It's OK to keep the pending pin events when disabling or enabling the 'adapter'. Zeroing this can cause a race condition if this happens when the pin kthread is handling a pin event and calls atomic_dec later, causing work_pin_num_events to become negative. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
