Pull io_uring fixes from Jens Axboe:
"Two minor fixes for issues introduced in this release cycle, and two
fixes for issues or potential issues that are heading to stable.

One of these ends up disabling passing io_uring file descriptors via
SCM_RIGHTS. There really shouldn't be an overlap between that kind of
historic use case and modern usage of io_uring, which is why this was
  deemed appropriate"

e5dc5afff6 neighbour: Don't let neigh_forced_gc() disable preemption for long
We are seeing cases where neigh_cleanup_and_release() is called by
neigh_forced_gc() many times in a row with preemption turned off.
When running on a low powered CPU at a low CPU frequency, this has
been measured to keep preemption off for ~10 ms. That's not great on a
system with HZ=1000 which expects tasks to be able to schedule in
with ~1ms latency.

e03781879a drop_monitor: Require 'CAP_SYS_ADMIN' when joining "events" group
The "NET_DM" generic netlink family notifies drop locations over the
"events" multicast group. This is problematic since by default generic
netlink allows non-root users to listen to these notifications.

Fix by adding a new field to the generic netlink multicast group
structure that when set prevents non-root users or root without the
'CAP_SYS_ADMIN' capability (in the user namespace owning the network
namespace) from joining the group. Set this field for the "events"
group. Use 'CAP_SYS_ADMIN' rather than 'CAP_NET_ADMIN' because of the
nature of the information that is shared over this group.

Note that the capability check in this case will always be performed
against the initial user namespace since the family is not netns aware
and only operates in the initial network namespace.

A new field is added to the structure rather than using the "flags"
field because the existing field uses uAPI flags and it is inappropriate
to add a new uAPI flag for an internal kernel check. In net-next we can
rework the "flags" field to use internal flags and fold the new field
into it. But for now, in order to reduce the amount of changes, add a
new field.

Since the information can only be consumed by root, mark the control
plane operations that start and stop the tracing as root-only using the
'GENL_ADMIN_PERM' flag.

Tested using [1].

705318a99a io_uring/af_unix: disable sending io_uring over sockets
File reference cycles have caused lots of problems for io_uring
in the past, and it still doesn't work exactly right and races with
unix_stream_read_generic(). The safest fix would be to completely
disallow sending io_uring files via sockets via SCM_RIGHT, so there
are no possible cycles invloving registered files and thus rendering
SCM accounting on the io_uring side unnecessary.

b8dbbbc535 net: rtnetlink: remove local list in __linkwatch_run_queue()
Due to linkwatch_forget_dev() (and perhaps others?) checking for
list_empty(&dev->link_watch_list), we must have all manipulations
of even the local on-stack list 'wrk' here under spinlock, since
even that list can be reached otherwise via dev->link_watch_list.

This is already the case, but makes this a bit counter-intuitive,
often local lists are used to _not_ have to use locking for their
local use.

Remove the local list as it doesn't seem to serve any purpose.
While at it, move a variable declaration into the loop using it.

facd15dfd6 net: core: synchronize link-watch when carrier is queried
There are multiple ways to query for the carrier state: through
rtnetlink, sysfs, and (possibly) ethtool. Synchronize linkwatch
work before these operations so that we don't have a situation
where userspace queries the carrier state between the driver's
carrier off->on transition and linkwatch running and expects it
to work, when really (at least) TX cannot work until linkwatch
has run.

I previously posted a longer explanation of how this applies to
wireless [1] but with this wireless can simply query the state
before sending data, to ensure the kernel is ready for it.

The main changes are:

1) Add initial TX metadata implementation for AF_XDP with support in mlx5
and stmmac drivers. Two types of offloads are supported right now, that
is, TX timestamp and TX checksum offload, from Stanislav Fomichev with
stmmac implementation from Song Yoong Siang.

2) Change BPF verifier logic to validate global subprograms lazily instead
of unconditionally before the main program, so they can be guarded using
BPF CO-RE techniques, from Andrii Nakryiko.

3) Add BPF link_info support for uprobe multi link along with bpftool
integration for the latter, from Jiri Olsa.

4) Use pkg-config in BPF selftests to determine ld flags which is
in particular needed for linking statically, from Akihiko Odaki.

5) Fix a few BPF selftest failures to adapt to the upcoming LLVM18,
   from Yonghong Song.

f9893fdac3 net: page_pool: fix general protection fault in page_pool_unlist
syzbot was able to trigger a crash [1] in page_pool_unlist()

page_pool_list() only inserts a page pool into a netdev page pool list
if a netdev was set in params.

