does not call wake_tx_queue, so we might still have frames in the
queue at this point.

While the queues were stopped, the socket buffer might have filled up,
and in order for user space to write more, we need to free the frames
in the queue, since they are accounted to the socket. In order to free
them, we first need to transmit them.

This problem cannot be reproduced on low-latency devices, e.g. pci,
since they call ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending() from
ath10k_htt_txrx_compl_task(). ath10k_htt_txrx_compl_task() is not called
on high-latency devices.
Fix the problem by calling ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending(), after
processing rx packets, just like for low-latency devices, also in the
SDIO case. Since we are calling ath10k_mac_tx_push_pending() directly,
we also need to export it.

c829198880 ath10k: fix scan crash due to incorrect length calculation
Length of WMI scan message was not calculated correctly. The allocated
buffer was smaller than what we expected. So WMI message corrupted
skb_info, which is at the end of skb->data. This fix takes TLV header
into account even if the element is zero-length.

9191fc2a43 ath10k: update the phymode along with bandwidth change request
In the case of Station connects to AP with narrower bandwidth at beginning.
And later the AP changes the bandwidth to winder bandwidth, the AP will
beacon with wider bandwidth IE, eg VHT20->VHT40->VHT80 or VHT40->VHT80.

Since the supported BANDWIDTH will be limited by the PHYMODE, so while
Station receives the bandwidth change request, it will also need to
reconfigure the PHYMODE setting to firmware instead of just configuring
the BANDWIDTH info, otherwise it'll trigger a firmware crash with
non-support bandwidth.

The issue was observed in WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00051-QCARMSWP-1, QCA6174 with
below scenario:

22d0d2fafc wireless-drivers: use BIT_ULL for NL80211_STA_INFO_ attribute types
The BIT macro uses unsigned long which some architectures handle as 32 bit
and therefore might cause macro's shift to overflow when used on a value
equals or larger than 32 (NL80211_STA_INFO_RX_DURATION and afterwards).

Since 'filled' member in station_info changed to u64, BIT_ULL macro
should be used with all NL80211_STA_INFO_* attribute types instead of BIT
to prevent future possible bugs when one will use BIT macro for higher
attributes by mistake.

This commit cleans up all usages of BIT macro with the above field
in wireless-drivers by changing it to BIT_ULL instead. In addition, there are
some places which don't use BIT nor BIT_ULL macros so align those as well.
