This patch enables idmapped mounts for f2fs, since all dedicated helpers
for this functionality existsm, so, in this patch we just pass down the
user_namespace argument from the VFS methods to the relevant helpers.
Simple idmap example on f2fs image:
1. truncate -s 128M f2fs.img
2. mkfs.f2fs f2fs.img
3. mount f2fs.img /mnt/f2fs/
4. touch /mnt/f2fs/file
5. ls -ln /mnt/f2fs/
total 0
-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 0 2月 4 13:17 file
6. ./mount-idmapped --map-mount b:0:1001:1 /mnt/f2fs/ /mnt/scratch_f2fs/
7. ls -ln /mnt/scratch_f2fs/
total 0

Once F2FS_IPU_FORCE policy is enabled in some cases:
a) f2fs forces to use F2FS_IPU_FORCE in a small-sized volume
b) user sets F2FS_IPU_FORCE policy via sysfs
Then we may fail to defragment file due to IPU policy check, it doesn't
make sense, let's introduce a new IPU policy to allow OPU during file
defragmentation.
In small-sized volume, let's enable F2FS_IPU_HONOR_OPU_WRITE policy

unicode: clean up the Kconfig symbol confusion
f2fs rw_semaphores work better if writers can starve readers,
especially for the checkpoint thread, because writers are strictly
more important than reader threads. This prevents significant priority
inversion between low-priority readers that blocked while trying to
acquire the read lock and a second acquisition of the write lock that
might be blocking high priority work.

Turn the CONFIG_UNICODE symbol into a tristate that generates some always
built in code and remove the confusing CONFIG_UNICODE_UTF8_DATA symbol.
Note that a lot of the IS_ENABLED() checks could be turned from cpp
statements into normal ifs, but this change is intended to be fairly
mechanic, so that should be cleaned up later.

Enhancement:
- use iomap for direct IO
- try to avoid lock contention to improve f2fs_ckpt speed
- avoid unnecessary memory allocation in compression flow
- POSIX_FADV_DONTNEED drops the page cache containing compression pages
- add some sysfs entries (gc_urgent_high_remaining, pending_discard)
Bug fix:

: this was added to avoid merge conflict; another patch is coming to address
other missing case.
- relax minor error condition for file pinning feature used in Android OTA
- fix potential deadlock case in compression flow
- should not truncate any block on pinned file

Various places in the kernel - largely in filesystems - respond to a
memory allocation failure by looping around and re-trying. Some of
these cannot conveniently use __GFP_NOFAIL, for reasons such as:
- a GFP_ATOMIC allocation, which __GFP_NOFAIL doesn't work on
- a need to check for the process being signalled between failures
- the possibility that other recovery actions could be performed
- the allocation is quite deep in support code, and passing down an
extra flag to say if __GFP_NOFAIL is wanted would be clumsy.
Many of these currently use congestion_wait() which (in almost all
cases) simply waits the given timeout - congestion isn't tracked for
most devices.
It isn't clear what the best delay is for loops, but it is clear that
the various filesystems shouldn't be responsible for choosing a timeout.
This patch introduces memalloc_retry_wait() with takes on that
responsibility. Code that wants to retry a memory allocation can call
this function passing the GFP flags that were used. It will wait
however is appropriate.
For now, it only considers __GFP_NORETRY and whatever
gfpflags_allow_blocking() tests. If blocking is allowed without
__GFP_NORETRY, then alloc_page either made some reclaim progress, or
waited for a while, before failing. So there is no need for much
further waiting. memalloc_retry_wait() will wait until the current
jiffie ends. If this condition is not met, then alloc_page() won't have
waited much if at all. In that case memalloc_retry_wait() waits about
200ms. This is the delay that most current loops uses.
linux/sched/mm.h needs to be included in some files now,
but linux/backing-dev.h does not.

The root cause here is, with IO alignment feature enables, in worst
case, we need F2FS_IO_SIZE() free blocks space for single one 4k write
due to IO alignment feature will fill dummy pages to make IO being
aligned.
So we will easily run out of free segments during non-inline directory's
data writeback, even in process of foreground GC.
In order to fix this issue, I just propose to reserve additional free
space for IO alignment feature to handle worst case of free space usage
ratio during FGGC.