Even if the kzalloc() call in page_pool_create happens to initialize
pool->user.list, I chose to be more explicit in page_pool_list()
adding one INIT_HLIST_NODE().

We could test in page_pool_unlist() if netdev was set,
but since netdev can be changed to lo, it seems more robust to
check if pool->user.list is hashed before calling hlist_del().

8866730aed bpf, sockmap: af_unix stream sockets need to hold ref for pair sock
AF_UNIX stream sockets are a paired socket. So sending on one of the pairs
will lookup the paired socket as part of the send operation. It is possible
however to put just one of the pairs in a BPF map. This currently increments
the refcnt on the sock in the sockmap to ensure it is not free'd by the
stack before sockmap cleans up its state and stops any skbs being sent/recv'd
to that socket.

But we missed a case. If the peer socket is closed it will be free'd by the
stack. However, the paired socket can still be referenced from BPF sockmap
side because we hold a reference there. Then if we are sending traffic through
BPF sockmap to that socket it will try to dereference the free'd pair in its
send logic creating a use after free. And following splat:

   [59.900375] BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in sk_wake_async+0x31/0x1b0
[59.901211] Read of size 8 at addr ffff88811acbf060 by task kworker/1:2/954

   [59.920527] sk_psock_backlog+0x287/0xaa0

To fix let BPF sockmap hold a refcnt on both the socket in the sockmap and its
paired socket. It wasn't obvious how to contain the fix to bpf_unix logic. The
primarily problem with keeping this logic in bpf_unix was: In the sock close()
we could handle the deref by having a close handler. But, when we are destroying
the psock through a map delete operation we wouldn't have gotten any signal
thorugh the proto struct other than it being replaced. If we do the deref from
the proto replace its too early because we need to deref the sk_pair after the
backlog worker has been stopped.

Given all this it seems best to just cache it at the end of the psock and eat 8B
for the af_unix and vsock users. Notice dgram sockets are OK because they handle
locking already.

48eb03dd26 xsk: Add TX timestamp and TX checksum offload support
This change actually defines the (initial) metadata layout
that should be used by AF_XDP userspace (xsk_tx_metadata).
The first field is flags which requests appropriate offloads,
followed by the offload-specific fields. The supported per-device
offloads are exported via netlink (new xsk-flags).

The offloads themselves are still implemented in a bit of a
framework-y fashion that's left from my initial kfunc attempt.
I'm introducing new xsk_tx_metadata_ops which drivers are
supposed to implement. The drivers are also supposed
to call xsk_tx_metadata_request/xsk_tx_metadata_complete in
the right places. Since xsk_tx_metadata_{request,_complete}
are static inline, we don't incur any extra overhead doing
indirect calls.

The benefit of this scheme is as follows:
- keeps all metadata layout parsing away from driver code
- makes it easy to grep and see which drivers implement what
- don't need any extra flags to maintain to keep track of what
offloads are implemented; if the callback is implemented - the offload
is supported (used by netlink reporting code)

Two offloads are defined right now:
1. XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_CHECKSUM: skb-style csum_start+csum_offset
2. XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_TIMESTAMP: writes TX timestamp back into metadata
   area upon completion (tx_timestamp field)

XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_TIMESTAMP is also implemented for XDP_COPY mode: it writes
SW timestamp from the skb destructor (note I'm reusing hwtstamps to pass
metadata pointer).

The struct is forward-compatible and can be extended in the future
by appending more fields.

be0096676e net: page_pool: mute the periodic warning for visible page pools
Mute the periodic "stalled pool shutdown" warning if the page pool
is visible to user space. Rolling out a driver using page pools
to just a few hundred hosts at Meta surfaces applications which
fail to reap their broken sockets. Obviously it's best if the
applications are fixed, but we don't generally print warnings
for application resource leaks. Admins can now depend on the
netlink interface for getting page pool info to detect buggy

While at it throw in the ID of the pool into the message,

Or we record them directly on the netdev so they move with the netdev

Implement the latter option. Since pools may outlast netdev we need
a place to store orphans. In time honored tradition use loopback

dd891b5b10 net: do not send a MOVE event when netdev changes netns
Networking supports changing netdevice's netns and name
at the same time. This allows avoiding name conflicts
and having to rename the interface in multiple steps.
E.g. netns1={eth0, eth1}, netns2={eth1} - we want
to move netns1:eth1 to netns2 and call it eth0 there.
If we can't rename "in flight" we'd need to (1) rename
eth1 -> $tmp, (2) change netns, (3) rename $tmp -> eth0.

