It was a good idea at the time to not create a mouse node for the multitouch touchscreens, but: - touchscreens following the Win 8 protocol should not have this disturbing mouse node anymore, or if they have, it should be used for something else (like a joystick attached to the screen) - touchpads have it, and they should not use it unless there is a bug, but when the laptop has a trackstick, the data are reported through this mouse node. So instead of whitelisting all of the devices that have a need for the mouse node, just export it. hid-input.c will append a suffix to it ('Mouse'), so users will eventually see if something goes wrong. Linux kernel ============ There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
