Introduce the format lowerdir=lower1:lower2::lowerdata1::lowerdata2 where the lower layers on the right of the :: separators are not merged into the overlayfs merge dirs. Data-only lower layers are only allowed at the bottom of the stack. The files in those layers are only meant to be accessible via absolute redirect from metacopy files in lower layers. Following changes will implement lookup in the data layers. This feature was requested for composefs ostree use case, where the lower data layer should only be accessiable via absolute redirects from metacopy inodes. The lower data layers are not required to a have a unique uuid or any uuid at all, because they are never used to compose the overlayfs inode st_ino/st_dev. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
