Hans reported that his Sony VAIO VPX11S1E showed the broken sound
behavior at the start of the stream for a couple of seconds, and it
turned out that the position_fix=1 option fixes the issue. It implies
that the position reporting is inaccurate, and very likely hitting on
all Poulsbo devices.
The patch applies the workaround for Poulsbo generically to switch to
LPIB mode instead of the default position buffer.

CX20590, the device PCI SSID is 17aa:3977, which headphones are

The forced probe mask via probe_mask 0x100 bit doesn't work any longer
as expected since the bus init code was moved and it's clearing the
codec_mask value that was set beforehand. This patch fixes the
long-time regression by moving the check_probe_mask() call.

The function hda_tegra_first_init() neglects to check the return
value after executing platform_get_irq().
hda_tegra_first_init() should check the return value (if negative
error number) for errors so as to not pass a negative value to
the devm_request_irq().
Fix it by adding a check for the return value irq_id.

Without this change, the DAC ctl's name could be changed only when
the machine has both Speaker and Headphone, but we met some machines
which only has Lineout and Headhpone, and the Lineout and Headphone
share the Audio Mixer0 and DAC0, the ctl's name is set to "Front".
On most of machines, the "Front" is used for Speaker only or Lineout
only, but on this machine it is shared by Lineout and Headphone,
This introduces an issue in the pipewire and pulseaudio, suppose users
want the Headphone to be on and the Speaker/Lineout to be off, they
could turn off the "Front", this works on most of the machines, but on
this machine, the "Front" couldn't be turned off otherwise the
headphone will be off too. Here we do some change to let the ctl's
name change to "Headphone+LO" on this machine, and pipewire and
pulseaudio already could handle "Headphone+LO" and "Speaker+LO".

The quirk entry for Uniwill ECS M31EI is with the PCI SSID device 0,
which means matching with all. That is, it's essentially equivalent
with SND_PCI_QUIRK_VENDOR(0x1584), which also matches with the
previous entry for Haier W18 applying the very same quirk.
Let's unify them with the single vendor-quirk entry.

We found the alc_update_headset_mode() is not called on some machines
when unplugging the headset, as a result, the mode of the
ALC_HEADSET_MODE_UNPLUGGED can't be set, then the current_headset_type
is not cleared, if users plug a differnt type of headset next time,
the determine_headset_type() will not be called and the audio jack is
set to the headset type of previous time.
On the Dell machines which connect the dmic to the PCH, if we open
the gnome-sound-setting and unplug the headset, this issue will
happen. Those machines disable the auto-mute by ucm and has no
internal mic in the input source, so the update_headset_mode() will
not be called by cap_sync_hook or automute_hook when unplugging, and
because the gnome-sound-setting is opened, the codec will not enter
the runtime_suspend state, so the update_headset_mode() will not be
called by alc_resume when unplugging. In this case the
hp_automute_hook is called when unplugging, so add
update_headset_mode() calling to this function.

When HD-audio bus receives unsolicited events during its system
suspend/resume (S3 and S4) phase, the controller driver may still try
to process events although the codec chips are already (or yet)
powered down. This might screw up the codec communication, resulting
in CORB/RIRB errors. Such events should be rather skipped, as the
codec chip status such as the jack status will be fully refreshed at
the system resume time.
Since we're tracking the system suspend/resume state in codec
power.power_state field, let's add the check in the common unsol event
handler entry point to filter out such events.

The per_pin->work might be still floating at the suspend, and this may
hit the access to the hardware at an unexpected timing. Cancel the
work properly at the suspend callback for avoiding the buggy access.
Note that the bug doesn't trigger easily in the recent kernels since
the work is queued only when the repoll count is set, and usually it's
only at the resume callback, but it's still possible to hit in
theory.

It turned out that VIA codecs also mute the sound in the lowest mixer
level. Turn on the dac_min_mute flag to indicate the mute-as-minimum
in TLV like already done in Conexant and IDT codecs.

With the alc289, the Pin 0x1b is Headphone-Mic, so we should assign
ALC269_FIXUP_DELL4_MIC_NO_PRESENCE rather than
ALC225_FIXUP_DELL1_MIC_NO_PRESENCE to it. And this change is suggested
by Kailang of Realtek and is verified on the machine.

CA0132 has the delayed HP jack detection code that is invoked from the
unsol handler, but it does a few weird things: it contains the cancel
of a work inside the work handler, and yet it misses the cancel-sync
call at (runtime-)suspend. This patch addresses those issues.

The generic parser accepts the preferred_dacs[] pairs as a hint for
assigning a DAC to each pin, but this hint doesn't work always
effectively. Currently it's merely a secondary choice after the trial
with the path index failed. This made sometimes it difficult to
assign DACs without mimicking the connection list and/or the badness
table.
This patch adds a new flag, obey_preferred_dacs, that changes the
behavior of the parser. As its name stands, the parser obeys the
given preferred_dacs[] pairs by skipping the path index matching and
giving a high penalty if no DAC is assigned by the pairs. This mode
will help for assigning the fixed DACs forcibly from the codec
driver.

