commit 4b708b7b1a2c09fbdfff6b942ebe3a160213aacd upstream. The VPD implementation from Chromium Vital Product Data project used to parse data from untrusted input without checking if the meta data is invalid or corrupted. For example, the size from decoded content may be negative value, or larger than whole input buffer. Such invalid data may cause buffer overflow. To fix that, the size parameters passed to vpd_decode functions should be changed to unsigned integer (u32) type, and the parsing of entry header should be refactored so every size field is correctly verified before starting to decode. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
