089cb9e24c lib: Pass blob instead of &blob to gencache_set_data_blob
Passing a whole DATA_BLOB is cheap enough to simplify the callers: A caller
does not have to create a separate variable.

1ce165a733 winbindd: let normalize_name_map() call find_domain_from_name_noinit()
Let normalize_name_map fetch the domain itself with
find_domain_from_name_noinit().

This removes two calls to find_domain_from_name_noinit() in the default
configuration of "winbind normalize names = no". The domain is only need

a8e0bdc971 winbindd: restore SEC_CHAN_NULL fallback in cm_connect_netlogon_transport
This partially reverts commit d7e31d9f4d
"winbindd: Use rpccli_connect_netlogon" and restores handling of SEC_CHAN_NULL.

Without this we fail to enumerate domains in trusted forests so users
from any child-domain (or tree-root) in the trusted forest can't login
via eg SMB.

This is a temporary hack that will go away once we get rid of the trusted domain
list.

d8a01d09c1 winbind: winbind_messaging_context -> server_messaging_context
Don't use winbind_messaging_context anymore.

This fixes a bug analysed by Peter Somogyi <PSOMOGYI@hu.ibm.com>: If a
parent winbind forks, it only called reinit_after_fork on
winbind_messaging_context. On the other hand, deep in dbwrap_open we use
server_messaging_context(). This is not reinitialized by
winbind_reinit_after fork, so the parent and child share a ctdb
connection. This is invalid, because replies from ctdb end up in the
wrong process.

e5251ee188 winbindd: Remove a misleading comment
The reality is a bit more complex than this comment indicates. We should never
suggest anywhere that we can connect to domains that we don't have a direct
trust account to. For the member case, it's "our" domain, and for the DC case,
it's the direct trusts. Everything else is pure luck.

108675c4cf winbindd: idmap_rid: don't rely on the static domain list
The domain list in the idmap child is inherited from the parent winbindd
process and may not contain all domains in case enumerating trusted

The previous commits added the domain SID as an additional argument to

So the name for S-1-5-21-3293503978-489118715-2763867031-1106 has
S-1-5-21-1387724271-3540671778-1971508351 in referenced lsa_DomainInfo
structure. In that case we should not use the domain name from lsa_DomainInfo,
because we would use the wrong idmap backend.

For the case where the domain part of the sIDHistory sid is a still existing
domain, which can be found our internal list of trusted domains, we now use the
correct idmap backend: the idmap domain from the historic SID.

If the historic domain does no longer exist, we will fallback to the default
idmap domain.

The next step would be doing a lookup sid call for the domain sid, which may
help with one-way trusts.

The long term goal needs to be that idmap backends are based on sids only and
only the smb.conf allows names to be used which will be converted to sids on
startup.

8220d7453f winbindd: remove fallback from lookuprids
We're only calling lookuprids for our local SAM and BUILTIN domains, if
that results in a failed lookup for some rid, sending it again via
lookupsids() won't help, it will just fail again.

If the caller wrongly had sent any other SID that is not from our SAM or
BUILTIN via lookuprids(), that it is up to the caller to fix that, not
us.

The retry logic with going through the single sids lookup at the end
added a fake domain with an empty string. The wb_lookupsids caller
wb_sids2xids needed this, as it wasn't doing the needed error handling
itself. As wb_sids2xids has been fixed to cope, we can just fail the

1efaeb072e winbindd: handling of SIDs without domain reference in wb_sids2xids_lookupsids_done()
This lets wb_sids2xids_lookupsids_done() deal with wp_lookupsids
returning UINT32_MAX as domain index for SIDs from unknown domains.

Call find_domain_from_sid_noinit() to search our list of known
domains. If a matching domain is found, use it's name, otherwise use the
empty string "". This needed to handle Samba DCs which always returns
sid_index UINT32_MAX for unknown SIDs, even from known domains.

Currently the wb_lookupsids adds these fake domains with an empty string
as domain name, but that's not the correct place to do it. We need the

a684df160e winbindd: use correct domain name for failed lookupsids
What we want here is, for failed lookupsids, pass the domain name of the
SID we were trying to lookup to the idmap backend.

