a74fec878c cifs: fix noisy message on copy_file_range
commit ae4ccca47195332c69176b8615c5ee17efd30c46 upstream.

There are common cases where copy_file_range can noisily
log "source and target of copy not on same server"
e.g. the mv command across mounts to two different server's shares.
Change this to informational rather than logging as an error.

A followon patch will add dynamic trace points e.g. for
cifs_file_copychunk_range

931fa0799c cifs: fix setting SecurityFlags to true
commit d2346e2836318a227057ed41061114cbebee5d2a upstream.

If you try to set /proc/fs/cifs/SecurityFlags to 1 it
will set them to CIFSSEC_MUST_NTLMV2 which no longer is
relevant (the less secure ones like lanman have been removed
from cifs.ko) and is also missing some flags (like for
signing and encryption) and can even cause mount to fail,
so change this to set it to Kerberos in this case.

Also change the description of the SecurityFlags to remove mention
of flags which are no longer supported.

b95fce863b cifs: fix typo in module parameter enable_gcm_256

ff03a8b422 cifs: use the least loaded channel for sending requests

Till now, we've used a simple round robin approach to
distribute the requests between the channels. This does
not work well if the channels consume the requests at
different speeds, even if the advertised speeds are the
same.

This change will allow the client to pick the channel
with least number of requests currently in-flight. This
will disregard the link speed, and select a channel
based on the current load of the channels.

For cases when all the channels are equally loaded,
fall back to the old round robin method.

arrays in favor of flexible arrays, so that we can gain both compile-time

4f83ca4c7a cifs: reinstate original behavior again for forceuid/forcegid
[ Upstream commit 77d8aa79ecfb209308e0644c02f655122b31def7 ]

forceuid/forcegid should be enabled by default when uid=/gid= options are
specified, but commit 24e0a1eff9e2 ("cifs: switch to new mount api")
changed the behavior. Due to the change, a mounted share does not show
intentional uid/gid for files and directories even though uid=/gid=
options are specified since forceuid/forcegid are not enabled.

This patch reinstates original behavior that overrides uid/gid with
specified uid/gid by the options.

e24e165190 smb: client: fix rename(2) regression against samba
[ Upstream commit 18d86965e31f9be4d477da0744a7cdc9815858de ]

After commit 2c7d399e551c ("smb: client: reuse file lease key in
compound operations") the client started reusing lease keys for
rename, unlink and set path size operations to prevent it from
breaking its own leases and thus causing unnecessary lease breaks to
same connection.

The implementation relies on positive dentries and
cifsInodeInfo::lease_granted to decide whether reusing lease keys for
the compound requests.  cifsInodeInfo::lease_granted was introduced by
commit 0ab95c2510b6 ("Defer close only when lease is enabled.") to
indicate whether lease caching is granted for a specific file, but
that can only happen until file is open, so
cifsInodeInfo::lease_granted was left uninitialised in ->alloc_inode
and then client started sending random lease keys for files that
hadn't any leases.

This fixes the following test case against samba:

mount.cifs //srv/share /mnt/1 -o ...,nosharesock
mount.cifs //srv/share /mnt/2 -o ...,nosharesock
touch /mnt/1/foo; tail -f /mnt/1/foo & pid=$!
mv /mnt/2/foo /mnt/2/bar # fails with -EIO
kill $pid

8c99dfb49b smb3: retrying on failed server close

In the current implementation, CIFS close sends a close to the
server and does not check for the success of the server close.
This patch adds functionality to check for server close return
status and retries in case of an EBUSY or EAGAIN error.

This can help avoid handle leaks

78942ac754 cifs: Fix caching to try to do open O_WRONLY as rdwr on server

When we're engaged in local caching of a cifs filesystem, we cannot perform
caching of a partially written cache granule unless we can read the rest of
the granule.  This can result in unexpected access errors being reported to
the user.

