[ Upstream commit 87f2d1c662fa1761359fdf558246f97e484d177a ] irq_domain_alloc_irqs_hierarchy() has 3 call sites in the compilation unit but only one of them checks for the pointer which is being dereferenced inside the called function. Move the check into the function. This allows for catching the error instead of the following crash: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000 PC is at 0x0 LR is at gpiochip_hierarchy_irq_domain_alloc+0x11f/0x140 ... Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
