[Why] A seamless transition between modes can be performed if the new incoming mode has the same timing parameters as the optimized mode on a display with a variable vtotal min/max. Smooth video playback usecases can be enabled with this seamless transition by switching to a new mode which has a refresh rate matching the video. [How] Skip full modeset if userspace requested a compatible freesync mode which only differs in the front porch timing from the current mode. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