Fix this by the following: if a file is opened O_WRONLY locally, but the
mount was given the "-o fsc" flag, try first opening the remote file with
GENERIC_READ|GENERIC_WRITE and if that returns -EACCES, try dropping the
GENERIC_READ and doing the open again.  If that last succeeds, invalidate
the cache for that file as for O_DIRECT.

852698c9fd cifs: Fix duplicate fscache cookie warnings

fscache emits a lot of duplicate cookie warnings with cifs because the
index key for the fscache cookies does not include everything that the
cifs_find_inode() function does.  The latter is used with iget5_locked() to
distinguish between inodes in the local inode cache.

Fix this by adding the creation time and file type to the fscache cookie
key.

Additionally, add a couple of comments to note that if one is changed the
other must be also.

When a user tries to use the "sec=krb5p" mount parameter to encrypt
data on connection to a server (when authenticating with Kerberos), we
indicate that it is not supported, but do not note the equivalent
recommended mount parameter ("sec=krb5,seal") which turns on encryption
for that mount (and uses Kerberos for auth).  Update the warning message.

be36276cb8 smb: client: increase number of PDUs allowed in a compound request

With the introduction of SMB2_OP_QUERY_WSL_EA, the client may now send
5 commands in a single compound request in order to query xattrs from
potential WSL reparse points, which should be fine as we currently
allow up to 5 PDUs in a single compound request.  However, if
encryption is enabled (e.g. 'seal' mount option) or enforced by the
server, current MAX_COMPOUND(5) won't be enough as we require an extra
PDU for the transform header.

Fix this by increasing MAX_COMPOUND to 7 and, while we're at it, add
an WARN_ON_ONCE() and return -EIO instead of -ENOMEM in case we
attempt to send a compound request that couldn't include the extra
transform header.

a2aa77b5d8 cifs: translate network errors on send to -ECONNABORTED

When the network stack returns various errors, we today bubble
up the error to the user (in case of soft mounts).

This change translates all network errors except -EINTR and
-EAGAIN to -ECONNABORTED. A similar approach is taken when
we receive network errors when reading from the socket.

The change also forces the cifsd thread to reconnect during
it's next activity.

Recent versions of Clang gets confused about the possible size of the
"user" allocation, and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE ends up emitting a

b2cb83539c cifs: open_cached_dir should not rely on primary channel

open_cached_dir today selects ses->server a.k.a primary channel
to send requests. When multichannel is used, the primary
channel maybe down. So it does not make sense to rely only
on that channel.

In this loop, we step through the buffer and after each item we check
if the size_left is greater than the minimum size we need.  However,
the problem is that "bytes_left" is type ssize_t while sizeof() is type
size_t.  That means that because of type promotion, the comparison is
done as an unsigned and if we have negative bytes left the loop
continues instead of ending.

cbc53148cc cifs: failure to add channel on iface should bump up weight

After the interface selection policy change to do a weighted
round robin, each iface maintains a weight_fulfilled. When the
weight_fulfilled reaches the total weight for the iface, we know
that the weights can be reset and ifaces can be allocated from
scratch again.

During channel allocation failures on a particular channel,
weight_fulfilled is not incremented. If a few interfaces are
inactive, we could end up in a situation where the active
interfaces are all allocated for the total_weight, and inactive
ones are all that remain. This can cause a situation where
no more channels can be allocated further.

This change fixes it by increasing weight_fulfilled, even when
channel allocation failure happens. This could mean that if
there are temporary failures in channel allocation, the iface
weights may not strictly be adhered to. But that's still okay.

The kernel is globally removing the ambiguous 0-length and 1-element
arrays in favor of flexible arrays, so that we can gain both compile-time
and run-time array bounds checking[1].

Replace the trailing 1-element array with a flexible array in the

Fscache has an optimisation by which reads from the cache are skipped
until we know that (a) there's data there to be read and (b) that data
isn't entirely covered by pages resident in the netfs pagecache.  This is
done with two flags manipulated by fscache_note_page_release():

The fscache_note_page_release() function is intended to be called from
->releasepage() - but that only gets called if PG_private or PG_private_2
is set - and currently the former is at the discretion of the network
filesystem and the latter is only set whilst a page is being written to
the cache, so sometimes we miss clearing the optimisation.

