f45a4248ea net: usb: rtl8150: set random MAC address when set_ethernet_addr() fails
When get_registers() fails in set_ethernet_addr(),the uninitialized
value of node_id gets copied over as the address.
So, check the return value of get_registers().

If get_registers() executed successfully (i.e., it returns
sizeof(node_id)), copy over the MAC address using ether_addr_copy()
(instead of using memcpy()).

Else, if get_registers() failed instead, a randomly generated MAC
address is set as the MAC address instead.

cfa1b49319 net: usb: net1080: Remove in_interrupt() comment
The comment above nc_vendor_write() suggests that the function could become
async so that is usable in `in_interrupt()' context or that it already is
safe to be called from such a context.

Eitherway: The function did not become async since v2.4.9.2 (2002) and it
must be not be called from `in_interrupt()' context because it sleeps on
mutltiple occations.

Remove the misleading comment.

a19c261901 net: usb: kaweth: Remove last user of kaweth_control()
kaweth_async_set_rx_mode() invokes kaweth_contol() and has two callers:

- kaweth_open() which is invoked from preemptible context
.
- kaweth_start_xmit() which holds a spinlock and has bottom halfs disabled.

If called from kaweth_start_xmit() kaweth_async_set_rx_mode() obviously
cannot block, which means it can't call kaweth_control(). This is detected
with an in_interrupt() check.

Replace the in_interrupt() check in kaweth_async_set_rx_mode() with an
argument which is set true by the caller if the context is safe to sleep,
otherwise false.

Now kaweth_control() is only called from preemptible context which means
there is no need for GFP_ATOMIC allocations anymore. Replace it with
usb_control_msg(). Cleanup the code a bit while at it.

Finally remove kaweth_control() since the last user is gone.

af3563be9d net: usb: kaweth: Replace kaweth_control() with usb_control_msg()
kaweth_control() is almost the same as usb_control_msg() except for the
memory allocation mode (GFP_ATOMIC vs GFP_NOIO) and the in_interrupt()
check.

All the invocations of kaweth_control() are within the probe function in
fully preemtible context so there is no reason to use atomic allocations,
GFP_NOIO which is used by usb_control_msg() is perfectly fine.

Replace kaweth_control() invocations from probe with usb_control_msg().

4202c9fdf0 rndis_host: increase sleep time in the query-response loop
Some WinCE devices face connectivity issues via the NDIS interface. They
fail to register, resulting in -110 timeout errors and failures during the
probe procedure.

In this kind of WinCE devices, the Windows-side ndis driver needs quite
more time to be loaded and configured, so that the linux rndis host queries
to them fail to be responded correctly on time.

More specifically, when INIT is called on the WinCE side - no other
requests can be served by the Client and this results in a failed QUERY
afterwards.

The increase of the waiting time on the side of the linux rndis host in
the command-response loop leaves the INIT process to complete and respond
to a QUERY, which comes afterwards. The WinCE devices with this special
"feature" in their ndis driver are satisfied by this fix.

The UDP reuseport conflict was a little bit tricky.

The net-next code, via bpf-next, extracted the reuseport handling
into a helper so that the BPF sk lookup code could invoke it.

At the same time, the logic for reuseport handling of unconnected
sockets changed via commit efc6b6f6c3113e8b203b9debfb72d81e0f3dcace
which changed the logic to carry on the reuseport result into the
rest of the lookup loop if we do not return immediately.

This requires moving the reuseport_has_conns() logic into the callers.

While we are here, get rid of inline directives as they do not belong
in foo.c files.

The other changes were cases of more straightforward overlapping
modifications.

0226009ce0 net: cdc_ether: use dev->intf to get interface information
usbnet_cdc_update_filter was getting the interface number from the
usb_interface struct in cdc_state->control. However, cdc_ncm does
not initialize that structure in its bind function, but uses
cdc_ncm_ctx instead. Getting intf directly from struct usbnet solves
the problem.

As "unsigned long" is 32-bit on sparc32, fix this by casting all tcflag_t
parameters to "unsigned int".
While at it, use "%u" to format unsigned numbers.

still in use by the concurrently running workqueue callback. Thus switch
to using cancel_delayed_work_sync() to ensure the work callback really
is no longer active.

e869e7a177 net: usb: ax88179_178a: fix packet alignment padding
Using a AX88179 device (0b95:1790), I see two bytes of appended data on
every RX packet. For example, this 48-byte ping, using 0xff as a
payload byte:

  04:20:22.528472 IP 192.168.1.1 > 192.168.1.2: ICMP echo request, id 2447, seq 1, length 64
	0x0000: 000a cd35 ea50 000a cd35 ea4f 0800 4500
	0x0010: 0054 c116 4000 4001 f63e c0a8 0101 c0a8
	0x0020: 0102 0800 b633 098f 0001 87ea cd5e 0000
	0x0030: 0000 dcf2 0600 0000 0000 ffff ffff ffff
0x0040: ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff
0x0050: ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff ffff
	0x0060: ffff 961f

Those last two bytes - 96 1f - aren't part of the original packet.

In the ax88179 RX path, the usbnet rx_fixup function trims a 2-byte
'alignment pseudo header' from the start of the packet, and sets the
length from a per-packet field populated by hardware. It looks like that
length field *includes* the 2-byte header; the current driver assumes
that it's excluded.

This change trims the 2-byte alignment header after we've set the packet
length, so the resulting packet length is correct. While we're moving
the comment around, this also fixes the spelling of 'pseudo'.

a7f7f6248d treewide: replace '---help---' in Kconfig files with 'help'
Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over
'---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually
decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.

This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,
I also fixed the indentation.

There are a variety of indentation styles found.

  a) 4 spaces + '---help---'
  b) 7 spaces + '---help---'
  c) 8 spaces + '---help---'
  d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---'
  e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation)
  f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---'
  g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---'

In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the
following commend:

  $ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/'
