commit b20712e853305cbd04673f02b7e52ba5b12c11a9 upstream. This reverts commit b28ff7a7c3245d7f62acc20f15b4361292fe4117. The commit introduced P2SB device scan and resource cache during the boot process to avoid deadlock. But it caused detection failure of IDE controllers on old systems [1]. The IDE controllers on old systems and P2SB devices on newer systems have same PCI DEVFN. It is suspected the confusion between those two is the failure cause. Revert the change at this moment until the proper solution gets ready. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
