Instead of storing command_id as string, direcly
translate string to enum index and use 'command_enum()'
to get string when needed for printing.
This way we can easily detect error in the structure
while parsing it - and we can later avoid separate
'translation' loop.
lvresize --usepolicy requires resized LVs to be active.
(So it's not only required for shared VG).
The test for active pool needs to use lv_info to query 'layer'
otherwise the pool is considered inactive if it was not activated
explicitely - thun 'implicit' activation with VDO or ThinLV was
not managed by --usepolicy option.
Use configure detection instead of trying to directly include
blkid.h inside lvresize.c - where we do not pass in BLKID_CFLAGS
and since we actually do not need to use blkid there, introeduce
test variable HAVE_BLKID_SUBLKS_FSINFO and avoid trying to
use blkid.h in this place - this also fixes builing problem for
systems without blkid.h.
Exclude the new fs resizing capabilities at build time
(rather than run time) if the necessary libblkid features
are not available. When excluded, all fs resizing options
are translated to resize_fsadm. Accessing the new
features now requires rebuilding lvm if libblkid is
upgraded.
The new option "--fs String" for lvresize/lvreduce/lvextend
controls the handling of file systems before/after resizing
the LV. --resizefs is the same as --fs resize.
The new option "--fsmode String" can be used to control
mounting and unmounting of the fs during resizing.
Possible --fs values:
checksize
Only applies to reducing size; does nothing for extend.
Check the fs size and reduce the LV if the fs is not using
the affected space, i.e. the fs does not need to be shrunk.
Fail the command without reducing the fs or LV if the fs is
using the affected space.
resize
Resize the fs using the fs-specific resize command.
This may include mounting, unmounting, or running fsck.
See --fsmode to control mounting behavior, and --nofsck to
disable fsck.
resize_fsadm
Use the old method of calling fsadm to handle the fs
(deprecated.) Warning: this option does not prevent lvreduce
from destroying file systems that are unmounted (or mounted
if prompts are skipped.)
ignore
Resize the LV without checking for or handling a file system.
Warning: using ignore when reducing the LV size may destroy the
file system.
Possible --fsmode values:
manage
Mount or unmount the fs as needed to resize the fs,
and attempt to restore the original mount state at the end.
nochange
Do not mount or unmount the fs. If mounting or unmounting
is required to resize the fs, then do not resize the fs or
the LV and fail the command.
offline
Unmount the fs if it is mounted, and resize the fs while it
is unmounted. If mounting is required to resize the fs,
then do not resize the fs or the LV and fail the command.
Notes on lvreduce:
When no --fs or --resizefs option is specified:
. lvextend default behavior is fs ignore.
. lvreduce default behavior is fs checksize
(includes activating the LV.)
With the exception of --fs resize_fsadm|ignore, lvreduce requires
the recent libblkid fields FSLASTBLOCK and FSBLOCKSIZE.
FSLASTBLOCK*FSBLOCKSIZE is the last byte used by the fs on the LV,
which determines if reducing the fs is necessary.
Enabled extension/mixing of stripes/linears, error and zero
segtype LVs with stripes/linear, error and zero segtypes.
It is not very useful in practice, as the user cannot store any real
data on error or zero segtypes, but it may get some uses in
some scenarios where i.e. some portion of the device should not be
readable. Mixing of types happens on 'extent_size' level:
lvcreate -L1 -n lv vg
lvextend --type error -L+1 vg/lv
lvextend --type zero -L+1 vg/lv
lvextend --type linear -L+1 vg/lv
lvextend --type striped -L+1 vg/lv
lvs -o+segtype,seg_size vg
Note: when the type is not specified, the last segment type is
automatically selected.
It's also a small 'can of worms' since we can't tell LVs if
the LV is linear/error/zero or their mixtures. So the meaning behind
them may need some updates.
We already have this types of LV created i.e by:
vgreduce --removemissing --force
where missing LV segments have been replaced by either
error or zero segtype (lvm.conf).
TODO: it might be worth adding a message while such device is activated.
When lvextend extends an LV that is active with a shared
lock, use this as a signal that other hosts may also have
the LV active, with gfs2 mounted, and should have the LV
refreshed to reflect the new size. Use the libdlmcontrol
run api, which uses dlm_controld/corosync to run an
lvchange --refresh command on other cluster nodes.
Commit f45b689406 caused regression
of lvresize -m and --type parameter
After fix this sequence may work when we also fix syntax description:
lvcreate -l1 -m1 -n lv1 vg
lvextend --type mirror -m1 -l+1 vg/lv1
Use common API design and pass just LV pointer to lv_manip.c functions.
Read cmd struct via lv->vg->cmd when needed.
Also do not try to return EINVALID_CMD_LINE error when we
have already openned VG - this error code can only be returned before
locking VG.
The lvm fullreport works per VG and as such, the vg, lv, pv, seg and
pvseg subreport is done for each VG. However, if the PV is not part of
any VG yet, we still want to display pv and pvseg subreports for these
"orphan" PVs - so enable this for lvm fullreport's process_each_vg call.
If there's parent processing handle, we don't need to create completely
new report group and status report - we'll just reuse the one already
initialized for the parent.
Currently, the situation where this matter is when doing internal report
to do the selection for processing commands where we have parent processing
handle for the command itself and processing handle for the selection
part (that is selection for non-reporting tools).
Commit ca878a3426 introduced an issue
that zero sized extesion suddenly started to be accepted and
missed to return error.
Properly check invalid input values for sizes.
... Using uninitialized value "lockd_state" when calling "lockd_vg"
(even though lockd_vg assigns 0 to the lockd_state, but it looks at
previous state of lockd_state just before that so we need to have
that properly initialized!)
libdm/libdm-report.c:2934: uninit_use_in_call: Using uninitialized value "tm". Field "tm.tm_gmtoff" is uninitialized when calling "_get_final_time".
daemons/lvmlockd/lvmlockctl.c:273: uninit_use_in_call: Using uninitialized element of array "r_name" when calling "format_info_r_action". (just added FIXME as this looks unfinished?)
Start separating the validation from the action in the basic lvresize
code moved to the library.
Remove incorrect use of command line error codes from lvresize library
functions. Move errors.h to tools directory to reinforce this,
exporting public versions of the error codes in lvm2cmd.h for dmeventd
plugins to use.
Extend the lv resize parameter structure to contain everything
the re-size functions need so that the command line does not
need to be present for lower level calls when we call from
library functions.

Fix the usecase when only PV list is specified.
With --poolmetadatasize PV list is used for metadata extents.
Without --poolmetadatasize PV list is used for 100% extension of LV.
Handle the case, when nothing could be resized (i.e. in dmeventd)
Support 'clasic' way of resizing of metadata LV.
Normally we disallow to work with internal 'invisible' devices.
But in this case we can make an exception and if user has some
special needs how to extend thin pool metadata LV - support it.
After resize of metadata LV, the pool will be suspended and resumed,
to be notified of this change.
Add support for lvresize of thin pool metadata device.
lvresize --poolmetadatasize +20 vgname/thinpool_lv
or
lvresize -L +20 vgname/thinpool_lv_tmeta
Where the second one allows all the args for resize (striping...)
and the first option resizes accoding to the last metadata lv segment.