This PR includes 5 commits that update the zstd library version:
1. Adds a new kernel-style wrapper around zstd. This wrapper API
is functionally equivalent to the subset of the current zstd API that is
currently used. The wrapper API changes to be kernel style so that the symbols
don't collide with zstd's symbols. The update to zstd-1.4.10 maintains the same
API and preserves the semantics, so that none of the callers need to be
updated. All callers are updated in the commit, because there are zero
functional changes.
2. Adds an indirection for `lib/decompress_unzstd.c` so it
doesn't depend on the layout of `lib/zstd/` to include every source file.
This allows the next patch to be automatically generated.
3. Imports the zstd-1.4.10 source code. This commit is automatically generated
from upstream zstd (https://github.com/facebook/zstd).
4. Adds me (terrelln@fb.com) as the maintainer of `lib/zstd`.
5. Fixes a newly added build warning for clang.
The discussion around this patchset has been pretty long, so I've included a
FAQ-style summary of the history of the patchset, and why we are taking this
approach.
Why do we need to update?
-------------------------
The zstd version in the kernel is based off of zstd-1.3.1, which is was released
August 20, 2017. Since then zstd has seen many bug fixes and performance
improvements. And, importantly, upstream zstd is continuously fuzzed by OSS-Fuzz,
and bug fixes aren't backported to older versions. So the only way to sanely get
these fixes is to keep up to date with upstream zstd. There are no known security
issues that affect the kernel, but we need to be able to update in case there
are. And while there are no known security issues, there are relevant bug fixes.
For example the problem with large kernel decompression has been fixed upstream
for over 2 years https://lkml.org/lkml/2020/9/29/27.
Additionally the performance improvements for kernel use cases are significant.
Measured for x86_64 on my Intel i9-9900k @ 3.6 GHz:
- BtrFS zstd compression at levels 1 and 3 is 5% faster
- BtrFS zstd decompression+read is 15% faster
- SquashFS zstd decompression+read is 15% faster
- F2FS zstd compression+write at level 3 is 8% faster
- F2FS zstd decompression+read is 20% faster
- ZRAM decompression+read is 30% faster
- Kernel zstd decompression is 35% faster
- Initramfs zstd decompression+build is 5% faster
On top of this, there are significant performance improvements coming down the
line in the next zstd release, and the new automated update patch generation
will allow us to pull them easily.
How is the update patch generated?
----------------------------------
The first two patches are preparation for updating the zstd version. Then the
3rd patch in the series imports upstream zstd into the kernel. This patch is
automatically generated from upstream. A script makes the necessary changes and
imports it into the kernel. The changes are:
- Replace all libc dependencies with kernel replacements and rewrite includes.
- Remove unncessary portability macros like: #if defined(_MSC_VER).
- Use the kernel xxhash instead of bundling it.
This automation gets tested every commit by upstream's continuous integration.
When we cut a new zstd release, we will submit a patch to the kernel to update
the zstd version in the kernel.
The automated process makes it easy to keep the kernel version of zstd up to
date. The current zstd in the kernel shares the guts of the code, but has a lot
of API and minor changes to work in the kernel. This is because at the time
upstream zstd was not ready to be used in the kernel envrionment as-is. But,
since then upstream zstd has evolved to support being used in the kernel as-is.
Why are we updating in one big patch?
-------------------------------------
The 3rd patch in the series is very large. This is because it is restructuring
the code, so it both deletes the existing zstd, and re-adds the new structure.
Future updates will be directly proportional to the changes in upstream zstd
since the last import. They will admittidly be large, as zstd is an actively
developed project, and has hundreds of commits between every release. However,
there is no other great alternative.
One option ruled out is to replay every upstream zstd commit. This is not feasible
for several reasons:
- There are over 3500 upstream commits since the zstd version in the kernel.
- The automation to automatically generate the kernel update was only added recently,
so older commits cannot easily be imported.
- Not every upstream zstd commit builds.
- Only zstd releases are "supported", and individual commits may have bugs that were
fixed before a release.
Another option to reduce the patch size would be to first reorganize to the new
file structure, and then apply the patch. However, the current kernel zstd is formatted
with clang-format to be more "kernel-like". But, the new method imports zstd as-is,
without additional formatting, to allow for closer correlation with upstream, and
easier debugging. So the patch wouldn't be any smaller.
It also doesn't make sense to import upstream zstd commit by commit going
forward. Upstream zstd doesn't support production use cases running of the
development branch. We have a lot of post-commit fuzzing that catches many bugs,
so indiviudal commits may be buggy, but fixed before a release. So going forward,
I intend to import every (important) zstd release into the Kernel.
So, while it isn't ideal, updating in one big patch is the only patch I see forward.
Who is responsible for this code?
---------------------------------
I am. This patchset adds me as the maintainer for zstd. Previously, there was no tree
for zstd patches. Because of that, there were several patches that either got ignored,
or took a long time to merge, since it wasn't clear which tree should pick them up.
I'm officially stepping up as maintainer, and setting up my tree as the path through
which zstd patches get merged. I'll make sure that patches to the kernel zstd get
ported upstream, so they aren't erased when the next version update happens.
How is this code tested?
------------------------
I tested every caller of zstd on x86_64 (BtrFS, ZRAM, SquashFS, F2FS, Kernel,
InitRAMFS). I also tested Kernel & InitRAMFS on i386 and aarch64. I checked both
performance and correctness.
Also, thanks to many people in the community who have tested these patches locally.
If you have tested the patches, please reply with a Tested-By so I can collect them
for the PR I will send to Linus.
Lastly, this code will bake in linux-next before being merged into v5.16.
Why update to zstd-1.4.10 when zstd-1.5.0 has been released?
------------------------------------------------------------
This patchset has been outstanding since 2020, and zstd-1.4.10 was the latest
release when it was created. Since the update patch is automatically generated
from upstream, I could generate it from zstd-1.5.0. However, there were some
large stack usage regressions in zstd-1.5.0, and are only fixed in the latest
development branch. And the latest development branch contains some new code that
needs to bake in the fuzzer before I would feel comfortable releasing to the
kernel.
Once this patchset has been merged, and we've released zstd-1.5.1, we can update
the kernel to zstd-1.5.1, and exercise the update process.
You may notice that zstd-1.4.10 doesn't exist upstream. This release is an
artifical release based off of zstd-1.4.9, with some fixes for the kernel
backported from the development branch. I will tag the zstd-1.4.10 release after
this patchset is merged, so the Linux Kernel is running a known version of zstd
that can be debugged upstream.
Why was a wrapper API added?
----------------------------
The first versions of this patchset migrated the kernel to the upstream zstd
API. It first added a shim API that supported the new upstream API with the old
code, then updated callers to use the new shim API, then transitioned to the
new code and deleted the shim API. However, Cristoph Hellwig suggested that we
transition to a kernel style API, and hide zstd's upstream API behind that.
This is because zstd's upstream API is supports many other use cases, and does
not follow the kernel style guide, while the kernel API is focused on the
kernel's use cases, and follows the kernel style guide.

