341a401b48 handle being passed a dptr of -1 to mean "close all open dir handles". 
Looks like OS/2 does this. It caused a core dump.

b2a31c9e81 - use issafe() 
- map the archive bit in a more robust manner. We now set it when we
first write to the file after opening it.
