17ee59c9c9 fuzz: pass -Dc_args=/-Dcpp_args= to fuzzer targets
Prompted by #29972, because right now it's practically impossible to pass
-fno-sanitize=function to the fuzzer targets without some extensive
sed'ing.

This splits both c_args and cpp_args to separate arguments for
tools/meson-build.sh, because the other way would be to use `eval`, so
the space-separated but quoted strings passed to these options are not
split where they shouldn't, and I'd rather avoid using `eval` if
possible.

Also, this switches the positional arguments we pass to `meson setup`,
as they were in incorrect order (docs say it should be buildir followed
by sourcedir); meson is apparently clever enough to figure this out and
switch the arguments around if necessary, so it didn't complain.

725e646854 meson: generate proper version tag when git fails on permission errors
When building with mkosi I would get the following:

    [1/477] Generating version.h with a custom command
fatal: detected dubious ownership in repository at '/work/src'
To add an exception for this directory, call:

git config --global --add safe.directory /work/src

and then the tag would be generated as 'v254-'. This is obviously some problem
with the setup, but we should handle this gracefully. Let's fall back to 'v254'
instead.

In the case where we have a repo but no tags, use --dirty=^ too, as in the case
with tags.

I tested four cases:
- normal checkout
- checkout with .git removed
- checkout with .git chowned to root
- checkout wiht all tags removed

3691e7fce7 man: add checks for missing version information
This adds a new script tools/check-version-history.py and a corresponding
test when building in developer mode. It checks manpages (except dbus
documentation which is handled by update-dbus-docs) for missing version
history information.

It also adds ignore lists based on version 183 (the version that our version
annotations go back to). These can be augmented if we want to ignore other
elements if it doesn't make sense for them to have version annotations.

898e9edc46 elf2efi: Add --copy-sections option
This makes the special PE sections available again in our output EFI
images.

Since the compiler provides no way to mark a section as not allocated,
we use GNU assembler syntax to emit the sections instead. This ensures
the section data isn't emitted twice as load segments will only contain
allocating input sections.

142f0c61a3 elf2efi: Rework ELF section conversion
The main reason we need to apply a whole lot of logic to the section
conversion logic is because PE sections have to be aligned to the page
size (although, currently not even EDK2 enforces this). The process of
achieving this with a linker script is fraught with errors, they are a
pain to set up correctly and suck in general. They are also not
supported by mold, which requires us to forcibly use bfd, which also
means that linker feature detection is easily at odds as meson has a
differnt idea of what linker is in use.

Instead of forcing a manual ELF segment layout with a linker script we
just let the linker do its thing. We then simply copy/concatenate the
sections while observing proper page boundaries.
Note that we could just copy the ELF load *segments* directly and
achieve the same result. Doing this manually allows us to strip sections
we don't need at runtime like the dynamic linking information (the
elf2efi conversion is effectively the dynamic loader).

Important sections like .sbat that we emit directly from code will
currently *not* be exposed as individual PE sections as they are
contained within the ELF segments. A future commit will fix this.

1a71ac07ad meson: restore tools/meson-vcs-tag.sh
This conceptually reverts e95acdfe1d,
but the actual contents of the script are taken from the command invocation
in meson with all the updates that happened in the meantime.

One small change is that I replaced () by {}: this avoids one subprocess spawn.
People were worried about the cost of vcs_tag(), and this microoptimization may
help a bit. I measured the speed on machine, and noop rebuilds are still about
100–120 ms.

The logic is entirely moved to the script. This makes the meson config simpler
and also makes it easier to use it externally.

The script is needed for in-place rpm builds, see README.build-in-place.md [1],
where it is invoked from the spec file to determine the project version.

7f9a0d6d74 meson: Drop skip-deps option
Now that we use meson feature options for our dependencies, we can just
rely on '--auto-features=disabled' to do the same. One benefit of this
is that specific features can still be force-enabled by overriding it
with the appropriate '-Dfeature=enabled' flag.

The two remaining uses for skip-deps can simply rely on their default
logic that sets the value to 'no' when the dependency is disabled.

a324a8958b meson: adjust whitespace handling in jinja2 rendering
In 6abe882bae the renderer was made to
unconditionally append a newline to output. This works, but is ugly. A nicer
solution is to tell jinja2 to not strip the newline in the first place, via
keep_trailing_newline=True. It seems that the result is unchanged because all
our source files have exactly one trailing newline.

Also, enable lstrip_blocks=True. This would cause whitespace on the line before
an {%if block to be automatically stripped. It seems reasonable to enable that
if trim_blocks=True.

