[ Upstream commit aea672d054a21782ed8450c75febb6ba3c208ca4 ] The proposed spi_get_device_match_data() helper is for retrieving a driver data associated with the ID in an ID table. First, it tries to get driver data of the device enumerated by firmware interface (usually Device Tree or ACPI). If none is found it falls back to the SPI ID table matching. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
