Currently, inputting the following command will succeed but actually the value will be truncated: # echo 0x12ffffffff > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_notsent_lowat This is not friendly to the user, so instead, we should report error when the value is larger than UINT_MAX. Fixes: e7d316a02f68 ("sysctl: handle error writing UINT_MAX to u32 fields") Signed-off-by: Liping Zhang <zlpnobody@gmail.com> Cc: Subash Abhinov Kasiviswanathan <subashab@codeaurora.org> Cc: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Eric W. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
