When filtering is enabled, the event is copied into a temp buffer instead of being written into the ring buffer directly, because the discarding of events from the ring buffer is very expensive, and doing the extra copy is much faster than having to discard most of the time. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
