f026bc29a8 l2tp: pass tunnel pointer to ->session_create()
Using l2tp_tunnel_find() in pppol2tp_session_create() and
l2tp_eth_create() is racy, because no reference is held on the
returned session. These functions are only used to implement the
->session_create callback which is run by l2tp_nl_cmd_session_create().
Therefore searching for the parent tunnel isn't necessary because
l2tp_nl_cmd_session_create() already has a pointer to it and holds a
reference.

This patch modifies ->session_create()'s prototype to directly pass the
the parent tunnel as parameter, thus avoiding searching for it in
pppol2tp_session_create() and l2tp_eth_create().

Since we have to touch the ->session_create() call in
l2tp_nl_cmd_session_create(), let's also remove the useless conditional:
we know that ->session_create isn't NULL at this point because it's
already been checked earlier in this same function.

Finally, one might be tempted to think that the removed
l2tp_tunnel_find() calls were harmless because they would return the
same tunnel as the one held by l2tp_nl_cmd_session_create() anyway.
But that tunnel might be removed and a new one created with same tunnel
Id before the l2tp_tunnel_find() call. In this case l2tp_tunnel_find()
would return the new tunnel which wouldn't be protected by the
reference held by l2tp_nl_cmd_session_create().

9b3dc0a17d l2tp: cast l2tp traffic counter to unsigned
This fixes a counter problem on 32bit systems:
When the rx_bytes counter reached 2 GiB, it jumpd to (2^64 Bytes - 2GiB) Bytes.

rtnl_link_stats64 has __u64 type and atomic_long_read returns
atomic_long_t which is signed. Due to the conversation
we get an incorrect value on 32bit systems if the MSB of
the atomic_long_t value is set.

cf124db566 net: Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state.
Network devices can allocate reasources and private memory using
netdev_ops->ndo_init().  However, the release of these resources
can occur in one of two different places.

Either netdev_ops->ndo_uninit() or netdev->destructor().

The decision of which operation frees the resources depends upon
whether it is necessary for all netdev refs to be released before it
is safe to perform the freeing.

netdev_ops->ndo_uninit() presumably can occur right after the
NETDEV_UNREGISTER notifier completes and the unicast and multicast
address lists are flushed.

netdev->destructor(), on the other hand, does not run until the
netdev references all go away.

Further complicating the situation is that netdev->destructor()
almost universally does also a free_netdev().

This creates a problem for the logic in register_netdevice().
Because all callers of register_netdevice() manage the freeing
of the netdev, and invoke free_netdev(dev) if register_netdevice()
fails.

If netdev_ops->ndo_init() succeeds, but something else fails inside
of register_netdevice(), it does call ndo_ops->ndo_uninit().  But
it is not able to invoke netdev->destructor().

This is because netdev->destructor() will do a free_netdev() and
then the caller of register_netdevice() will do the same.

However, this means that the resources that would normally be released
by netdev->destructor() will not be.

Over the years drivers have added local hacks to deal with this, by
invoking their destructor parts by hand when register_netdevice()
fails.

Many drivers do not try to deal with this, and instead we have leaks.

Let's close this hole by formalizing the distinction between what
private things need to be freed up by netdev->destructor() and whether
the driver needs unregister_netdevice() to perform the free_netdev().

netdev->priv_destructor() performs all actions to free up the private
resources that used to be freed by netdev->destructor(), except for
free_netdev().

netdev->needs_free_netdev is a boolean that indicates whether
free_netdev() should be done at the end of unregister_netdevice().

Now, register_netdevice() can sanely release all resources after
ndo_ops->ndo_init() succeeds, by invoking both ndo_ops->ndo_uninit()
and netdev->priv_destructor().

And at the end of unregister_netdevice(), we invoke
netdev->priv_destructor() and optionally call free_netdev().

There's no need to verify that cfg->ifname is unique at this point.
register_netdev() will return -EEXIST if asked to create a device with
a name that's alrealy in use.

c39855febc l2tp: set name_assign_type for devices created by l2tp_eth.c
Export naming scheme used when creating l2tpeth interfaces
(/sys/class/net/<iface>/name_assign_type). This let userspace know if
the device's name has been generated automatically or defined manually.

b784e7ebfc L2TP:Adjust intf MTU, add underlay L3, L2 hdrs.
Existing L2TP kernel code does not derive the optimal MTU for Ethernet
pseudowires and instead leaves this to a userspace L2TP daemon or
operator. If an MTU is not specified, the existing kernel code chooses
an MTU that does not take account of all tunnel header overheads, which
can lead to unwanted IP fragmentation. When L2TP is used without a
control plane (userspace daemon), we would prefer that the kernel does a
better job of choosing a default pseudowire MTU, taking account of all
tunnel header overheads, including IP header options, if any. This patch
addresses this.

Change-set here uses the new kernel function, kernel_sock_ip_overhead(),
to factor the outer IP overhead on the L2TP tunnel socket (including
IP Options, if any) when calculating the default MTU for an Ethernet
pseudowire, along with consideration of the inner Ethernet header.

dbdbc73b44 l2tp: fix duplicate session creation
l2tp_session_create() relies on its caller for checking for duplicate
sessions. This is racy since a session can be concurrently inserted
after the caller's verification.