Merge tag 'zstd-for-linus-v5.16' of git://github.com/terrelln/linux
Pull zstd update from Nick Terrell:
"Update to zstd-1.4.10.
Add myself as the maintainer of zstd and update the zstd version in
the kernel, which is now 4 years out of date, to a much more recent
zstd release. This includes bug fixes, much more extensive fuzzing,
and performance improvements. And generates the kernel zstd
automatically from upstream zstd, so it is easier to keep the zstd
verison up to date, and we don't fall so far out of date again.
This includes 5 commits that update the zstd library version:
- Adds a new kernel-style wrapper around zstd.
This wrapper API is functionally equivalent to the subset of the
current zstd API that is currently used. The wrapper API changes to
be kernel style so that the symbols don't collide with zstd's
symbols. The update to zstd-1.4.10 maintains the same API and
preserves the semantics, so that none of the callers need to be
updated. All callers are updated in the commit, because there are
zero functional changes.
- Adds an indirection for `lib/decompress_unzstd.c` so it doesn't
depend on the layout of `lib/zstd/` to include every source file.
This allows the next patch to be automatically generated.
- Imports the zstd-1.4.10 source code. This commit is automatically
generated from upstream zstd (https://github.com/facebook/zstd).
- Adds me (terrelln@fb.com) as the maintainer of `lib/zstd`.
- Fixes a newly added build warning for clang.
The discussion around this patchset has been pretty long, so I've
included a FAQ-style summary of the history of the patchset, and why
we are taking this approach.
Why do we need to update?
-------------------------
The zstd version in the kernel is based off of zstd-1.3.1, which is
was released August 20, 2017. Since then zstd has seen many bug fixes
and performance improvements. And, importantly, upstream zstd is
continuously fuzzed by OSS-Fuzz, and bug fixes aren't backported to
older versions. So the only way to sanely get these fixes is to keep
up to date with upstream zstd.
There are no known security issues that affect the kernel, but we need
to be able to update in case there are. And while there are no known
security issues, there are relevant bug fixes. For example the problem
with large kernel decompression has been fixed upstream for over 2
years [1]
Additionally the performance improvements for kernel use cases are
significant. Measured for x86_64 on my Intel i9-9900k @ 3.6 GHz:
- BtrFS zstd compression at levels 1 and 3 is 5% faster
- BtrFS zstd decompression+read is 15% faster
- SquashFS zstd decompression+read is 15% faster
- F2FS zstd compression+write at level 3 is 8% faster
- F2FS zstd decompression+read is 20% faster
- ZRAM decompression+read is 30% faster
- Kernel zstd decompression is 35% faster
- Initramfs zstd decompression+build is 5% faster
On top of this, there are significant performance improvements coming
down the line in the next zstd release, and the new automated update
patch generation will allow us to pull them easily.
How is the update patch generated?
----------------------------------
The first two patches are preparation for updating the zstd version.
Then the 3rd patch in the series imports upstream zstd into the
kernel. This patch is automatically generated from upstream. A script
makes the necessary changes and imports it into the kernel. The
changes are:
- Replace all libc dependencies with kernel replacements and rewrite
includes.
- Remove unncessary portability macros like: #if defined(_MSC_VER).
- Use the kernel xxhash instead of bundling it.
This automation gets tested every commit by upstream's continuous
integration. When we cut a new zstd release, we will submit a patch to
the kernel to update the zstd version in the kernel.
The automated process makes it easy to keep the kernel version of zstd
up to date. The current zstd in the kernel shares the guts of the
code, but has a lot of API and minor changes to work in the kernel.
This is because at the time upstream zstd was not ready to be used in
the kernel envrionment as-is. But, since then upstream zstd has
evolved to support being used in the kernel as-is.
Why are we updating in one big patch?
-------------------------------------
The 3rd patch in the series is very large. This is because it is
restructuring the code, so it both deletes the existing zstd, and
re-adds the new structure. Future updates will be directly
proportional to the changes in upstream zstd since the last import.
They will admittidly be large, as zstd is an actively developed
project, and has hundreds of commits between every release. However,
there is no other great alternative.
One option ruled out is to replay every upstream zstd commit. This is
not feasible for several reasons:
- There are over 3500 upstream commits since the zstd version in the
kernel.
- The automation to automatically generate the kernel update was only
added recently, so older commits cannot easily be imported.
- Not every upstream zstd commit builds.
- Only zstd releases are "supported", and individual commits may have
bugs that were fixed before a release.
Another option to reduce the patch size would be to first reorganize
to the new file structure, and then apply the patch. However, the
current kernel zstd is formatted with clang-format to be more
"kernel-like". But, the new method imports zstd as-is, without
additional formatting, to allow for closer correlation with upstream,
and easier debugging. So the patch wouldn't be any smaller.
It also doesn't make sense to import upstream zstd commit by commit
going forward. Upstream zstd doesn't support production use cases
running of the development branch. We have a lot of post-commit
fuzzing that catches many bugs, so indiviudal commits may be buggy,
but fixed before a release. So going forward, I intend to import every
(important) zstd release into the Kernel.
So, while it isn't ideal, updating in one big patch is the only patch
I see forward.
Who is responsible for this code?
---------------------------------
I am. This patchset adds me as the maintainer for zstd. Previously,
there was no tree for zstd patches. Because of that, there were
several patches that either got ignored, or took a long time to merge,
since it wasn't clear which tree should pick them up. I'm officially
stepping up as maintainer, and setting up my tree as the path through
which zstd patches get merged. I'll make sure that patches to the
kernel zstd get ported upstream, so they aren't erased when the next
version update happens.
How is this code tested?
------------------------
I tested every caller of zstd on x86_64 (BtrFS, ZRAM, SquashFS, F2FS,
Kernel, InitRAMFS). I also tested Kernel & InitRAMFS on i386 and
aarch64. I checked both performance and correctness.
Also, thanks to many people in the community who have tested these
patches locally.
Lastly, this code will bake in linux-next before being merged into
v5.16.
Why update to zstd-1.4.10 when zstd-1.5.0 has been released?
------------------------------------------------------------
This patchset has been outstanding since 2020, and zstd-1.4.10 was the
latest release when it was created. Since the update patch is
automatically generated from upstream, I could generate it from
zstd-1.5.0.
However, there were some large stack usage regressions in zstd-1.5.0,
and are only fixed in the latest development branch. And the latest
development branch contains some new code that needs to bake in the
fuzzer before I would feel comfortable releasing to the kernel.
Once this patchset has been merged, and we've released zstd-1.5.1, we
can update the kernel to zstd-1.5.1, and exercise the update process.
You may notice that zstd-1.4.10 doesn't exist upstream. This release

----------------------------
The first versions of this patchset migrated the kernel to the
upstream zstd API. It first added a shim API that supported the new
upstream API with the old code, then updated callers to use the new
shim API, then transitioned to the new code and deleted the shim API.
However, Cristoph Hellwig suggested that we transition to a kernel

- Updates modified zstd headers to yearless copyright
- Adds a new API in `include/linux/zstd.h` that is functionally
equivalent to the in-use subset of the current API. Functions are
renamed to avoid symbol collisions with zstd, to make it clear it is
not the upstream zstd API, and to follow the kernel style guide.
- Updates all callers to use the new API.
There are no functional changes in this patch. Since there are no

"fragment:segment": f2fs allocates a new segment in ramdom position.
With this, we can simulate the after-GC condition.
"fragment:block" : We can scatter block allocation with
"max_fragment_chunk" and "max_fragment_hole" sysfs

In this cycle, we've addressed some performance issues such as lock contention,
misbehaving compress_cache, allowing extent_cache for compressed files, and new
sysfs to adjust ra_size for fadvise. In order to diagnose the performance issues
quickly, we also added an iostat which shows the IO latencies periodically. On
the stability side, we've found two memory leakage cases in the error path in
compression flow. And, we've also fixed various corner cases in fiemap, quota,
checkpoint=disable, zstd, and so on.
Enhancement:
- avoid long checkpoint latency by releasing nat_tree_lock
- collect and show iostats periodically
- support extent_cache for compressed files
- add a sysfs entry to manage ra_size given fadvise(POSIX_FADV_SEQUENTIAL)
- report f2fs GC status via sysfs
- add discard_unit=%s in mount option to handle zoned device
Bug fix:
- fix two memory leakages when an error happens in the compressed IO flow
- fix commpress_cache to get the right LBA
- fix fiemap to deal with compressed case correctly
- fix wrong EIO returns due to SBI_NEED_FSCK
- fix missing writes when enabling checkpoint back
- fix quota deadlock
- fix zstd level mount option
In addition to the above major updates, we've cleaned up several code paths such
as dio, unnecessary operations, debugfs/f2fs/status, sanity check, and typos.

