00b808ab79 atomics/generic: Define atomic64_fetch_add_unless()
As a step towards unifying the atomic/atomic64/atomic_long APIs, this
patch converts the generic implementation of atomic64_add_unless() into
a generic implementation of atomic64_fetch_add_unless().

A wrapper in <linux/atomic.h> will build atomic_add_unless() atop of
this, provided it is given a preprocessor definition.

No functional change is intended as a result of this patch.

ade5ef9280 atomics: Make conditional ops return 'bool'
Some of the atomics return a status value, which is a boolean value
describing whether the operation was performed. To make it clear that
this is a boolean value, let's update the common fallbacks to return
bool, fixing up the return values and comments likewise.

At the same time, let's simplify the description of the operations in
their respective comments.

The instrumented atomics and generic atomic64 implementation are updated
accordingly.

Note that atomic64_dec_if_positive() doesn't follow the usual test op
pattern, and returns the would-be decremented value. This is not
changed.

ee410f15b1 lib/test_printf.c: call wait_for_random_bytes() before plain %p tests
If the test_printf module is loaded before the crng is initialized, the
plain 'p' tests will fail because the printed address will not be hashed
and the buffer will contain '(ptrval)' instead.

This patch adds a call to wait_for_random_bytes() before plain 'p' tests
to make sure the crng is initialized.

cf65a0f6f6 dma-mapping: move all DMA mapping code to kernel/dma
Currently the code is split over various files with dma- prefixes in the
lib/ and drives/base directories, and the number of files keeps growing.
Move them into a single directory to keep the code together and remove
the file name prefixes. To match the irq infrastructure this directory
is placed under the kernel/ directory.

"The rest of the overflow changes for v4.18-rc1.

This includes the explicit overflow fixes from Silvio, further
struct_size() conversions from Matthew, and a bug fix from Dan.

But the bulk of it is the treewide conversions to use either the
  2-factor argument allocators (e.g. kmalloc(a * b, ...) into
  kmalloc_array(a, b, ...) or the array_size() macros (e.g. vmalloc(a *

fad953ce0b treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc()
The vzalloc() function has no 2-factor argument form, so multiplication
factors need to be wrapped in array_size(). This patch replaces cases of:

        vzalloc(a * b)

with:
        vzalloc(array_size(a, b))

as well as handling cases of:

        vzalloc(a * b * c)

with:

        vzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c))

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        vzalloc(4 * 1024)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

5aadfdeb8d kcov: test compiler capability in Kconfig and correct dependency
As Documentation/kbuild/kconfig-language.txt notes, 'select' should be
be used with care - it forces a lower limit of another symbol, ignoring
the dependency. Currently, KCOV can select GCC_PLUGINS even if arch
does not select HAVE_GCC_PLUGINS. This could cause the unmet direct
dependency.

Now that Kconfig can test compiler capability, let's handle this in a
more sophisticated way.

There are two ways to enable KCOV; use the compiler that natively
supports -fsanitize-coverage=trace-pc, or build the SANCOV plugin if
the compiler has ability to build GCC plugins. Hence, the correct
dependency for KCOV is:

  depends on CC_HAS_SANCOV_TRACE_PC || GCC_PLUGINS

You do not need to build the SANCOV plugin if the compiler already
supports -fsanitize-coverage=trace-pc. Hence, the select should be:

  select GCC_PLUGIN_SANCOV if !CC_HAS_SANCOV_TRACE_PC

With this, GCC_PLUGIN_SANCOV is selected only when necessary, so
scripts/Makefile.gcc-plugins can be cleaner.

I also cleaned up Kconfig and scripts/Makefile.kcov as well.

804209d8a0 lib/percpu_ida.c: use _irqsave() instead of local_irq_save() + spin_lock
percpu_ida() decouples disabling interrupts from the locking operations.
This breaks some assumptions if the locking operations are replaced like
they are under -RT.

The same locking can be achieved by avoiding local_irq_save() and using
spin_lock_irqsave() instead. percpu_ida_alloc() gains one more preemption
point because after unlocking the fastpath and before the pool lock is
acquired, the interrupts are briefly enabled.

b94078e695 lib/idr.c: remove simple_ida_lock
Improve the scalability of the IDA by using the per-IDA xa_lock rather
than the global simple_ida_lock. IDAs are not typically used in

can use it. It is also a step towards converting the IDA from the radix

ce91f6ee5b mm: kvmalloc does not fallback to vmalloc for incompatible gfp flags
kvmalloc warned about incompatible gfp_mask to catch abusers (mostly
GFP_NOFS) with an intention that this will motivate authors of the code
to fix those. Linus argues that this just motivates people to do even
more hacks like

	if (gfp == GFP_KERNEL)
		kvmalloc
	else
		kmalloc

I haven't seen this happening much (Linus pointed to bucket_lock special
cases an atomic allocation but my git foo hasn't found much more) but it
is true that we can grow those in future. Therefore Linus suggested to
simply not fallback to vmalloc for incompatible gfp flags and rather
stick with the kmalloc path.

