usb: cdns3-plat: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. ARM: pxa: fix missing-prototypes warnings

leds: Change led_trigger_blink[_oneshot]() delay parameters to pass-by-value
led_blink_set[_oneshot]()'s delay_on and delay_off function parameters are pass by reference, so that hw-blink implementations can report back the actual achieved delays when the values have been rounded to something the hw supports. This is really only interesting for the sysfs API / the timer trigger. Other triggers don't really care about this and none of the callers of led_trigger_blink[_oneshot]() do anything with the returned delay values. Change the led_trigger_blink[_oneshot]() delay parameters to pass-by-value, there are 2 reasons for this: 1. led_cdev->blink_set() may sleep, while led_trigger_blink() may not. So on hw where led_cdev->blink_set() sleeps the call needs to be deferred to a workqueue, in which case the actual achieved delays are unknown (this is a preparation patch for the deferring). 2. Since the callers don't care about the actual achieved delays, allowing callers to directly pass a value leads to simpler code for most callers. ARM/musb: omap2: Remove global GPIO numbers from TUSB6010
The TUSB6010 (MUSB) device is picking up some GPIO lines hardcoded by number and passing on to the TUSB6010 device when registering it. Instead of nasty workarounds, provide a GPIO descriptor table and then make the TUSB6010 MUSB glue driver pick up the GPIO lines directly, convert it to an IRQ and pass down to the MUSB driver. OMAP2 is the only system using the TUSB6010. Stash the GPIO descriptors in the glue layer and use then to power up and down the TUSB6010 on-demand, instead of using boardfile callbacks. Since the OMAP2 boards are the only boards using the .set_power() and .board_set_power() callbacks, we can just delete them as the power is now handled directly in the TUSB6010 glue code. xhci: Fix incorrect tracking of free space on transfer rings
This incorrect tracking caused unnecessary ring expansion in some usecases which over days of use consume a lot of memory. xhci driver tries to keep track of free transfer blocks (TRBs) on the ring buffer, but failed to add back some cancelled transfers that were turned into no-op operations instead of just moving past them. This can happen if there are several queued pending transfers which then are cancelled in reverse order. Solve this by counting the numer of steps we move the dequeue pointer once we complete a transfer, and add it to the number of free trbs instead of just adding the trb number of the current transfer. This way we ensure we count the no-op trbs on the way as well. usb: typec: qcom: Add Qualcomm PMIC Type-C driver
This commit adds a QCOM PMIC TCPM driver with an initial pm8150b block. The driver is layered as follows: qcom_pmic_typec.c : Responsible for registering with TCPM and arbitrates access to the Type-C and PDPHY hardware blocks in one place. This presents a single TCPM device to device to the Linux TCPM layer. qcom_pmic_typec_pdphy.c: Responsible for interfacing with the PDPHY hardware and processing power-delivery related calls from TCPM. This hardware binding can be extended to facilitate similar hardware in different PMICs. qcom_pmic_typec_port.c: Responsible for notifying and processing Type-C related calls from TCPM. Similar to the pdphy this layer can be extended to handle the specifics of different Qualcomm PMIC Type-C port managers. This code provides all of the same functionality as the existing qcom typec driver plus power-delivery as well. As a result commit 6c8cf3695176 ("usb: typec: Add QCOM PMIC typec detection driver") can be deleted entirely. usb-storage: fix deadlock when a scsi command timeouts more than once