Whenever we notice some sluggish issues on our machines, we are always
curious about how well all types of I/O in the f2fs filesystem are
handled. But, it's hard to get this kind of real data. First of all,
we need to reproduce the issue while turning on the profiling tool like
blktrace, but the issue doesn't happen again easily. Second, with the
intervention of any tools, the overall timing of the issue will be
slightly changed and it sometimes makes us hard to figure it out.
So, I added the feature printing out IO latency statistics tracepoint
events, which are minimal things to understand filesystem's I/O related
behaviors, into F2FS_IOSTAT kernel config. With "iostat_enable" sysfs
node on, we can get this statistics info in a periodic way and it
would cause the least overhead.

Created some F2FS on SMR devices (mkfs.f2fs -m), then mounted in sequence. Each device is the same Model: HGST HSH721414AL (Size 14TB).
Empirically, found that when the amount of SMR device * 1.5Gb > System RAM, the system ran out of memory and hung. No dmesg output. For example, 24 SMR Disk need 24*1.5GB = 36GB. A system with 32G RAM can only mount 21 devices, the 22nd device will be a reproducible cause of system hang.
The number of SMR devices with other FS mounted on this system does not interfere with the result above.

The root cause is, there are three bitmaps:
- cur_valid_map
- ckpt_valid_map
- discard_map
and each of them will cost ~500MB memory, {cur, ckpt}_valid_map are
necessary, but discard_map is optional, since this bitmap will only be
useful in mountpoint that small discard is enabled.
For a blkzoned device such as SMR or ZNS devices, f2fs will only issue
discard for a section(zone) when all blocks of that section are invalid,
so, for such device, we don't need small discard functionality at all.
This patch introduces a new mountoption "discard_unit=block|segment|
section" to support issuing discard with different basic unit which is
aligned to block, segment or section, so that user can specify
"discard_unit=segment" or "discard_unit=section" to disable small
discard functionality.
Note that this mount option can not be changed by remount() due to
related metadata need to be initialized during mount().
In order to save memory, let's use "discard_unit=section" for blkzoned
device by default.

a kernel thread dealing with the f2fs checkpoints. Once we start to manage the

a lower priority under the process context. Since the checkpoint holds all the
filesystem operations, we give a higher priority to the checkpoint thread all

We've added a new mount options, "checkpoint_merge" and "nocheckpoint_merge",
which creates a kernel daemon and makes it to merge concurrent checkpoint
requests as much as possible to eliminate redundant checkpoint issues. Plus,
we can eliminate the sluggish issue caused by slow checkpoint operation
when the checkpoint is done in a process context in a cgroup having
low i/o budget and cpu shares. To make this do better, we set the
default i/o priority of the kernel daemon to "3", to give one higher
priority than other kernel threads. The below verification result
explains this.
The basic idea has come from https://opensource.samsung.com.
[Verification]
Android Pixel Device(ARM64, 7GB RAM, 256GB UFS)
Create two I/O cgroups (fg w/ weight 100, bg w/ wight 20)
Set "strict_guarantees" to "1" in BFQ tunables
In "fg" cgroup,
- thread A => trigger 1000 checkpoint operations
"for i in `seq 1 1000`; do touch test_dir1/file; fsync test_dir1;
done"
- thread B => gererating async. I/O
"fio --rw=write --numjobs=1 --bs=128k --runtime=3600 --time_based=1
--filename=test_img --name=test"
In "bg" cgroup,
- thread C => trigger repeated checkpoint operations
"echo $$ > /dev/blkio/bg/tasks; while true; do touch test_dir2/file;
fsync test_dir2; done"
We've measured thread A's execution time.

Expand f2fs's casefolding support to include encrypted directories. To
index casefolded+encrypted directories, we use the SipHash of the
casefolded name, keyed by a key derived from the directory's fscrypt
master key. This ensures that the dirhash doesn't leak information
about the plaintext filenames.
Encryption keys are unavailable during roll-forward recovery, so we
can't compute the dirhash when recovering a new dentry in an encrypted +
casefolded directory. To avoid having to force a checkpoint when a new
file is fsync'ed, store the dirhash on-disk appended to i_name.

operations while still setting fscrypt's d_revalidate as appropriate.
Most filesystems can just use generic_set_encrypted_ci_d_ops, unless
they have their own specific dentry operations as well. That operation
will set the minimal d_ops required under the circumstances.
Since the fscrypt d_ops are set later on, we must set all d_ops there,

fscrypt_set_test_dummy_encryption() requires that the optional argument
to the test_dummy_encryption mount option be specified as a substring_t.
That doesn't work well with filesystems that use the new mount API,
since the new way of parsing mount options doesn't use substring_t.
Make it take the argument as a 'const char *' instead.
Instead of moving the match_strdup() into the callers in ext4 and f2fs,
make them just use arg->from directly. Since the pattern is
"test_dummy_encryption=%s", the argument will be null-terminated.

The behavior of the test_dummy_encryption mount option is that when a
new file (or directory or symlink) is created in an unencrypted
directory, it's automatically encrypted using a dummy encryption policy.
That's it; in particular, the encryption (or lack thereof) of existing
files (or directories or symlinks) doesn't change.
Unfortunately the implementation of test_dummy_encryption is a bit weird
and confusing. When test_dummy_encryption is enabled and a file is
being created in an unencrypted directory, we set up an encryption key
(->i_crypt_info) for the directory. This isn't actually used to do any
encryption, however, since the directory is still unencrypted! Instead,
->i_crypt_info is only used for inheriting the encryption policy.
One consequence of this is that the filesystem ends up providing a
"dummy context" (policy + nonce) instead of a "dummy policy". In
commit ed318a6cc0 ("fscrypt: support test_dummy_encryption=v2"), I
mistakenly thought this was required. However, actually the nonce only
ends up being used to derive a key that is never used.
Another consequence of this implementation is that it allows for
'inode->i_crypt_info != NULL && !IS_ENCRYPTED(inode)', which is an edge
case that can be forgotten about. For example, currently
FS_IOC_GET_ENCRYPTION_POLICY on an unencrypted directory may return the
dummy encryption policy when the filesystem is mounted with
test_dummy_encryption. That seems like the wrong thing to do, since
again, the directory itself is not actually encrypted.
Therefore, switch to a more logical and maintainable implementation
where the dummy encryption policy inheritance is done without setting up
keys for unencrypted directories. This involves:
- Adding a function fscrypt_policy_to_inherit() which returns the
encryption policy to inherit from a directory. This can be a real
policy, a dummy policy, or no policy.
- Replacing struct fscrypt_dummy_context, ->get_dummy_context(), etc.
with struct fscrypt_dummy_policy, ->get_dummy_policy(), etc.
- Making fscrypt_fname_encrypted_size() take an fscrypt_policy instead
of an inode.

