The driver never supported more than 2 channels because of ep93xx_i2s_dma_data[] supporting only 1 DMA channel in each direction. Stop enabling two unused I2S controller FIFOs, this will simplify future interrupt support. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.

Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
