relicense to LGPLv2.1 (with exceptions) We finally got the OK from all contributors with non-trivial commits to relicense systemd from GPL2+ to LGPL2.1+. Some udev bits continue to be GPL2+ for now, but we are looking into relicensing them too, to allow free copy/paste of all code within systemd. The bits that used to be MIT continue to be MIT. The big benefit of the relicensing is that closed source code may now link against libsystemd-login.so and friends.

units: introduce new Documentation= field and make use of it everywhere This should help making the boot process a bit easier to explore and understand for the administrator. The simple idea is that "systemctl status" now shows a link to documentation alongside the other status and decriptionary information of a service. This patch adds the necessary fields to all our shipped units if we have proper documentation for them.

This is a continuation of 9810e419425263bde86787bc21251f1ad3c35628 > The block is reordered and split to have: > 1. description + documentation > 2. (optionally) conditions > 3. all the dependencies The dependencies for shutdown.target are listed separately because they are the other deps are for startup, and shutdown.target only matter much later.

units: local-fs.target - don't pull in default dependencies Reported by Gerardo Exequiel Pozzi: Looks like [commit a4a878d0] also changes a unrelated file (units/local-fs.target) [partially]reverting the commit 40f862e3 (filesystem targets: disable default dependencies) The side effect, at least in my case is that the "nofail" option in both "crypttab" and "fstab" has partial effect does the default timeout instead of continue normal boot without timeout.

units: introduce remote-fs-setup.target to pull in dependencies from remote mounts This introduces remote-fs-setup.target independently of remote-fs-pre.target. The former is only for pulling things in, the latter only for ordering. The new semantics: remote-fs-setup.target: is pulled in automatically by all remote mounts. Shall be used to pull in other units that want to run when at least one remote mount is set up. Is not ordered against the actual mount units, in order to allow activation of its dependencies even 'a posteriori', i.e. when a mount is established outside of systemd and is only picked up by it. remote-fs-pre.target: needs to be pulled in automatically by the implementing service, is otherwise not part of the initial transaction. This is ordered before all remote mount units. A service that wants to be pulled in and run before all remote mounts should hence have: a) WantedBy=remote-fs-setup.target -- so that it is pulled in b) Wants=remote-fs-pre.target + Before=remote-fs-pre.target -- so that it is ordered before the mount point, normally.

Revert "units: drop OnFailure= from .target units" This reverts commit c7220ca8025e8dbded36131b23a502d975c45754. The removal was done as a reaction to the messages from systemd: initrd-root-fs.target: Requested dependency OnFailure=emergency.target ignored (target units cannot fail). initrd.target: Requested dependency OnFailure=emergency.target ignored (target units cannot fail). initrd-root-device.target: Requested dependency OnFailure=emergency.target ignored (target units cannot fail). initrd-fs.target: Requested dependency OnFailure=emergency.target ignored (target units cannot fail). local-fs.target: Requested dependency OnFailure=emergency.target ignored (target units cannot fail). ... But it seems that the messages themselves are wrong, and the units were OK.