writepages() can be concurrently invoked for the same file by different
threads such as a thread fsyncing the file and a kworker kernel thread.
So, changing i_compr_blocks without protection is racy and we need to
protect it by changing it with atomic type value. Plus, we don't need
a 64bit value for i_compr_blocks, so just we will use a atomic value,

There are several issues in current background GC algorithm:
- valid blocks is one of key factors during cost overhead calculation,
so if segment has less valid block, however even its age is young or
it locates hot segment, CB algorithm will still choose the segment as
victim, it's not appropriate.
- GCed data/node will go to existing logs, no matter in-there datas'
update frequency is the same or not, it may mix hot and cold data
again.
- GC alloctor mainly use LFS type segment, it will cost free segment
more quickly.
This patch introduces a new algorithm named age threshold based
garbage collection to solve above issues, there are three steps
mainly:
1. select a source victim:
- set an age threshold, and select candidates beased threshold:
e.g.
0 means youngest, 100 means oldest, if we set age threshold to 80
then select dirty segments which has age in range of [80, 100] as
candiddates;
- set candidate_ratio threshold, and select candidates based the
ratio, so that we can shrink candidates to those oldest segments;
- select target segment with fewest valid blocks in order to
migrate blocks with minimum cost;
2. select a target victim:
- select candidates beased age threshold;
- set candidate_radius threshold, search candidates whose age is
around source victims, searching radius should less than the
radius threshold.
- select target segment with most valid blocks in order to avoid
migrating current target segment.
3. merge valid blocks from source victim into target victim with
SSR alloctor.
Test steps:
- create 160 dirty segments:
* half of them have 128 valid blocks per segment
* left of them have 384 valid blocks per segment
- run background GC
Benefit: GC count and block movement count both decrease obviously:

Previous implementation of aligned pinfile allocation will:
- allocate new segment on cold data log no matter whether last used
segment is partially used or not, it makes IOs more random;
- force concurrent cold data/GCed IO going into warm data area, it
can make a bad effect on hot/cold data separation;
In this patch, we introduce a new type of log named 'inmem curseg',
the differents from normal curseg is:
- it reuses existed segment type (CURSEG_XXX_NODE/DATA);
- it only exists in memory, its segno, blkofs, summary will not b
persisted into checkpoint area;
With this new feature, we can enhance scalability of log, special
allocators can be created for purposes:
- pure lfs allocator for aligned pinfile allocation or file
defragmentation
- pure ssr allocator for later feature
So that, let's update aligned pinfile allocation to use this new
inmem curseg fwk.

NVMe Zoned Namespace devices can have zone-capacity less than zone-size.
Zone-capacity indicates the maximum number of sectors that are usable in
a zone beginning from the first sector of the zone. This makes the sectors
sectors after the zone-capacity till zone-size to be unusable.
This patch set tracks zone-size and zone-capacity in zoned devices and
calculate the usable blocks per segment and usable segments per section.
If zone-capacity is less than zone-size mark only those segments which
start before zone-capacity as free segments. All segments at and beyond
zone-capacity are treated as permanently used segments. In cases where
zone-capacity does not align with segment size the last segment will start
before zone-capacity and end beyond the zone-capacity of the zone. For
such spanning segments only sectors within the zone-capacity are used.
During writes and GC manage the usable segments in a section and usable
blocks per segment. Segments which are beyond zone-capacity are never
allocated, and do not need to be garbage collected, only the segments
which are before zone-capacity needs to garbage collected.
For spanning segments based on the number of usable blocks in that
segment, write to blocks only up to zone-capacity.
Zone-capacity is device specific and cannot be configured by the user.
Since NVMe ZNS device zones are sequentially write only, a block device
with conventional zones or any normal block device is needed along with
the ZNS device for the metadata operations of F2fs.
A typical nvme-cli output of a zoned device shows zone start and capacity
and write pointer as below:
SLBA: 0x0 WP: 0x0 Cap: 0x18800 State: EMPTY Type: SEQWRITE_REQ
SLBA: 0x20000 WP: 0x20000 Cap: 0x18800 State: EMPTY Type: SEQWRITE_REQ
SLBA: 0x40000 WP: 0x40000 Cap: 0x18800 State: EMPTY Type: SEQWRITE_REQ
Here zone size is 64MB, capacity is 49MB, WP is at zone start as the zones
are in EMPTY state. For each zone, only zone start + 49MB is usable area,
any lba/sector after 49MB cannot be read or written to, the drive will fail
any attempts to read/write. So, the second zone starts at 64MB and is
usable till 113MB (64 + 49) and the range between 113 and 128MB is
again unusable. The next zone starts at 128MB, and so on.

In this round, we've added some knobs to enhance compression feature and harden
testing environment. In addition, we've fixed several bugs reported from Android
devices such as long discarding latency, device hanging during quota_sync, etc.
Enhancement:
- support lzo-rle algorithm
- add two ioctls to release and reserve blocks for compression
- support partial truncation/fiemap on compressed file
- introduce sysfs entries to attach IO flags explicitly
- add iostat trace point along with read io stat
Bug fix:
- fix long discard latency
- flush quota data by f2fs_quota_sync correctly
- fix to recover parent inode number for power-cut recovery
- fix lz4/zstd output buffer budget
- parse checkpoint mount option correctly
- avoid inifinite loop to wait for flushing node/meta pages
- manage discard space correctly
And some refactoring and clean up patches were added.

kmalloc() returns kmalloc'ed memory, and kvmalloc() returns either
kmalloc'ed or vmalloc'ed memory. But the f2fs wrappers, f2fs_kmalloc()
and f2fs_kvmalloc(), both return both kinds of memory.
It's redundant to have two functions that do the same thing, and also
breaking the standard naming convention is causing bugs since people
assume it's safe to kfree() memory allocated by f2fs_kmalloc(). See
e.g. the various allocations in fs/f2fs/compress.c.
Fix this by making f2fs_kmalloc() just use kmalloc(). And to avoid
re-introducing the allocation failures that the vmalloc fallback was
intended to fix, convert the largest allocations to use f2fs_kvmalloc().

