The token is supposed to cache the last page used by the set/get helpers. In leaf_space_used the first and last items are accessed, it's not likely they'd be on the same page so there's some overhead caused updating the token address but not using it. ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:

There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