Pull overflow updates from Kees Cook:
"This adds the new overflow checking helpers and adds them to the
2-factor argument allocators. And this adds the saturating size
helpers and does a treewide replacement for the struct_size() usage.
Additionally this adds the overflow testing modules to make sure
  everything works.

I'm still working on the treewide replacements for allocators with
  "simple" multiplied arguments:

     *alloc(a * b, ...) -> *alloc_array(a, b, ...)

  and

     *zalloc(a * b, ...) -> *calloc(a, b, ...)

as well as the more complex cases, but that's separable from this
portion of the series. I expect to have the rest sent before -rc1
closes; there are a lot of messy cases to clean up.

  Summary:

Geert Uytterhoeven
666902e42f lib/vsprintf: Remove atomic-unsafe support for %pCr
"%pCr" formats the current rate of a clock, and calls clk_get_rate().
The latter obtains a mutex, hence it must not be called from atomic
context.

Remove support for this rarely-used format, as vsprintf() (and e.g.
printk()) must be callable from any context.

Any remaining out-of-tree users will start seeing the clock's name
printed instead of its rate.

f068fe3170 core, dma-direct: add a flag 32-bit dma limits
Various PCI bridges (VIA PCI, Xilinx PCIe) limit DMA to only 32-bits
even if the device itself supports more. Add a single bit flag to
struct device (to be moved into the dma extension once we get to it)
to flag such devices and reject larger DMA to them.

7a4deea1aa idr: fix invalid ptr dereference on item delete
If the radix tree underlying the IDR happens to be full and we attempt
to remove an id which is larger than any id in the IDR, we will call
__radix_tree_delete() with an uninitialised 'slot' pointer, at which
point anything could happen. This was easiest to hit with a single
entry at id 0 and attempting to remove a non-0 id, but it could have
happened with 64 entries and attempting to remove an id >= 64.

Roman said:

The syzcaller test boils down to opening /dev/kvm, creating an
eventfd, and calling a couple of KVM ioctls. None of this requires
superuser. And the result is dereferencing an uninitialized pointer
which is likely a crash. The specific path caught by syzbot is via
KVM_HYPERV_EVENTD ioctl which is new in 4.17. But I guess there are
other user-triggerable paths, so cc:stable is probably justified.

Matthew added:

We have around 250 calls to idr_remove() in the kernel today. Many of
them pass an ID which is embedded in the object they're removing, so
they're safe. Picking a few likely candidates:

drivers/firewire/core-cdev.c looks unsafe; the ID comes from an ioctl.
  drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_ctx.c is similar
drivers/atm/nicstar.c could be taken down by a handcrafted packet

e6fc464987 blk-mq: avoid starving tag allocation after allocating process migrates
When the allocation process is scheduled back and the mapped hw queue is
changed, fake one extra wake up on previous queue for compensating wake
up miss, so other allocations on the previous queue won't be starved.

This patch fixes one request allocation hang issue, which can be
triggered easily in case of very low nr_request.

The race is as follows:

1) 2 hw queues, nr_requests are 2, and wake_batch is one

2) there are 3 waiters on hw queue 0

3) two in-flight requests in hw queue 0 are completed, and only two
waiters of 3 are waken up because of wake_batch, but both the two
waiters can be scheduled to another CPU and cause to switch to hw
   queue 1

4) then the 3rd waiter will wait for ever, since no in-flight request
is in hw queue 0 any more.

5) this patch fixes it by the fake wakeup when waiter is scheduled to
   another hw queue

78c47830a5 dma-debug: check scatterlist segments
Drivers/subsystems creating scatterlists for DMA should be taking care
to respect the scatter-gather limitations of the appropriate device, as
described by dma_parms. A DMA API implementation cannot feasibly split
a scatterlist into *more* entries than originally passed, so it is not
well defined what they should do when given a segment larger than the
limit they are also required to respect.

Conversely, devices which are less limited than the rather conservative
defaults, or indeed have no limitations at all (e.g. GPUs with their own
internal MMU), should be encouraged to set appropriate dma_parms, as
they may get more efficient DMA mapping performance out of it.

TLS data structures split the TX and RX components in 'net-next',
put the new struct members from the bug fix in 'net' into the RX

The 'net-next' tree had some reworking of how the ERSPAN code works in
the GRE tunneling code, overlapping with a one-line headroom
calculation fix in 'net'.

Add a new dma_map_ops implementation that uses dma-direct for the

Architectures have to provide flushing helpers to ownership trasnfers
to the device and/or CPU, and can provide optional implementations of
the coherent mmap functionality, and the cache_flush routines for
non-coherent long term allocations.
