Patch series "add hugetlb_optimize_vmemmap sysctl", v11. This series aims to add hugetlb_optimize_vmemmap sysctl to enable or disable the feature of optimizing vmemmap pages associated with HugeTLB pages. This patch (of 4): If the size of "struct page" is not the power of two but with the feature of minimizing overhead of struct page associated with each HugeTLB is enabled, then the vmemmap pages of HugeTLB will be corrupted after remapping (panic is about to happen in theory). But this only exists when !CONFIG_MEMCG && !CONFIG_SLUB on x86_64. However, it is not a conventional configuration nowadays. So it is not a real word issue, just the result of a code review. But we cannot prevent anyone from configuring that combined configure. This hugetlb_optimize_vmemmap should be disable in this case to fix this issue. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