With faulty usb-storage devices, read/write can timeout, in that case the SCSI layer will abort and re-issue the command. USB storage has no internal timeout, it relies on SCSI layer aborting commands via .eh_abort_handler() for non those responsive devices. After two consecutive timeouts of the same command, SCSI layer calls .eh_device_reset_handler(), without calling .eh_abort_handler() first. With usb-storage, this causes a deadlock: -> .eh_device_reset_handler -> device_reset -> mutex_lock(&(us->dev_mutex)); mutex already by usb_stor_control_thread(), which is waiting for command completion: -> usb_stor_control_thread (mutex taken here) -> usb_stor_invoke_transport -> usb_stor_Bulk_transport -> usb_stor_bulk_srb -> usb_stor_bulk_transfer_sglist -> usb_sg_wait Make sure we cancel any pending command in .eh_device_reset_handler() to avoid this. usb: gadget: u_ether: Fix host MAC address case
The CDC-ECM specification [1] requires to send the host MAC address as an uppercase hexadecimal string in chapter "5.4 Ethernet Networking Functional Descriptor": The Unicode character is chosen from the set of values 30h through 39h and 41h through 46h (0-9 and A-F). However, snprintf(.., "%pm", ..) generates a lowercase MAC address string. While most host drivers are tolerant to this, UsbNcm.sys on Windows 10 is not. Instead it uses a different MAC address with all bytes set to zero including and after the first byte containing a lowercase letter. On Windows 11 Microsoft fixed it, but apparently they did not backport the fix. This change fixes the issue by upper-casing the MAC to comply with the specification. usb: xhci: plat: remove error log for failure to get usb-phy
Remove this log to avoid non-error conditions. If CONFIG_USB_PHY is disabled, the following error message appears: [ 0.231609] xhci-hcd f10f0000.usb3: xhci_plat_probe get usb3phy fail (ret=-6) [ 0.239716] xhci-hcd f10f8000.usb3: xhci_plat_probe get usb3phy fail (ret=-6) In this case, devm_usb_get_phy_by_phandle is declared static inline and returns -ENXIO. usb: dwc3: debugfs: Resume dwc3 before accessing registers
When the dwc3 device is runtime suspended, various required clocks are in disabled state and it is not guaranteed that access to any registers would work. Depending on the SoC glue, a register read could be as benign as returning 0 or be fatal enough to hang the system. xhci: Improve the XHCI system resume time
Avoid extra 120ms delay during system resume. The xHC controller may signal wake up to 120ms before showing which usb device caused the wake on the xHC port registers. The xhci driver therefore checks for port activity up to 120ms during resume, making sure that the hub driver can see the port change, and won't immediately runtime suspend back due to no port activity. This is however only needed for runtime resume as system resume will resume all child hubs and other child usb devices anyway. usb: dwc3: fix gadget mode suspend interrupt handler issue
When work in gadget mode, currently driver doesn't update software level link_state correctly as link state change event is not enabled for most devices, in function dwc3_gadget_suspend_interrupt(), it will only pass suspend event to UDC core when software level link state changes, so when interrupt generated in sequences of suspend -> reset -> conndone -> suspend, link state is not updated during reset and conndone, so second suspend interrupt event will not pass to UDC core. Driver core changes for 6.4-rc1
Here is the large set of driver core changes for 6.4-rc1. Once again, a busy development cycle, with lots of changes happening in the driver core in the quest to be able to move "struct bus" and "struct class" into read-only memory, a task now complete with these changes. This will make the future rust interactions with the driver core more "provably correct" as well as providing more obvious lifetime rules for all busses and classes in the kernel. The changes required for this did touch many individual classes and busses as many callbacks were changed to take const * parameters instead. All of these changes have been submitted to the various subsystem maintainers, giving them plenty of time to review, and most of them actually did so. Other than those changes, included in here are a small set of other things: - kobject logging improvements - cacheinfo improvements and updates - obligatory fw_devlink updates and fixes - documentation updates - device property cleanups and const * changes - firwmare loader dependency fixes. Networking changes for 6.4.
