3fe0fd20c9 udevadm/info: also show driver subsystem and device ID
This adds two more fields in 'udevadm info':
- J for device ID, e.g. b128:1, c10:1, n1, and so on.
- B for driver subsystem, e.g. pci, i2c, and so on.

These, especially the device ID field may be useful to find udev
database file under /run/udev/data for a device.

a6b4b2fa01 udev: Enable filtering the output of udevadm info --export-db
Let's support the same filtering options that we also support in
udevadm trigger in udevadm info to filter the devices produced by
--export-db.

One difference is that all properties specified by --propery-match=
have to be satisfied in udevadm info unlike udevadm trigger where just
one of them has to be satisfied.

d4bfb78bfc man: mention that udevadm verify also checks for udev rules style issues
Starting with commit acc1954a03, udevadm verify also checks token
delimiters, which are not necessarily a matter of udev rules syntax,
but rather a question of style and readability. Mention that in the
documentation to avoid confusion.

5356761da6 udev: implement --version in all builtins
Those are separate binaries, and occasionally people will get a misplaced
binary that doesn't match the rest of the installed system and be confused, so
it good to be able to check the version. It is also nice to have the same
interface in all binaries.

Note that we usually use a separate 'enum ARG_VERSION = 0x100' for an option
without a short name. We can use a less verbose approach of simply taking any
unused letter, which works just as well and even the compiler would warn us
if we tried to use the letter in another place. This way we avoid a few lines
of boilerplate.

The help texts are adjusted to have an empty line between the synopsis and
option list, and no empty lines after the option list.

acdba85e0e udevadm: introduce new 'verify' command
We seem to have no tool to verify udev rule files. There is a simple
udev rules syntax checker in the tree, test/rule-syntax-check.py, but
it is too simple to detect less trivial issues not detected by udev,
e.g. redundant comparisons (#26593) or labels without references.

Such a tool would be beneficial not only for maintaining udev rules
distributed along with udev, but also and even more so for maintaining
third party udev rules that are more likely to have issues with syntax
and semantic correctness.

Implement a udev rules syntax and semantics checker in the form of
'udevadm verify [OPTIONS] FILE...' command that is based on
udev_rules_parse_file() interface and would apply further checks
on top of it in subsequent commits.

Seems OK to me. The full stop is there and has been for at least a few years. And we use <option> for the markup, which is appropriate here.

> Man page: crypttab.5
> Issue 1: Missing fullstop
> Issue 2:  I<cipher=>, I<hash=>, I<keyfile-offset=>, I<keyfile-size=>, I<size=> → B<cipher=>, B<hash=>, B<keyfile-offset=>, B<keyfile-size=>, B<size=>

Same.

This is a bit awkward, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

It was correct, but I added a comma to make the sense clearer.

"one of" would sound strange. "One this and one that" is OK.

Fixed.

We use <filename>systemd-logind</> on subsequent references… I think that's good enough.

The first reference does this, subsequent are shorter.

The first reference does this. I also change this one, because it's pretty far down in the text.

Fixed tree-wide.

> Man page: systemd-cryptsetup-generator.8
> Issue: and the initrd → and in the initrd

"Is honoured by the initrd" is OK, because we often speak about the initrd as a single unit. But in the same paragraph we also used "in the initrd", which makes the other use look sloppy. I changed it to "in the initrd" everywhere in that file.

This is autogenerated from files… We use slightly different markup in different files, and it's just too hard to make it consistent. We gave up on this.

aa2b0d8d29 udevadm: introduce new 'wait' command
Prompted by https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/22717#issuecomment-1067348496.

The new command 'udevadm wait' waits for device or device symlink being

678f2b1667 udevadm: trigger: implement --initialized-match/nomatch arguments
systemd-udev-trigger.service by default triggeres all devices regardless
of whether they were already recognized by systemd-udevd.

There are machines (especially in embedded environments) where
systemd-udev-trigger.service is configured to run at a later stage of
the boot sequence, which can lead to quite a lot of devices being
triggered although they were already recognized by systemd-udevd.

Re-triggering a lot of devices is a relatively expensive operation and
therefore should be avoided if unnecessary.

Therefore this patch introduces --initialized-nomatch, which filters out
devices that are already present in the udev database. For consistance
reasons --initialized-match is implemented as well, which filters out devices
that are *not* already present in the udev database.

Replaces #19949.

730b9c1e14 udevadm: make use of the new uuid-enabled triggering for "udevadm trigger"
This adds two things:

- A new switch --uuid is added to "udevadm trigger". If specified a
random UUID is associated with the synthettic uevent and it is printed
to stdout. It may then be used manually to match up uevents as they
  propagate through the system.

- The UUID logic is now implicitly enabled if "udevadm trigger --settle"
is used, in order to wait for precisely the uevents we actually
trigger. Fallback support is kept for pre-4.13 kernels (where the
requests for trigger uevents with uuids results in EINVAL).
