These things would be nice to have:
o log the relationship of the kernel name and the persistent disk name
2005-12-29 05:51:24 +03:00
to syslog, so any error logged from the kernel can be associated with
2006-08-23 03:32:25 +04:00
any of the links at that time
These things will change in future udev versions:
o make DRIVER== to match only the event device
(DRIVERS must be used, we currently translate it to DRIVERS and print
2006-09-02 16:26:44 +04:00
a warning if DRIVER is used)
2006-08-23 03:32:25 +04:00
o warn if PHYSDEV* keys are used in ENV keys
(they are deprecated and will be removed from a future kernel)
2006-09-02 16:26:44 +04:00
o warn if "device/" is used in a ATTR{}, ATTRS{}, $attr{} key
2006-08-23 03:32:25 +04:00
(the device link must not be used in rules or tools, udev resolves
the link and makes the devices available as parents, which can
be matched with the normal keys)
o warn if BUS, ID, SYSFS are used as keys
(they are SUBSYSTEMS, KERNELS, ATTRS now)
2005-12-29 05:51:24 +03:00
2005-12-29 06:24:15 +03:00
These things are deprecated and scheduled for removal in a future
udev version:
2006-08-23 03:32:25 +04:00
o remove old udevdb dump 'udevinfo -d'
(-e exports everything)
2005-12-29 05:51:24 +03:00
2006-05-27 14:20:51 +04:00
o remove udevstart
2005-12-29 05:51:24 +03:00
(we rely on the kernel "uevent" triggers of kernel 2.6.15 and no longer
want to guess event properties from sysfs like udevstart is doing it)
2005-09-08 14:45:09 +04:00
2006-08-23 03:32:25 +04:00
o remove extra for /etc/dev.d/ /etc/hotplug.d/
(that inefficient stuff should finally go away)