Core ---- - Introduce a config option to tweak MAX_SKB_FRAGS. Increasing the default value allows for better BIG TCP performances. - Reduce compound page head access for zero-copy data transfers. - RPS/RFS improvements, avoiding unneeded NET_RX_SOFTIRQ when possible. - Threaded NAPI improvements, adding defer skb free support and unneeded softirq avoidance. - Address dst_entry reference count scalability issues, via false sharing avoidance and optimize refcount tracking. - Add lockless accesses annotation to sk_err[_soft]. - Optimize again the skb struct layout. - Extends the skb drop reasons to make it usable by multiple subsystems. - Better const qualifier awareness for socket casts. BPF --- - Add skb and XDP typed dynptrs which allow BPF programs for more ergonomic and less brittle iteration through data and variable-sized accesses. - Add a new BPF netfilter program type and minimal support to hook BPF programs to netfilter hooks such as prerouting or forward. - Add more precise memory usage reporting for all BPF map types. - Adds support for using {FOU,GUE} encap with an ipip device operating in collect_md mode and add a set of BPF kfuncs for controlling encap params. - Allow BPF programs to detect at load time whether a particular kfunc exists or not, and also add support for this in light skeleton. - Bigger batch of BPF verifier improvements to prepare for upcoming BPF open-coded iterators allowing for less restrictive looping capabilities. - Rework RCU enforcement in the verifier, add kptr_rcu and enforce BPF programs to NULL-check before passing such pointers into kfunc. - Add support for kptrs in percpu hashmaps, percpu LRU hashmaps and in local storage maps. - Enable RCU semantics for task BPF kptrs and allow referenced kptr tasks to be stored in BPF maps. - Add support for refcounted local kptrs to the verifier for allowing shared ownership, useful for adding a node to both the BPF list and rbtree. - Add BPF verifier support for ST instructions in convert_ctx_access() which will help new -mcpu=v4 clang flag to start emitting them. - Add ARM32 USDT support to libbpf. - Improve bpftool's visual program dump which produces the control flow graph in a DOT format by adding C source inline annotations. Protocols --------- - IPv4: Allow adding to IPv4 address a 'protocol' tag. Such value indicates the provenance of the IP address. - IPv6: optimize route lookup, dropping unneeded R/W lock acquisition. - Add the handshake upcall mechanism, allowing the user-space to implement generic TLS handshake on kernel's behalf. - Bridge: support per-{Port, VLAN} neighbor suppression, increasing resilience to nodes failures. - SCTP: add support for Fair Capacity and Weighted Fair Queueing schedulers. - MPTCP: delay first subflow allocation up to its first usage. This will allow for later better LSM interaction. - xfrm: Remove inner/outer modes from input/output path. These are not needed anymore. - WiFi: - reduced neighbor report (RNR) handling for AP mode - HW timestamping support - support for randomized auth/deauth TA for PASN privacy - per-link debugfs for multi-link - TC offload support for mac80211 drivers - mac80211 mesh fast-xmit and fast-rx support - enable Wi-Fi 7 (EHT) mesh support Netfilter --------- - Add nf_tables 'brouting' support, to force a packet to be routed instead of being bridged. - Update bridge netfilter and ovs conntrack helpers to handle IPv6 Jumbo packets properly, i.e. fetch the packet length from hop-by-hop extension header. This is needed for BIT TCP support. - The iptables 32bit compat interface isn't compiled in by default anymore. - Move ip(6)tables builtin icmp matches to the udptcp one. This has the advantage that icmp/icmpv6 match doesn't load the iptables/ip6tables modules anymore when iptables-nft is used. - Extended netlink error report for netdevice in flowtables and netdev/chains. Allow for incrementally add/delete devices to netdev basechain. Allow to create netdev chain without device. Driver API ---------- - Remove redundant Device Control Error Reporting Enable, as PCI core has already error reporting enabled at enumeration time. - Move Multicast DB netlink handlers to core, allowing devices other then bridge to use them. - Allow the page_pool to directly recycle the pages from safely localized NAPI. - Implement lockless TX queue stop/wake combo macros, allowing for further code de-duplication and sanitization. - Add YNL support for user headers and struct attrs. - Add partial YNL specification for devlink. - Add partial YNL specification for ethtool. - Add tc-mqprio and tc-taprio support for preemptible traffic classes. - Add tx push buf len param to ethtool, specifies the maximum number of bytes of a transmitted packet a driver can push directly to the underlying device. - Add basic LED support for switch/phy. - Add NAPI documentation, stop relaying on external links. - Convert dsa_master_ioctl() to netdev notifier. This is a preparatory work to make the hardware timestamping layer selectable by user space. - Add transceiver support and improve the error messages for CAN-FD controllers. The problem was caused by the fact that the driver does not check whether the endpoints it uses are actually present and have the appropriate types. This can be fixed by adding a simple check of the endpoints. USB: core: Add routines for endpoint checks in old drivers