To rename the underlying struct device we have to call
device_rename(). The rename()'s MOVE event, however, doesn't
"belong" to either the old or the new namespace.
If there are conflicts on both sides it's actually impossible
to issue a real MOVE (old name -> new name) without confusing
user space. And Daniel reports that such confusions do in fact
happen for systemd, in real life.

Since we already issue explicit REMOVE and ADD events
manually - suppress the MOVE event completely. Move
the ADD after the rename, so that the REMOVE uses
the old name, and the ADD the new one.

If there is no rename this changes the picture as follows:

Before:

old ns | KERNEL[213.399289] remove /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[213.401302] add /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[213.401397] move /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)

After:

old ns | KERNEL[266.774257] remove /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[266.774509] add /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)

If there is a rename and a conflict (using the exact eth0/eth1
example explained above) we get this:

Before:

old ns | KERNEL[224.316833] remove /devices/virtual/net/eth1 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[224.318551] add /devices/virtual/net/eth1 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[224.319662] move /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)

After:

old ns | KERNEL[333.033166] remove /devices/virtual/net/eth1 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[333.035098] add /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)

Note that "in flight" rename is only performed when needed.
If there is no conflict for old name in the target netns -
the rename will be performed separately by dev_change_name(),
as if the rename was a different command, and there will still
be a MOVE event for the rename:

Before:

old ns | KERNEL[194.416429] remove /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[194.418809] add /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[194.418869] move /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[194.420866] move /devices/virtual/net/eth1 (net)

After:

old ns | KERNEL[71.917520] remove /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[71.919155] add /devices/virtual/net/eth0 (net)
new ns | KERNEL[71.920729] move /devices/virtual/net/eth1 (net)

If deleting the MOVE event breaks some user space we should insert

2c22542570 bpf, netkit: Add indirect call wrapper for fetching peer dev
ndo_get_peer_dev is used in tcx BPF fast path, therefore make use of
indirect call wrapper and therefore optimize the bpf_redirect_peer()
internal handling a bit. Add a small skb_get_peer_dev() wrapper which
utilizes the INDIRECT_CALL_1() macro instead of open coding.

Future work could potentially add a peer pointer directly into struct
net_device in future and convert veth and netkit over to use it so
that eventually ndo_get_peer_dev can be removed.

024ee930cb bpf: Fix dev's rx stats for bpf_redirect_peer traffic
Traffic redirected by bpf_redirect_peer() (used by recent CNIs like Cilium)
is not accounted for in the RX stats of supported devices (that is, veth
and netkit), confusing user space metrics collectors such as cAdvisor [0],
as reported by Youlun.

Fix it by calling dev_sw_netstats_rx_add() in skb_do_redirect(), to update
RX traffic counters. Devices that support ndo_get_peer_dev _must_ use the
@tstats per-CPU counters (instead of @lstats, or @dstats).

To make this more fool-proof, error out when ndo_get_peer_dev is set but
@tstats are not selected.

  [0] Specifically, the "container_network_receive_{byte,packet}s_total"
      counters are affected.

0f7f463d48 net: Change the API of PHY default timestamp to MAC
Change the API to select MAC default time stamping instead of the PHY.
Indeed the PHY is closer to the wire therefore theoretically it has less
delay than the MAC timestamping but the reality is different. Due to lower
time stamping clock frequency, latency in the MDIO bus and no PHC hardware
synchronization between different PHY, the PHY PTP is often less precise
than the MAC. The exception is for PHY designed specially for PTP case but
these devices are not very widespread. For not breaking the compatibility I
introduce a default_timestamp flag in phy_device that is set by the phy
driver to know we are using the old API behavior.

The phy_set_timestamp function is called at each call of phy_attach_direct.
In case of MAC driver using phylink this function is called when the
interface is turned up. Then if the interface goes down and up again the
last choice of timestamp will be overwritten by the default choice.
A solution could be to cache the timestamp status but it can bring other
issues. In case of SFP, if we change the module, it doesn't make sense to
blindly re-set the timestamp back to PHY, if the new module has a PHY with
mediocre timestamping capabilities.

674e318089 net: Fix undefined behavior in netdev name allocation
Cited commit removed the strscpy() call and kept the snprintf() only.

It is common to use 'dev->name' as the format string before a netdev is
registered, this results in 'res' and 'name' pointers being equal.
According to POSIX, if copying takes place between objects that overlap
as a result of a call to sprintf() or snprintf(), the results are
undefined.

Add back the strscpy() and use 'buf' as an intermediate buffer.
