When using the S/PDIF DAI, there is no requirement to call snd_soc_dai_set_fmt() as there is no DAI format definition that defines S/PDIF. In any case, S/PDIF does not have separate clocks, this is embedded into the data stream. Consequently, when attempting to use TDA998x in S/PDIF mode, the attempt to configure TDA998x via the hw_params callback fails as the hdmi_codec_daifmt is left initialised to zero. Since the S/PDIF DAI will only be used by S/PDIF, prepare the hdmi_codec_daifmt structure for this format. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