Overall, no change is expected, though I didn't test combinations of
configurations, so there might be a change in some cases. But now the rules of
rendering are more logical, e.g. we should be able to indent nested conditional
statements without getting unexpected whitespace in the output.

aa314c87c5 Report version string as in the Boot Loader Spec, fix boot loader upgrades
We generate a "version string" that is reported by various tools. This patch
changes this version string to use the characters specified for the version
string in the Boot Loader Specification. We start using the special characters
we have in the spec for this exact purpose and thus fix version comparisons.
We also stop using '+' which is not part of the allowed charset and is used for
boot attempt counting and should not be part of the version string.

The version string is (among other places) used in sd-boot and the comparison
result is used by 'bootctl update' to decide whether to install a new binary.
Before, because 'nn-rc1' compares higher than 'nn', we would refuse to upgrade
pre-release versions.

The boot loader is the primary motivation. I'm not aware of programatic version
comparisons in other places, but it makes sense to use the same versions string
everywhere.

(This patch effectively only matters for non-distro builds, because distro
builds presumably use -Dversion-tag to set something meaningful. Ideally, those
version strings are compatible with our version strings, but this is outside of
our control.)

7e343b530e meson: Generate fuzzer inputs with directives
The lists of directives for fuzzer tests are maintained manually in the

phase and reports stale directive lists.
Let's rework the script into a generator so that these directive files
are created on-the-flight and needn't be updated whenever a unit file
directives change. The scripts is rewritten in Python to get rid of gawk
dependency and each generated file is a separate meson target so that
incremental builds refresh what is just necessary (and parallelize
(negligible)).

Note: test/fuzz/fuzz-unit-file/directives-all.slice is kept since there
is not automated way to generate it (it is not covered by the check
script neither).

41d992cf51 fuzz-network-parser: drop ".network" and shorten names
All fuzzer inputs as .network files. Some had the suffix, others didn't.
So drop it everywhere, and also shorten some other names.

ebd4541efe oss-fuzz: turn off fuzz-introspector
fuzz-introspector passes -fuse-ld=gold and -flto using CFLAGS/LDFLAGS and due to
https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/6377#issuecomment-575977919 and
https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/issues/6377 it doesn't mix well with meson.
It's possible to build systemd with duct tape there using something like
https://github.com/google/oss-fuzz/pull/7583#issuecomment-1104011067 but
apparently even with gold and lto some parts of systemd are missing from
reports (presumably due to https://github.com/google/oss-fuzz/issues/7598).
Let's just fail here for now to make it clear that fuzz-introspector isn't supported.

8f04a1ca2b meson: also allow setting GIT_VERSION via templates
GIT_VERSION is not available as a config.h variable, because it's rendered
into version.h during builds. Let's rework jinja2 rendering to also
parse version.h. No functional change, the new variable is so far unused.

I guess this will make partial rebuilds a bit slower, but it's useful
to be able to use the full version string.

ffb7406ba9 tests: add a smoke test for --version option in binaries
This is very similar to (and directly based on) the test for --help. I think
it's nice to do this: the test is very quick, but it'll catch cases where we
forgot to hook up the option, or forgot to exit after printing --version, and
it'll also increase our test coverage a bit.

e0a5fc7267 tools/git-contrib: list contributions not only from Weblate
It seems that --invert-grep used to affect --author, but now it doesn't (with
git-2.35.1-1.fc36.x86_64), so effectively we would only show the one entry that
was supposed to be filtered out.

77d45f1f83 meson: replace sh+find with an internal glob in the python helper
As suggested in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/22810#discussion_r831708052

This makes the whole thing simpler. A glob is passed to helper which then resolves
it on its own. This way it's trivial to call the helper with a different
set of files for testing.

3b9d38f5c8 tools/dbus_exporter: deblackify and shorten code a bit
When we do mkdir, we should just use 0o777 and let the umask take care of the
rest. Specifying an explicit mode is inappropriate. And when touching the code,
let's replace black madness with normal python style.

It's like CIFuzz but unlike CIFuzz it's compatible with forks and
it should make it possible to run the fuzzers to make sure that
patches backported to them are backported correctly without introducing
new bugs and regressions.

85ed912479 oss-fuzz: drop line-tables-only
It was copy-pasted directly from OSS-Fuzz where it makes sense to
kind of strip binaries to get nice backtraces but when the fuzzers
are built and run locally with gdb it would be nice to have a little
bit more than that.

It was initially discovered in elfutils where I put the same flags
and was surprised when I couldn't run the fuzzer comfortably step
by step, which led to the same change there: https://github.com/google/oss-fuzz/pull/7092
