The defrag loop processes leaves in batches and starting transaction for each. The whole defragmentation on a given root is protected by a bit but in case the transaction fails, the bit is not cleared In case the transaction fails the bit would prevent starting defragmentation again, so make sure it's cleared. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
