One of the places where this was wrong was when parsing parametric

glusterfs:volfile_server option can be used in smb.conf to define where
to fetch the volfile from. Currently it supports only a single IP or a
hostname. The default is 'localhost'.
glfs_set_volfile_server() has been enhanced in gfapi to support
multiple invocations. A list is maintained in libgfapi which gets
appended on every invocation. When glfs_init is performed, libgfapi
would first try to fetch the volfile from glusterd on that node.
However, on failure to fetch the volfile, it would proceed to contact
glusterd on every node in the list until it gets the volfile or
exhausts the list. This enhacement was done in Gluster commit [2].
This commit is available in 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 versions of Gluster.
As we cannot have multiple lines having the same key of
glusterfs:volfile_server in a share definition in smb.conf, we propose
a scheme like this:
where value of glusterfs:volfile_server could be list of white space seperated
elements where each element could be unix+/path/to/socket/file or
[tcp+]IP|hostname|\[IPv6\][:port].
Note the restriction on naming a IPv6 host, it follows the same
restriction that is based on IPv6 naming in URL as per RFC 2732[1].

An implementation of https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2012-March/166497.html (which has been discussed in 2012, but was never implemented).
It has been tested on a Debian Jessie system with this patch added to the Debian package (which is currently 4.1.17). Even though this is Samba 4, the ntlm_auth installed is the one from Samba 3 (yes, it surprised me too). The backend was a machine with Windows 2012R2.
It was first tested with the local security policy 'Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level' setting changed to 'Send NTLMv2 Response Only' (allow ntlm v1). This way we are able to authenticate with and without the MSV1_0_ALLOW_MSVCHAPV2 flag (as expected).
After the basic step has been verified, the local security policy 'Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level' setting was changed to 'Send NTLMv2 Response Only. Refuse LM & NTLM' (only allow ntlm v2). The behaviour now changed according to the MSV1_0_ALLOW_MSVCHAPV2 flag (again: as expected).
$ ntlm_auth --request-nt-key --username=XXXXXXXXXXXXX --challenge=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX --nt-response=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX --domain=
Logon failure (0xc000006d)
$ ntlm_auth --request-nt-key --username=XXXXXXXXXXXXX --challenge=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX --nt-response=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX --domain= --allow-mschapv2
NT_KEY: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The changes in `wbclient.h` are intended for programs that use libwinbind directly instead of authenticating via `ntlm_auth`. I intend to use that within FreeRADIUS (see https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11149).

be thoroughly audited and/or fixed. And if it's neither maintained
nor widely used I'd rather have it removed.

vfs_fruit adds a wildcard path "._*" to the vetolist in order to prevent
client access to ._ AppleDouble files created internally by vfs_fruit
for storing the Mac resource fork stream.
Unfortunately there are legitimite use cases where an OS X client may
want to use such filenames, extracting ZIP archives (where the archive
contains ._ files) being one of them.
A possible simple solution to this problem would be to not veto ._ files
in the first place, even though that exposes internally created ._ files
which the client shouldn't be able to access.

- snap_delete

These VFS call-outs will be used in future by Samba's File Server Remote

MS-FSVRP states:
At any given time, Windows servers allow only one shadow copy set to
be going through the creation process.
Therefore, only provide synchronous hooks for now, which can be
converted to asynchronous _send/_recv functions when the corresponding

Based on <https://code.google.com/p/vfs-unityed-media/>.
The existing VFS module media_harmony has some problems relative to Avid
media sharing:
Avid looks at the modification time of the ingest directory. Since
media_harmony has everyone using the same directory, users (or client
systems) have to somehow create "fake" directories with special names
and then media_harmony returns the mod time of those fake directories
for the different clients rather than the actual mod time of the
communal ingest directory.
To make matters worse, users then have to have a special utility or
understand how to update the modtime on these specially named
directories. Otherwise, their client system will never update the
indexes to show new media.
To make it even worse than that, Avid creates new directories on the
fly, so you can't just set this up statically at the beginning. Avid
will silently create a new directory and your reindexing problems will
start all over until you create new fake directories.
With unityed_media:
* there are no reindexes between clients
* clients don't need to know which directories have been created for
them, it's automatic.
* clients never have to reindex other systems directories.
* unityed_media let's each client have their own directories.
* unityed_media works much more like Avid's own ISIS servers work.
A module option controls which name is appended to client specific
paths: the username, the hostname (will not work with OS X) or the
client's IP.

The gpfs_set_times API call allows setting timestamps directly in GPFS
without going through the utime() call. Using this API call fixes an
unecessary oplock break when a client sends a SET_FILE_ALLOCATION_INFO
request and no other client has opened the file. The call to utime()
triggers the oplock break through the Linux kernel. Using the
gpfs_set_times call for updating the timestamp avoids the call to
utime() and the oplock break.

The VFS interfaces are sychronous, as the operations only modify

These hooks are dependent on support for transparent compression by the

Support for other filesystems providing transparent comression, such as
Btrfs and ZFS, can be added in future.
The get_compression function takes fsp and smb_fname arguments. The
smb_fname argument is needed due to the current dosmode() code-path.