Many of the older USB drivers in the Linux USB stack were written based simply on a vendor's device specification. They use the endpoint information in the spec and assume these endpoints will always be present, with the properties listed, in any device matching the given vendor and product IDs. While that may have been true back then, with spoofing and fuzzing it is not true any more. More and more we are finding that those old drivers need to perform at least a minimum of checking before they try to use any endpoint other than ep0. To make this checking as simple as possible, we now add a couple of utility routines to the USB core. usb_check_bulk_endpoints() and usb_check_int_endpoints() take an interface pointer together with a list of endpoint addresses (numbers and directions). They check that the interface's current alternate setting includes endpoints with those addresses and that each of these endpoints has the right type: bulk or interrupt, respectively. Although we already have usb_find_common_endpoints() and related routines meant for a similar purpose, they are not well suited for this kind of checking. Those routines find endpoints of various kinds, but only one (either the first or the last) of each kind, and they don't verify that the endpoints' addresses agree with what the caller expects. In theory the new routines could be more general: They could take a particular altsetting as their argument instead of always using the interface's current altsetting. In practice I think this won't matter too much; multiple altsettings tend to be used for transferring media (audio or visual) over isochronous endpoints, not bulk or interrupt. Drivers for such devices will generally require more sophisticated checking than these simplistic routines provide. usb: dwc3: gadget: Stall and restart EP0 if host is unresponsive
It was observed that there are hosts that may complete pending SETUP transactions before the stop active transfers and controller halt occurs, leading to lingering endxfer commands on DEPs on subsequent pullup/gadget start iterations. dwc3_gadget_ep_disable name=ep8in flags=0x3009 direction=1 dwc3_gadget_ep_disable name=ep4in flags=1 direction=1 dwc3_gadget_ep_disable name=ep3out flags=1 direction=0 usb_gadget_disconnect deactivated=0 connected=0 ret=0 The sequence shows that the USB gadget disconnect (dwc3_gadget_pullup(0)) routine completed successfully, allowing for the USB gadget to proceed with a USB gadget connect. However, if this occurs the system runs into an issue where: BUG: spinlock already unlocked on CPU spin_bug+0x0 dwc3_remove_requests+0x278 dwc3_ep0_out_start+0xb0 __dwc3_gadget_start+0x25c This is due to the pending endxfers, leading to gadget start (w/o lock held) to execute the remove requests, which will unlock the dwc3 spinlock as part of giveback. To mitigate this, resolve the pending endxfers on the pullup disable path by re-locating the SETUP phase check after stop active transfers, since that is where the DWC3_EP_DELAY_STOP is potentially set. This also allows for handling of a host that may be unresponsive by using the completion timeout to trigger the stall and restart for EP0. usb: dwc3: core: add support for disabling High-speed park mode
Setting the PARKMODE_DISABLE_HS bit in the DWC3_USB3_GUCTL1. When this bit is set to '1' all HS bus instances in park mode are disabled For some USB wifi devices, if enable this feature it will reduce the performance. Therefore, add an option for disabling HS park mode by device-tree. In Synopsys's dwc3 data book: In a few high speed devices when an IN request is sent within 900ns of the ACK of the previous packet, these devices send a NAK. When connected to these devices, if required, the software can disable the park mode if you see performance drop in your system. When park mode is disabled, pipelining of multiple packet is disabled and instead one packet at a time is requested by the scheduler. This allows up to 12 NAKs in a micro-frame and improves performance of these slow devices.