v1 encryption policies are deprecated in favor of v2, and some new
features (e.g. encryption+casefolding) are only being added for v2.
Therefore, the "test_dummy_encryption" mount option (which is used for
encryption I/O testing with xfstests) needs to support v2 policies.
To do this, extend its syntax to be "test_dummy_encryption=v1" or
"test_dummy_encryption=v2". The existing "test_dummy_encryption" (no
argument) also continues to be accepted, to specify the default setting
-- currently v1, but the next patch changes it to v2.
To cleanly support both v1 and v2 while also making it easy to support
specifying other encryption settings in the future (say, accepting
"$contents_mode:$filenames_mode:v2"), make ext4 and f2fs maintain a
pointer to the dummy fscrypt_context rather than using mount flags.
To avoid concurrency issues, don't allow test_dummy_encryption to be set
or changed during a remount. (The former restriction is new, but
xfstests doesn't run into it, so no one should notice.)
Tested with 'gce-xfstests -c {ext4,f2fs}/encrypt -g auto'. On ext4,
there are two regressions, both of which are test bugs: ext4/023 and
ext4/028 fail because they set an xattr and expect it to be stored
inline, but the increase in size of the fscrypt_context from
24 to 40 bytes causes this xattr to be spilled into an external block.

If compression feature is on, in scenario of no enough free memory,
page refault ratio is higher than before, the root cause is:
- {,de}compression flow needs to allocate intermediate pages to store
compressed data in cluster, so during their allocation, vm may reclaim
mmaped pages.
- if above reclaimed pages belong to compressed cluster, during its
refault, it may cause more intermediate pages allocation, result in
reclaiming more mmaped pages.
So this patch introduces a mempool for intermediate page allocation,
in order to avoid high refault ratio, by default, number of
preallocated page in pool is 512, user can change the number by
assigning 'num_compress_pages' parameter during module initialization.

As Geert Uytterhoeven reported:
for parameter HZ/50 in congestion_wait(BLK_RW_ASYNC, HZ/50);
On some platforms, HZ can be less than 50, then unexpected 0 timeout
jiffies will be set in congestion_wait().
This patch introduces a macro DEFAULT_IO_TIMEOUT to wrap a determinate
value with msecs_to_jiffies(20) to instead HZ/50 to avoid such issue.
Quoted from Geert Uytterhoeven:
"A timeout of HZ means 1 second.
HZ/50 means 20 ms, but has the risk of being zero, if HZ < 50.
If you want to use a timeout of 20 ms, you best use msecs_to_jiffies(20),
as that takes care of the special cases, and never returns 0."

This patch tries to support compression in f2fs.
- New term named cluster is defined as basic unit of compression, file can
be divided into multiple clusters logically. One cluster includes 4 << n
(n >= 0) logical pages, compression size is also cluster size, each of
cluster can be compressed or not.
- In cluster metadata layout, one special flag is used to indicate cluster
is compressed one or normal one, for compressed cluster, following metadata
maps cluster to [1, 4 << n - 1] physical blocks, in where f2fs stores
data including compress header and compressed data.
- In order to eliminate write amplification during overwrite, F2FS only
support compression on write-once file, data can be compressed only when
all logical blocks in file are valid and cluster compress ratio is lower
than specified threshold.
- To enable compression on regular inode, there are three ways:
* chattr +c file
* chattr +c dir; touch dir/file
* mount w/ -o compress_extension=ext; touch file.ext
Compress metadata layout:

To catch f2fs bugs in write pointer handling code for zoned block
devices, check write pointers of non-open zones that current segments do
not point to. Do this check at mount time, after the fsync data recovery
and current segments' write pointer consistency fix. Or when fsync data
recovery is disabled by mount option, do the check when there is no fsync
data.
Check two items comparing write pointers with valid block maps in SIT.
The first item is check for zones with no valid blocks. When there is no
valid blocks in a zone, the write pointer should be at the start of the
zone. If not, next write operation to the zone will cause unaligned write
error. If write pointer is not at the zone start, reset the write pointer
to place at the zone start.
The second item is check between the write pointer position and the last
valid block in the zone. It is unexpected that the last valid block
position is beyond the write pointer. In such a case, report as a bug.
Fix is not required for such zone, because the zone is not selected for
next write operation until the zone get discarded.

Please consider pulling fs-verity for 5.4.
fs-verity is a filesystem feature that provides Merkle tree based
hashing (similar to dm-verity) for individual readonly files, mainly for
the purpose of efficient authenticity verification.
This pull request includes:
(a) The fs/verity/ support layer and documentation.
(b) fs-verity support for ext4 and f2fs.
Compared to the original fs-verity patchset from last year, the UAPI to
enable fs-verity on a file has been greatly simplified. Lots of other
things were cleaned up too.
fs-verity is planned to be used by two different projects on Android;
most of the userspace code is in place already. Another userspace tool
("fsverity-utils"), and xfstests, are also available. e2fsprogs and
f2fs-tools already have fs-verity support. Other people have shown
interest in using fs-verity too.
I've tested this on ext4 and f2fs with xfstests, both the existing tests
and the new fs-verity tests. This has also been in linux-next since
July 30 with no reported issues except a couple minor ones I found
myself and folded in fixes for.
Ted and I will be co-maintaining fs-verity.

