ee6f7747e1 ALSA: hda/ca0132: minor fix for allocation size

Although the "dma_chan" pointer occupies more or equal space compared
to "*dma_chan", the allocation size should use the size of variable
itself.

7795d8f10e ALSA: hda/hdmi: fix failures at PCM open on Intel ICL and later

When HDMI PCM devices are opened in a specific order, with at least one
HDMI/DP receiver connected, ALSA PCM open fails to -EBUSY on the
connected monitor, on recent Intel platforms (ICL/JSL and newer). While
this is not a typical sequence, at least Pulseaudio does this every time
when it is started, to discover the available PCMs.

The rootcause is an invalid assumption in hdmi_add_pin(), where the
total number of converters is assumed to be known at the time the
function is called. On older Intel platforms this held true, but after
ICL/JSL, the order how pins and converters are in the subnode list as
returned by snd_hda_get_sub_nodes(), was changed. As a result,
information for some converters was not stored to per_pin->mux_nids.
And this means some pins cannot be connected to all converters, and
application instead gets -EBUSY instead at open.

The assumption that converters are always before pins in the subnode
list, is not really a valid one. Fix the problem in hdmi_parse_codec()
by introducing separate loops for discovering converters and pins.

bfa3a66a8e ALSA: hda/ca0132: add quirk for EVGA Z390 DARK

The Z390 DARK mainboard uses a CA0132 audio controller. The quirk is
needed to enable surround sound and 3.5mm headphone jack handling in
the front audio connector as well as in the rear of the board when in
stereo mode.

Page 97 of the linked manual contains instructions to setup the
controller.

3830f0e31a ALSA: hda/realtek: remove ALC289_FIXUP_DUAL_SPK for Dell 5530
commit 417b9c51f59734d852e47252476fadc293ad994a upstream.

After some feedback from users with Dell Precision 5530 machines, this
patch reverts the previous change to add ALC289_FIXUP_DUAL_SPK.
While it improved the speaker output quality, it caused the headphone
jack to have an audible "pop" sound when power saving was toggled.

eecd1b4df1 ALSA: hda: Fix position reporting on Poulsbo

Hans reported that his Sony VAIO VPX11S1E showed the broken sound
behavior at the start of the stream for a couple of seconds, and it
turned out that the position_fix=1 option fixes the issue.  It implies
that the position reporting is inaccurate, and very likely hitting on
all Poulsbo devices.

The patch applies the workaround for Poulsbo generically to switch to
LPIB mode instead of the default position buffer.

f619a7b23e ALSA: hda/realtek: Enable 4-speaker output Dell Precision 5530 laptop

Just as with the 5570 (and the other Dell laptops), this enables the two
subwoofer speakers on the Dell Precision 5530 together with the main
ones, significantly increasing the audio quality. I've tested this
myself on a 5530 and can confirm it's working as expected.

c6d7d57616 ALSA: hda/realtek - Fix headset mic problem for a HP machine with alc221

On a HP 288 Pro G2 MT (X9W02AV), the front mic could not be detected.
In order to get it working, the pin configuration needs to be set
correctly, and the ALC221_FIXUP_HP_288PRO_MIC_NO_PRESENCE fixup needs
to be applied.

e9f039eb4c ALSA: hda/conexant: Fix missing beep setup

Currently the Conexant codec driver sets up the beep NID after calling
snd_hda_gen_parse_auto_config().  It turned out that this results in
the insufficient setup for the beep control, as the generic parser
handles the fake path in snd_hda_gen_parse_auto_config() only if the
beep_nid is set up beforehand.

For dealing with the beep widget properly, call cx_auto_parse_beep()
before snd_hda_gen_parse_auto_config() call.

fd03aed7ec ALSA: hda/realtek - Fix microphone noise on ASUS TUF B550M-PLUS

Set microphone pins 0x18 (rear) and 0x19 (front) to VREF_50 to fix the
microphone noise on ASUS TUF B550M-PLUS which uses the ALCS1200A codec.
The initial value was VREF_80.

The same issue is also present on Windows using both the default Windows
driver and all tested Realtek drivers before version 6.0.9049.1. Comparing
Realtek driver 6.0.9049.1 (the first one without the microphone noise) to
Realtek driver 6.0.9047.1 (the last one with the microphone noise)
revealed that the fix is the result of setting pins 0x18 and 0x19 to
VREF_50.

This fix may also work for other boards that have been reported to have
the same microphone issue and use the ALC1150 and ALCS1200A codecs, since
these codecs are similar and the fix in the Realtek driver on Windows is
common for both. However, it is currently enabled only for ASUS TUF
B550M-PLUS as this is the only board that could be tested.

Commit 5aec98913095 ("ALSA: hda/realtek - ALC236 headset MIC recording
issue") is to solve recording issue met on AL236, by matching codec
variant ALC269_TYPE_ALC257 and ALC269_TYPE_ALC256.

This match can be too broad and Mi Notebook Pro 2020 is broken by the
patch.

Instead, use codec ID to be narrow down the scope, in order to make
ALC256 unaffected.

