Each driver/chip that wants to validate it's product id, can now specify a 'prod_id_reg' and an expected 'prod_id' value. The 'prod_id' value is intentionally left 0 (uninitialized). There aren't (yet) any product IDs with value 0; this enforces that both 'prod_id_reg' and 'prod_id' are specified. At the very least, this routine validates that the SPI connection to the ADIS chip[s] works well. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