Fix this by letting l2tp_session_create() verify sessions uniqueness
upon insertion. Callers need to be adapted to check for
l2tp_session_create()'s return code instead of calling
l2tp_session_find().

pppol2tp_connect() is a bit special because it has to work on existing
sessions (if they're not connected) or to create a new session if none
is found. When acting on a preexisting session, a reference must be
held or it could go away on us. So we have to use l2tp_session_get()
instead of l2tp_session_find() and drop the reference before exiting.

bc1f44709c net: make ndo_get_stats64 a void function
The network device operation for reading statistics is only called
in one place, and it ignores the return value. Having a structure
return value is potentially confusing because some future driver could
incorrectly assume that the return value was used.

Fix all drivers with ndo_get_stats64 to have a void function.

All conflicts were simple overlapping changes except perhaps
for the Thunder driver.

That driver has a change_mtu method explicitly for sending
a message to the hardware.  If that fails it returns an
error.

Normally a driver doesn't need an ndo_change_mtu method becuase those
are usually just range changes, which are now handled generically.
But since this extra operation is needed in the Thunder driver, it has
to stay.

However, if the message send fails we have to restore the original
MTU before the change because the entire call chain expects that if
an error is thrown by ndo_change_mtu then the MTU did not change.
Therefore code is added to nicvf_change_mtu to remember the original
MTU, and to restore it upon nicvf_update_hw_max_frs() failue.

7c6ae610a1 net: l2tp: Treat NET_XMIT_CN as success in l2tp_eth_dev_xmit
The tc could return NET_XMIT_CN as one congestion notification, but
it does not mean the packe is lost. Other modules like ipvlan,
macvlan, and others treat NET_XMIT_CN as success too.
So l2tp_eth_dev_xmit should add the NET_XMIT_CN check.

8b1efc0f83 net: remove MTU limits on a few ether_setup callers
These few drivers call ether_setup(), but have no ndo_change_mtu, and thus
were overlooked for changes to MTU range checking behavior. They
previously had no range checks, so for feature-parity, set their min_mtu
to 0 and max_mtu to ETH_MAX_MTU (65535), instead of the 68 and 1500
inherited from the ether_setup() changes. Fine-tuning can come after we get
back to full feature-parity here.

9dd79945b0 l2tp: use IS_ENABLED() instead of checking for built-in or module
The IS_ENABLED() macro checks if a Kconfig symbol has been enabled either
built-in or as a module, use that macro instead of open coding the same.

Using the macro makes the code more readable by helping abstract away some
of the Kconfig built-in and module enable details.

f9eb8aea2a net_sched: transform qdisc running bit into a seqcount
Instead of using a single bit (__QDISC___STATE_RUNNING)
in sch->__state, use a seqcount.

This adds lockdep support, but more importantly it will allow us
to sample qdisc/class statistics without having to grab qdisc root lock.

f1f39f9110 l2tp: auto load type modules
It should not be necessary to do explicit module loading when
configuring L2TP. Modules should be loaded as needed instead
(as is done already with netlink and other tunnel types).

This patch adds a new module alias type and code to load
the sub module on demand.

789336360e l2tp: fix oops in l2tp_eth_create() error path
When creating an L2TPv3 Ethernet session, if register_netdev() should fail for
any reason (for example, automatic naming for "l2tpeth%d" interfaces hits the
32k-interface limit), the netdev is freed in the error path.  However, the
l2tp_eth_sess structure's dev pointer is left uncleared, and this results in
l2tp_eth_delete() then attempting to unregister the same netdev later in the
session teardown.  This results in an oops.

To avoid this, clear the session dev pointer in the error path.

logging code if so.

the creds using different interfaces due to the user namespace changes
from Eric Biederman.

It appears that like most virtual devices, l2tp should be converted to
LLTX mode.

This patch takes care of statistics using atomic_long in both RX and TX
paths, and fix a bug in l2tp_eth_dev_recv(), which was caching skb->data
before a pskb_may_pull() call.

550fd08c2c net: Audit drivers to identify those needing IFF_TX_SKB_SHARING cleared
After the last patch, We are left in a state in which only drivers calling
ether_setup have IFF_TX_SKB_SHARING set (we assume that drivers touching real
hardware call ether_setup for their net_devices and don't hold any state in
their skbs.  There are a handful of drivers that violate this assumption of
course, and need to be fixed up.  This patch identifies those drivers, and marks
them as not being able to support the safe transmission of skbs by clearning the
IFF_TX_SKB_SHARING flag in priv_flags

0ad6614048 l2tp: Add debugfs files for dumping l2tp debug info
The existing pppol2tp driver exports debug info to
/proc/net/pppol2tp. Rather than adding info to that file for the new
functionality added in this patch series, we add new files in debugfs,
leaving the old /proc file for backwards compatibility (L2TPv2 only).

Currently only one file is provided: l2tp/tunnels, which lists
internal debug info for all l2tp tunnels and sessions. More files may
be added later. The info is for debug and problem analysis only -
userspace apps should use netlink to obtain status about l2tp tunnels
and sessions.

Although debugfs does not support net namespaces, the tunnels and
sessions dumped in l2tp/tunnels are only those in the net namespace of
the process reading the file.

d9e31d17ce l2tp: Add L2TP ethernet pseudowire support
This driver presents a regular net_device for each L2TP ethernet
pseudowire instance. These interfaces are named l2tpethN by default,
though userspace can specify an alternative name when the L2TP
session is created, if preferred. When the pseudowire is established,
regular Linux networking utilities may be used to configure the
interface, i.e. give it IP address info or add it to a bridge. Any
data passed over the interface is carried over an L2TP tunnel.