A race exists between closing a PCM and update of ELD data. In
hdmi_pcm_close(), hinfo->nid value is modified without taking
spec->pcm_lock. If this happens concurrently while processing an ELD
update in hdmi_pcm_setup_pin(), converter assignment may be done
incorrectly.
This bug was found by hitting a WARN_ON in snd_hda_spdif_ctls_assign()

Instead of calling mutex_unlock() at each error path multiple times,
take the standard goto-and-a-single-unlock approach. This will
simplify the code and make easier to find the unbalanced mutex locks.
No functional changes, but only the code readability improvement as a
preliminary work for further changes.

RIRB interrupt status getting cleared after the write pointer is read
causes a race condition, where last response(s) into RIRB may remain
unserviced by IRQ, eventually causing azx_rirb_get_response to fall
back to polling mode. Clearing the RIRB interrupt status ahead of
write pointer access ensures that this condition is avoided.

The Tegra HDA codec HW implementation has an issue related to not
swapping the 2 channel Audio Sample Packet(ASP) channel mapping.
Whatever the FL and FR mapping specified the left channel always
comes out of left speaker and right channel on right speaker. So
add condition to disallow the swapping of FL,FR during the playback.

We have a Dell AIO, there is neither internal speaker nor internal
mic, only a multi-function audio jack on it.
Users reported that after freshly installing the OS and plug
a headset to the audio jack, the headset can't output sound. I
reproduced this bug, at that moment, the Input Source is as below:
Simple mixer control 'Input Source',0

Items: 'Headphone Mic' 'Headset Mic'
Item0: 'Headphone Mic'
That is because the patch_realtek will set this audio jack as mic_in
mode if Input Source's value is hp_mic.
If it is not fresh installing, this issue will not happen since the
systemd will run alsactl restore -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state, this
will set the 'Input Source' according to history value.
If there is internal speaker or internal mic, this issue will not
happen since there is valid sink/source in the pulseaudio, the PA will
set the 'Input Source' according to active_port.
To fix this issue, change the parser function to let the hs_mic be
stored ahead of hp_mic.

Lenovo Thinkpad T530 seems to have a sensitive internal mic capture
that needs to limit the mic boost like a few other Thinkpad models.
Although we may change the quirk for ALC269_FIXUP_LENOVO_DOCK, this
hits way too many other laptop models, so let's add a new fixup model
that limits the internal mic boost on top of the existing quirk and
apply to only T530.

A race exists between build_pcms() and build_controls() phases of codec
setup. Build_pcms() sets up notifier for jack events. If a monitor event
is received before build_controls() is run, the initial jack state is
lost and never reported via mixer controls.
The problem can be hit at least with SOF as the controller driver. SOF
calls snd_hda_codec_build_controls() in its workqueue-based probe and
this can be delayed enough to hit the race condition.
Fix the issue by invalidating the per-pin ELD information when
build_controls() is called. The existing call to hdmi_present_sense()
will update the ELD contents. This ensures initial monitor state is
correctly reflected via mixer controls.

The commit 3c6fd1f07ed0 ("ALSA: hda: Add driver blacklist") added a
new blacklist for the devices that are known to have empty codecs, and
one of the entries was ASUS ROG Zenith II (PCI SSID 1043:874f).
However, it turned out that the very same PCI SSID is used for the
previous model that does have the valid HD-audio codecs and the change
broke the sound on it.
Since the empty codec problem appear on the certain AMD platform (PCI
ID 1022:1487), this patch changes the blacklist matching to both PCI
ID and SSID using pci_match_id(). Also, the entry that was removed by
the previous fix for ASUS ROG Zenigh II is re-added.

This patch reverts the corresponding entry as a temporary solution.
Although Zenith II and co will see get the empty HD-audio bus again,
it'd be merely resource wastes and won't affect the functionality,
so it's no end of the world. We'll need to address this later,
e.g. by either switching to DMI string matching or using PCI ID &
SSID pairs.

At the error path of the firmware loading error, the driver tries to
release the card object and set NULL to drvdata. This may be referred
badly at the possible PM action, as the driver itself is still bound
and the PM callbacks read the card object.
Instead, we continue the probing as if it were no option set. This is
often a better choice than the forced abort, too.

The recent commit 98081ca62cba ("ALSA: hda - Record the current power
state before suspend/resume calls") made the HD-audio driver to store
the PM state in power_state field. This forgot, however, the
initialization at power up. Although the codec drivers usually don't
need to refer to this field in the normal operation, let's initialize
it properly for consistency.

The beep control helper function blindly stores the values in two
stereo channels no matter whether the actual control is mono or
stereo. This is practically harmless, but it annoys the recently
introduced sanity check, resulting in an error when the checker is
enabled.
This patch corrects the behavior to store only on the defined array
member.

The recent AMD platform exposes an HD-audio bus but without any actual
codecs, which is internally tied with a USB-audio device, supposedly.
It results in "no codecs" error of HD-audio bus driver, and it's
nothing but a waste of resources.
This patch introduces a static blacklist table for skipping such a
known bogus PCI SSID entry. As of writing this patch, the known SSIDs
are:
* 1043:874f - ASUS ROG Zenith II / Strix
* 1462:cb59 - MSI TRX40 Creator
* 1462:cb60 - MSI TRX40