1b8897e791 ALSA: hda: Fix regression on forced probe mask option

The forced probe mask via probe_mask 0x100 bit doesn't work any longer
as expected since the bus init code was moved and it's clearing the
codec_mask value that was set beforehand.  This patch fixes the
long-time regression by moving the check_probe_mask() call.

62d0f2569e ALSA: hda/realtek: Fix silent output on Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master (newer chipset)
commit 41a8601302ecbe704ac970552c33dc942300fc37 upstream.

Newer versions of the X570 Master come with a newer revision of the
mainboard chipset - the X570S. These boards have the same ALC1220 codec
but seem to initialize the codec with a different parameter in Coef 0x7
which causes the output audio to be very low. We therefore write a
known-good value to Coef 0x7 to fix that. As the value is the exact same
as on the other X570(non-S) boards the same quirk-function can be shared
between both generations.

This commit adds the Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master to the list of boards
using the ALC1220_FIXUP_GB_X570 quirk. This fixes both, the silent output
and the no-audio after reboot from windows problems.

This work has been tested by the folks over at the level1techs forum here:

3680befa19 ALSA: hda/realtek - Fix silent output on Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master after reboot from Windows

This patch addresses an issue where after rebooting from Windows into Linux
there would be no audio output.

It turns out that the Realtek Audio driver on Windows changes some coeffs
which are not being reset/reinitialized when rebooting the machine. As a
result, there is no audio output until these coeffs are being reset to
their initial state. This patch takes care of that by setting known-good
(initial) values to the coeffs.

We initially relied upon alc1220_fixup_clevo_p950() to fix some pins in the
connection list. However, it also sets coef 0x7 which does not need to be
touched. Furthermore, to prevent mixing device-specific quirks I introduced
a new alc1220_fixup_gb_x570() which is heavily based on
alc1220_fixup_clevo_p950() but does not set coeff 0x7 and fixes the coeffs
that are actually needed instead.

This new alc1220_fixup_gb_x570() is believed to also work for other boards,
like the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Extreme and the newer Gigabyte Aorus X570S
Master. However, as there is no way for me to test these I initially only
enable this new behaviour for the mainboard I have which is the Gigabyte
X570(non-S) Aorus Master.

I tested this patch on the 5.15 branch as well as on master and it is
working well for me.

7c37a45df4 ALSA: hda: Reduce udelay() at SKL+ position reporting

The position reporting on Intel Skylake and later chips via
azx_get_pos_skl() contains a udelay(20) call for the capture streams.
A call for this alone doesn't sound too harmful.  However, as the
pointer PCM ops is one of the hottest path in the PCM operations --
especially for the timer-scheduled operations like PulseAudio -- such
a delay hogs CPU usage significantly in the total performance.

The code there was taken from the original code in ASoC SST Skylake
driver blindly.  The udelay() is a workaround for the case where the
reported position is behind the period boundary at the timing
triggered from interrupts; applications often expect that the full
data is available for the whole period when returned (and also that's
the definition of the ALSA PCM period).

OTOH, HD-audio (legacy) driver has already some workarounds for the
delayed position reporting due to its relatively large FIFO, such as
the BDL position adjustment and the delayed period-elapsed call in the
work.  That said, the udelay() is almost superfluous for HD-audio
driver unlike SST, and we can drop the udelay().

Though, the current code doesn't guarantee the full period readiness
as mentioned in the above, but rather it checks the wallclock and
detects the unexpected jump.  That's one missing piece, and the drop
of udelay() needs a bit more sanity checks for the delayed handling.

This patch implements those: the drop of udelay() call in
azx_get_pos_skl() and the more proper check of hwptr in
azx_position_ok().  The latter change is applied only for the case
where the stream is running in the normal mode without
no_period_wakeup flag.  When no_period_wakeup is set, it essentially
ignores the period handling and rather concentrates only on the
current position; which implies that we don't need to care about the
period boundary at all.

Ubuntu users reported an audio bug on the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 14IIL05,
he installed dual OS (Windows + Linux), if he booted to the Linux
from Windows, the Speaker can't work well, it has crackling noise,
if he poweroff the machine first after Windows, the Speaker worked
well.

Before rebooting or shutdown from Windows, the Windows changes the
codec eapd coeff value, but the BIOS doesn't re-initialize its value,
when booting into the Linux from Windows, the eapd coeff value is not
correct. To fix it, set the codec default value to that coeff register
in the alsa driver.

c117fcb342 ALSA: hda: generic: change the DAC ctl name for LO+SPK or LO+HP

Without this change, the DAC ctl's name could be changed only when
the machine has both Speaker and Headphone, but we met some machines
which only has Lineout and Headhpone, and the Lineout and Headphone
share the Audio Mixer0 and DAC0, the ctl's name is set to "Front".

On most of machines, the "Front" is used for Speaker only or Lineout
only, but on this machine it is shared by Lineout and Headphone,
This introduces an issue in the pipewire and pulseaudio, suppose users
want the Headphone to be on and the Speaker/Lineout to be off, they
could turn off the "Front", this works on most of the machines, but on
this machine, the "Front" couldn't be turned off otherwise the
headphone will be off too. Here we do some change to let the ctl's
name change to "Headphone+LO" on this machine, and pipewire and
pulseaudio already could handle "Headphone+LO" and "Speaker+LO".