Modeled after commit b886ee3e77 ("ext4: Support case-insensitive file
name lookups")
"""
This patch implements the actual support for case-insensitive file name
lookups in f2fs, based on the feature bit and the encoding stored in the
superblock.
A filesystem that has the casefold feature set is able to configure
directories with the +F (F2FS_CASEFOLD_FL) attribute, enabling lookups
to succeed in that directory in a case-insensitive fashion, i.e: match
a directory entry even if the name used by userspace is not a byte per
byte match with the disk name, but is an equivalent case-insensitive
version of the Unicode string. This operation is called a
case-insensitive file name lookup.
The feature is configured as an inode attribute applied to directories
and inherited by its children. This attribute can only be enabled on
empty directories for filesystems that support the encoding feature,
thus preventing collision of file names that only differ by case.
* dcache handling:
For a +F directory, F2Fs only stores the first equivalent name dentry
used in the dcache. This is done to prevent unintentional duplication of
dentries in the dcache, while also allowing the VFS code to quickly find
the right entry in the cache despite which equivalent string was used in
a previous lookup, without having to resort to ->lookup().
d_hash() of casefolded directories is implemented as the hash of the
casefolded string, such that we always have a well-known bucket for all
the equivalencies of the same string. d_compare() uses the
utf8_strncasecmp() infrastructure, which handles the comparison of
equivalent, same case, names as well.
For now, negative lookups are not inserted in the dcache, since they
would need to be invalidated anyway, because we can't trust missing file
dentries. This is bad for performance but requires some leveraging of
the vfs layer to fix. We can live without that for now, and so does
everyone else.
* on-disk data:
Despite using a specific version of the name as the internal
representation within the dcache, the name stored and fetched from the
disk is a byte-per-byte match with what the user requested, making this
implementation 'name-preserving'. i.e. no actual information is lost
when writing to storage.
DX is supported by modifying the hashes used in +F directories to make
them case/encoding-aware. The new disk hashes are calculated as the
hash of the full casefolded string, instead of the string directly.
This allows us to efficiently search for file names in the htree without
requiring the user to provide an exact name.
* Dealing with invalid sequences:
By default, when a invalid UTF-8 sequence is identified, ext4 will treat
it as an opaque byte sequence, ignoring the encoding and reverting to
the old behavior for that unique file. This means that case-insensitive
file name lookup will not work only for that file. An optional bit can
be set in the superblock telling the filesystem code and userspace tools
to enforce the encoding. When that optional bit is set, any attempt to
create a file name using an invalid UTF-8 sequence will fail and return
an error to userspace.
* Normalization algorithm:
The UTF-8 algorithms used to compare strings in f2fs is implemented
in fs/unicode, and is based on a previous version developed by
SGI. It implements the Canonical decomposition (NFD) algorithm
described by the Unicode specification 12.1, or higher, combined with
the elimination of ignorable code points (NFDi) and full
case-folding (CF) as documented in fs/unicode/utf8_norm.c.
NFD seems to be the best normalization method for F2FS because:
- It has a lower cost than NFC/NFKC (which requires
decomposing to NFD as an intermediary step)
- It doesn't eliminate important semantic meaning like
compatibility decompositions.
Although:
- This implementation is not completely linguistic accurate, because
different languages have conflicting rules, which would require the
specialization of the filesystem to a given locale, which brings all
sorts of problems for removable media and for users who use more than
one language.

Add charset encoding to f2fs to support casefolding. It is modeled after
the same feature introduced in commit c83ad55eaa ("ext4: include charset
encoding information in the superblock")
Currently this is not compatible with encryption, similar to the current
ext4 imlpementation. This will change in the future.
>From the ext4 patch:
"""
The s_encoding field stores a magic number indicating the encoding
format and version used globally by file and directory names in the
filesystem. The s_encoding_flags defines policies for using the charset
encoding, like how to handle invalid sequences. The magic number is
mapped to the exact charset table, but the mapping is specific to ext4.
Since we don't have any commitment to support old encodings, the only
encoding I am supporting right now is utf8-12.1.0.
The current implementation prevents the user from enabling encoding and
per-directory encryption on the same filesystem at the same time. The
incompatibility between these features lies in how we do efficient
directory searches when we cannot be sure the encryption of the user
provided fname will match the actual hash stored in the disk without
decrypting every directory entry, because of normalization cases. My
quickest solution is to simply block the concurrent use of these
features for now, and enable it later, once we have a better solution.

With quota_ino feature on, generic/232 reports an inconsistence issue
on the image.
The root cause is that the testcase tries to:
- use quotactl to shutdown journalled quota based on sysfile;
- and then use quotactl to enable/turn on quota based on specific file
(aquota.user or aquota.group).
Eventually, quota sysfile will be out-of-update due to following specific
file creation.
Change as below to fix this issue:
- deny enabling quota based on specific file if quota sysfile exists.
- set SBI_QUOTA_NEED_REPAIR once sysfile based quota shutdowns via
ioctl.

f2fs_write_end_io():
f2fs_bug_on(sbi, page->mapping == NODE_MAPPING(sbi) &&

The reason is if disable_checkpoint mount option is on, meta dirty

meta_inode, however node_inode has been iput()ed before
meta_inode's iput().
Since checkpoint is disabled, all meta/node datas are useless and

Add fs-verity support to f2fs. fs-verity is a filesystem feature that
enables transparent integrity protection and authentication of read-only
files. It uses a dm-verity like mechanism at the file level: a Merkle
tree is used to verify any block in the file in log(filesize) time. It
is implemented mainly by helper functions in fs/verity/. See
Documentation/filesystems/fsverity.rst for the full documentation.
The f2fs support for fs-verity consists of:
- Adding a filesystem feature flag and an inode flag for fs-verity.
- Implementing the fsverity_operations to support enabling verity on an
inode and reading/writing the verity metadata.
- Updating ->readpages() to verify data as it's read from verity files
and to support reading verity metadata pages.
- Updating ->write_begin(), ->write_end(), and ->writepages() to support
writing verity metadata pages.
- Calling the fs-verity hooks for ->open(), ->setattr(), and ->ioctl().
Like ext4, f2fs stores the verity metadata (Merkle tree and
fsverity_descriptor) past the end of the file, starting at the first 64K
boundary beyond i_size. This approach works because (a) verity files
are readonly, and (b) pages fully beyond i_size aren't visible to
userspace but can be read/written internally by f2fs with only some
relatively small changes to f2fs. Extended attributes cannot be used
because (a) f2fs limits the total size of an inode's xattr entries to
4096 bytes, which wouldn't be enough for even a single Merkle tree
block, and (b) f2fs encryption doesn't encrypt xattrs, yet the verity
metadata *must* be encrypted when the file is because it contains hashes
of the plaintext data.

The kernel mount_block_root() function expects -EACESS or -EINVAL for a
unmountable filesystem when trying to mount the root with different
filesystem types.
However, in 5.3-rc1 the behavior when F2FS code cannot find valid block
changed to return -EFSCORRUPTED(-EUCLEAN), and this error code makes
mount_block_root() fail when trying to probe F2FS.
When the magic number of the superblock mismatches, it has a high
probability that it's just not a F2FS. In this case return -EINVAL seems
to be a better result, and this return value can make mount_block_root()
probing work again.
Return -EINVAL when the superblock has magic mismatch, -EFSCORRUPTED in
other cases (the magic matches but the superblock cannot be recognized).

