gnulib wraps Windows' SOCKET handle based send() and recv() functions into file descriptor based ones that are used in libvirt. Even though GnuTLS is using gnulib too, it explicitly doesn't use gnulib's replacement functions on Windows. By default GnuTLS uses the SOCKET handle based send() and recv(). This makes gnutls_handshake() fail internally with a WSAENOTSOCK error because libvirt passes a file descriptor; GnuTLS needs the SOCKET handle. To avoid this mismatch make sure that GnuTLS uses gnulib's replacment functions, by setting custom pull() and push() functions for GnuTLS.
LibVirt : simple API for virtualization Libvirt is a C toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes). It is free software available under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Virtualization of the Linux Operating System means the ability to run multiple instances of Operating Systems concurrently on a single hardware system where the basic resources are driven by a Linux instance. The library aim at providing long term stable C API initially for the Xen paravirtualization but should be able to integrate other virtualization mechanisms if needed.