Fix this by following Willy's suggestion[1] and adding an address_space
flag, AS_RELEASE_ALWAYS, that causes filemap_release_folio() to always call
->release_folio() if it's set, even if PG_private or PG_private_2 aren't
set.

Note that this would require folio_test_private() and page_has_private() to
become more complicated.  To avoid that, in the places[*] where these are
used to conditionalise calls to filemap_release_folio() and
try_to_release_page(), the tests are removed the those functions just
jumped to unconditionally and the test is performed there.

[*] There are some exceptions in vmscan.c where the check guards more than
just a call to the releaser.  I've added a function, folio_needs_release()
to wrap all the checks for that.

AS_RELEASE_ALWAYS should be set if a non-NULL cookie is obtained from
fscache and cleared in ->evict_inode() before truncate_inode_pages_final()
is called.

Additionally, the FSCACHE_COOKIE_NO_DATA_TO_READ flag needs to be cleared
and the optimisation cancelled if a cachefiles object already contains data
when we open it.

3152a7d361 cifs: do not depend on release_iface for maintaining iface_list

parse_server_interfaces should be in complete charge of maintaining
the iface_list linked list. Today, iface entries are removed
from the list only when the last refcount is dropped.
i.e. in release_iface. However, this can result in undercounting
of refcount if the server stops advertising interfaces (which
Azure SMB server does).

This change puts parse_server_interfaces in full charge of
maintaining the iface_list. So if an empty list is returned
by the server, the entries in the list will immediately be
removed. This way, a following call to the same function will
not find entries in the list.

5982a625fc cifs: cifs_chan_is_iface_active should be called with chan_lock held

cifs_chan_is_iface_active checks the channels of a session to see
if the associated iface is active. This should always happen
with chan_lock held. However, these two callers of this function
were missing this locking.

This change makes sure the function calls are protected with
proper locking.

358bd5f436 cifs: Fix flushing, invalidation and file size with FICLONE
commit c54fc3a4f375663f2361a9cbb2955fb4ef912879 upstream.

Fix a number of issues in the cifs filesystem implementation of the FICLONE
ioctl in cifs_remap_file_range().  This is analogous to the previously
fixed bug in cifs_file_copychunk_range() and can share the helper
functions.

Firstly, the invalidation of the destination range is handled incorrectly:
We shouldn't just invalidate the whole file as dirty data in the file may
get lost and we can't just call truncate_inode_pages_range() to invalidate
the destination range as that will erase parts of a partial folio at each
end whilst invalidating and discarding all the folios in the middle.  We
need to force all the folios covering the range to be reloaded, but we
mustn't lose dirty data in them that's not in the destination range.

Further, we shouldn't simply round out the range to PAGE_SIZE at each end
as cifs should move to support multipage folios.

Secondly, there's an issue whereby a write may have extended the file
locally, but not have been written back yet.  This can leaves the local
idea of the EOF at a later point than the server's EOF.  If a clone request
is issued, this will fail on the server with STATUS_INVALID_VIEW_SIZE
(which gets translated to -EIO locally) if the clone source extends past
the server's EOF.

Fix this by:

 (0) Flush the source region (already done).  The flush does nothing and
     the EOF isn't moved if the source region has no dirty data.

 (1) Move the EOF to the end of the source region if it isn't already at
     least at this point.  If we can't do this, for instance if the server
     doesn't support it, just flush the entire source file.

 (2) Find the folio (if present) at each end of the range, flushing it and
     increasing the region-to-be-invalidated to cover those in their
     entirety.

 (3) Fully discard all the folios covering the range as we want them to be
     reloaded.

 (4) Then perform the extent duplication.

Thirdly, set i_size after doing the duplicate_extents operation as this
value may be used by various things internally.  stat() hides the issue
because setting ->time to 0 causes cifs_getatr() to revalidate the
attributes.

These were causing the cifs/001 xfstest to fail.
