5032b4f449 iio: inkern: only release the device node when done with it
[ Upstream commit 79c3e84874c7d14f04ad58313b64955a0d2e9437 ]

'of_node_put()' can potentially release the memory pointed to by
'iiospec.np' which would leave us with an invalid pointer (and we would
still pass it in 'of_xlate()'). Note that it is not guaranteed for the
of_node lifespan to be attached to the device (to which is attached)
lifespan so that there is (even though very unlikely) the possibility
for the node to be freed while the device is still around. Thus, as there
are indeed some of_xlate users which do access the node, a race is indeed
possible.

As such, we can only release the node after we are done with it.

commit 558a25f903b4af6361b7fbeea08a6446a0745653 upstream.

For reliable operation across the full range of supported
interface rates, the AD5593R needs a STOP condition between
address write, and data read (like show in the datasheet Figure 40)
so in turn i2c_smbus_read_word_swapped cannot be used.

While at it, a simple helper was added to make the code simpler.

47f75a0b06 iio: adc: axp288: Override TS pin bias current for some models
commit 048058399f19d43cf21de9f5d36cd8144337d004 upstream.

Since commit 9bcf15f75cac ("iio: adc: axp288: Fix TS-pin handling") we
preserve the bias current set by the firmware at boot. This fixes issues
we were seeing on various models.

Some models like the Nuvision Solo 10 Draw tablet actually need the
old hardcoded 80ųA bias current for battery temperature monitoring
to work properly.

Add a quirk entry for the Nuvision Solo 10 Draw to the DMI quirk table
to restore setting the bias current to 80ųA on this model.

714b605ebf iio:accel:bma180: rearrange iio trigger get and register
commit e5f3205b04d7f95a2ef43bce4b454a7f264d6923 upstream.

IIO trigger interface function iio_trigger_get() should be called after
iio_trigger_register() (or its devm analogue) strictly, because of
iio_trigger_get() acquires module refcnt based on the trigger->owner
pointer, which is initialized inside iio_trigger_register() to
THIS_MODULE.
If this call order is wrong, the next iio_trigger_put() (from sysfs

commit 45febe0d63917ee908198c5be08511c64ee1790a upstream.

IIO trigger handlers need to return one of the irqreturn_t values.
Returning an error code is not supported.

The kxsd9 interrupt handler returns an error code if reading the data
registers fails. In addition when exiting due to an error the trigger
handler does not call `iio_trigger_notify_done()`. Which when not done
keeps the triggered disabled forever.

Modify the code so that the function returns a valid irqreturn_t value as
well as calling `iio_trigger_notify_done()` on all exit paths.

commit cd0082235783f814241a1c9483fb89e405f4f892 upstream.

The mma8452 driver directly assigns a trigger to the struct iio_dev. The
IIO core when done using this trigger will call `iio_trigger_put()` to drop
the reference count by 1.

Without the matching `iio_trigger_get()` in the driver the reference count
can reach 0 too early, the trigger gets freed while still in use and a
use-after-free occurs.

a2cce4fed1 iio: trigger: Fix reference counting
commit a827a4984664308f13599a0b26c77018176d0c7c upstream.

In viio_trigger_alloc() device_initialize() is used to set the initial
reference count of the trigger to 1. Then another get_device() is called on
trigger. This sets the reference count to 2 before the trigger is returned.

iio_trigger_free(), which is the matching API to viio_trigger_alloc(),
calls put_device() which decreases the reference count by 1. But the second
reference count acquired in viio_trigger_alloc() is never dropped.

As a result the iio_trigger_release() function is never called and the
memory associated with the trigger is never freed.

Since there is no reason for the trigger to start its lifetime with two
reference counts just remove the extra get_device() in
viio_trigger_alloc().

The naming of the regulator is problematic. VCC is usually a supply
voltage whereas these devices have a separate VREF pin.

Secondly, the regulator core might have provided a stub regulator if
a real regulator wasn't provided. That would in turn have failed to
provide a voltage when queried. So reality was that there was no way
to use the internal reference.

In order to avoid breaking any dts out in the wild, make sure to fallback
to the original vcc naming if vref is not available.

13ca1daf27 iio: humidity: hdc100x: Add margin to the conversion time
commit 84edec86f449adea9ee0b4912a79ab8d9d65abb7 upstream.

The datasheets have the following note for the conversion time
specification: "This parameter is specified by design and/or
characterization and it is not tested in production."

Parts have been seen that require more time to do 14-bit conversions for
the relative humidity channel. The result is ENXIO due to the address
phase of a transfer not getting an ACK.

Delay an additional 1 ms per conversion to allow for additional margin.

e276295031 iio: accel: bma180: Fix BMA25x bandwidth register values
commit 8090d67421ddab0ae932abab5a60200598bf0bbb upstream

According to the BMA253 datasheet [1] and BMA250 datasheet [2] the
bandwidth value for BMA25x should be set as 01xxx:

"Settings 00xxx result in a bandwidth of 7.81 Hz; [...]
It is recommended [...] to use the range from ´01000b´ to ´01111b´
only in order to be compatible with future products."

However, at the moment the drivers sets bandwidth values from 0 to 6,
which is not recommended and always results into 7.81 Hz bandwidth
according to the datasheet.

Fix this by introducing a bw_offset = 8 = 01000b for BMA25x,
so the additional bit is always set for BMA25x.

This uses the C99 explicit .member assignment for the
variant data in struct bma180_part_info. This makes it
easier to understand and add new variants.

[ Upstream commit 92babc9938ebbf4050f2fba774836f7edc16a570 ]

Add __aligned(8) to ensure the buffer passed to
iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() is suitable for the naturally
aligned timestamp that will be inserted.

Here an explicit structure is not used, because the holes would
necessitate the addition of an explict memset(), to avoid a kernel
data leak, making for a less minimal fix.