This ioctl shrinks a given length (aligned to sections) from end of the
main area. Any cursegs and valid blocks will be moved out before
invalidating the range.
This feature can be used for adjusting partition sizes online.
History of the patch:
Sahitya Tummala:
- Add this ioctl for f2fs_compat_ioctl() as well.
- Fix debugfs status to reflect the online resize changes.
- Fix potential race between online resize path and allocate new data
block path or gc path.
Others:
- Rename some identifiers.
- Add some error handling branches.
- Clear sbi->next_victim_seg[BG_GC/FG_GC] in shrinking range.
- Implement this interface as ext4's, and change the parameter from shrunk
bytes to new block count of F2FS.
- During resizing, force to empty sit_journal and forbid adding new
entries to it, in order to avoid invalid segno in journal after resize.
- Reduce sbi->user_block_count before resize starts.
- Commit the updated superblock first, and then update in-memory metadata
only when the former succeeds.
- Target block count must align to sections.
- Write checkpoint before and after committing the new superblock, w/o
CP_FSCK_FLAG respectively, so that the FS can be fixed by fsck even if
resize fails after the new superblock is committed.
- In free_segment_range(), reduce granularity of gc_mutex.
- Add protection on curseg migration.
- Add freeze_bdev() and thaw_bdev() for resize fs.
- Remove CUR_MAIN_SECS and use MAIN_SECS directly for allocation.
- Recover super_block and FS metadata when resize fails.
- No need to clear CP_FSCK_FLAG in update_ckpt_flags().
- Clean up the sb and fs metadata update functions for resize_fs.

This extends the checkpoint option to allow checkpoint=disable:%u[%]
This allows you to specify what how much of the disk you are willing
to lose access to while mounting with checkpoint=disable. If the amount
lost would be higher, the mount will return -EAGAIN. This can be given
as a percent of total space, or in blocks.
Currently, we need to run garbage collection until the amount of holes
is smaller than the OVP space. With the new option, f2fs can mark
space as unusable up front instead of requiring garbage collection until

After fixing the image, I used my 4.19 kernel with 5.2-rc1-4.19

But, I got this:

I'm not exactly sure why the kernel detected that I'm still using the
old layout on the first boot. Maybe fsck didn't fix it properly, or
the check from the kernel is improper.
"
Although we have rebuild the old deprecated checkpoint with new layout
during repair, we only repair last checkpoint park, the other old one is
remained.
Once the image was mounted, we will 1) sanity check layout and 2) decide
which checkpoint park to use according to cp_ver. So that we will print
reported message unnecessarily at step 1), to avoid it, we simply move

"Another round of various bug fixes came in. Damien improved SMR drive
support a bit, and Chao replaced BUG_ON() with reporting errors to
user since we've not hit from users but did hit from crafted images.
We've found a disk layout bug in large_nat_bits feature which supports
very large NAT entries enabled at mkfs. If the feature is enabled, it
will give a notice to run fsck to correct the on-disk layout.
Enhancements:
- reduce memory consumption for SMR drive
- better discard handling for multiple partitions
- tracepoints for f2fs_file_write_iter/f2fs_filemap_fault
- allow to change CP_CHKSUM_OFFSET
- detect wrong layout of large_nat_bitmap feature
- enhance checking valid data indices
Bug fixes:
- Multiple partition support for SMR drive
- deadlock problem in f2fs_balance_fs_bg
- add boundary checks to fix abnormal behaviors on fuzzed images
- inline_xattr space calculations
- replace f2fs_bug_on with errors
In addition, this series contains various memory boundary check and
sanity check of on-disk consistency"

fscrypt: remove WARN_ON_ONCE() when decryption fails
fscrypt: drop inode argument from fscrypt_get_ctx()
Path lookups that traverse encrypted symlink(s) are very slow because
each encrypted symlink needs to be decrypted each time it's followed.
This also involves dropping out of rcu-walk mode.
Make encrypted symlinks faster by caching the decrypted symlink target
in ->i_link. The first call to fscrypt_get_symlink() sets it. Then,
the existing VFS path lookup code uses the non-NULL ->i_link to take the
fast path where ->get_link() isn't called, and lookups in rcu-walk mode
remain in rcu-walk mode.
Also set ->i_link immediately when a new encrypted symlink is created.
To safely free the symlink target after an RCU grace period has elapsed,
introduce a new function fscrypt_free_inode(), and make the relevant
filesystems call it just before actually freeing the inode.

For zoned block devices, an array of zone types for each device is
allocated and initialized in order to determine if a section is stored
on a sequential zone (zone reset needed) or a conventional zone (no
zone reset needed and regular discard applies). Considering this usage,
the zone types stored in memory can be replaced with a bitmap to
indicate an equivalent information, that is, if a zone is sequential or
not. This reduces the memory usage for each zoned device by roughly 8:
on a 14TB disk with zones of 256 MB, the zone type array consumes
13x4KB pages while the bitmap uses only 2x4KB pages.
This patch changes the f2fs_dev_info structure blkz_type field to the
bitmap blkz_seq. Access to this bitmap is done using the helper
function f2fs_blkz_is_seq(), which is a rewrite of the function
get_blkz_type().

We've continued mainly to fix bugs in this round, as f2fs has been shipped
in more devices. Especially, we've focused on stabilizing checkpoint=disable
feature, and provided some interfaces for QA.
Enhancement:
- expose FS_NOCOW_FL for pin_file
- run discard jobs at unmount time with timeout
- tune discarding thread to avoid idling which consumes power
- some checking codes to address vulnerabilities
- give random value to i_generation
- shutdown with more flags for QA
Bug fix:
- clean up stale objects when mount is failed along with checkpoint=disable
- fix system being stuck due to wrong count by atomic writes
- handle some corrupted disk cases
- fix a deadlock in f2fs_read_inline_dir
We've also added some minor build errors and clean-up patches.

We use below condition to check inline_xattr_size boundary:
if (!F2FS_OPTION(sbi).inline_xattr_size ||
F2FS_OPTION(sbi).inline_xattr_size >=
DEF_ADDRS_PER_INODE -
F2FS_TOTAL_EXTRA_ATTR_SIZE -
DEF_INLINE_RESERVED_SIZE -
DEF_MIN_INLINE_SIZE)
There is there problems in that check:
- we should allow inline_xattr_size equaling to min size of inline
{data,dentry} area.
- F2FS_TOTAL_EXTRA_ATTR_SIZE and inline_xattr_size are based on
different size unit, previous one is 4 bytes, latter one is 1 bytes.
- DEF_MIN_INLINE_SIZE only indicate min size of inline data area,
however, we need to consider min size of inline dentry area as well,
minimal inline dentry should at least contain two entries: '.' and
'..', so that min inline_dentry size is 40 bytes.
.bitmap 1 * 1 = 1
.reserved 1 * 1 = 1
