According to section "Checks on Guest Control Registers, Debug Registers, and and MSRs" in Intel SDM vol 3C, the following checks are performed on vmentry of nested guests: If the "load debug controls" VM-entry control is 1, bits 63:32 in the DR7 field must be 0. In KVM, GUEST_DR7 is set prior to the vmcs02 VM-entry by kvm_set_dr() and the latter synthesizes a #GP if any bit in the high dword in the former is set. Hence this field needs to be checked in software. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