But as a domain member, using

  state->single_domains[state->single_sids_done]

for this purpose will always be use our primary domain name (for S-1-5-21
SIDs that are not in our local SAM).

So for now use find_domain_from_sid_noinit() to find the domain from the
domain list. This can be removed when we switch idmap backend
determination to be based on domain SIDs, not names.

As WBFLAG_PAM_GET_PWD_POLICY is only kept for legacy external callers

The migration is done as part of the passdb_dsdb initialisation, calling

f9aaddcdd8 s3:winbindd: fix endless forest trust scan
Commit 0392ebcd1d effectively
disabled the enumeration of trusts in other forests.

The fixes for https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11691
changed the way we fill domain->domain_flags for domains
in other forests.

Commit fffefe72fc readded the
ability to enumerate trusts of other forests again, in order to
fix https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11830

Now we have the problem that multiple domains
(even outside of our forest) are considert to be
our forest root, as they have the following flags:
NETR_TRUST_FLAG_TREEROOT and NETR_TRUST_FLAG_IN_FOREST.

fffefe72fc s3:winbindd: try a NETLOGON connection with noauth over NCACN_NP against trusted domains.
We're using only NCACN_NP here as we rely on the smb signing restrictions
of cm_prepare_connection().

This should fix SMB authentication with a user of a domain
behind a transitive trust.

With this change winbindd is able to call
dcerpc_netr_DsrEnumerateDomainTrusts against the
dc of a trusted domain again. This only works
for two-way trusts.

The main problem is the usage of is_trusted_domain()
which doesn't know about the domain, if winbindd can't
enumerate the domains in the other forest.

is_trusted_domain() is used in make_user_info_map(),
which is called in auth3_check_password() before
auth_check_ntlm_password().

That means we're mapping the user of such a domain
to our own local sam, before calling our auth modules.

A much better fix, which removes the usage of is_trusted_domain()
in planed for master, but this should do the job for current releases.

We should avoid talking to DCs of other domains and always
go via our primary domain. As we should code with one-way trusts
also, we need to avoid relying on a complete list of
domains in future.

For now "wbinfo -m" lists domains behind a two-way transitive
trust again, but that is likely to change in future again!

causes useless network traffic and the following error:

While the old logic caused NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO (without
network traffic) instead of the NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT.

A better fix will follow.

cff1924130 idmap_ad: Restore querying SFU nss info
With the last commit the getpwsid call did not look at the winbind
nss info parameter anymore. This restores it for the idmap ad backend
with slightly different semantics and configuration: We now have the
unix_primary_group and unix_nss_info domain-specific parameters for
idmap config. This enables overriding the Windows primary group with
the unix one.

bce19a6efe winbind: Restructure wb_getpwsid
This patch moves the responsibility to create a winbind user from the
winbind backends into wb_queryuser.c. The name comes from lsa_lookupsids,
the uid from idmap. If we have a netsamlogon_cache, we get the primary
group sid from there. Without netsamlogon_cache, we default to -513, as
we do right now as default for non-reachable ADS domains anyway. Shell
and homedir default to template. This can all be done in the parent
without contacting any LDAP-related calls and is correct once we have
a netsamlogon_cache.

Once the parent has filled in the userinfo, the idmap child is queried
with the GetNssInfo call, taking the userinfo [in,out]. The child is
free to override the whole thing, something the AD backend will do in
the next patch.

2022ec8770 winbind: Add a GetNssInfo parent/child call
This call will be done in the idmap child. It is not 100% the right place,
but there is no better one available to me. It will become a replacement
for the "winbind nss info" parameter: This global parameter is good
for just one domain. It might be possible to have idmap backend AD for
different domains, and the NSS info like primary gid, homedir and shell
might be done with different policies per domain. As we already have a
domain-specific idmap configuration, doing the NSS info configuration
there also is the closest way to do it.

The alternative, if we did not want to put this call into the idmap child
would be to establish an equivalent engine like the whole "idmap config
*" just for the nss info. But as I believe this is closely related,
I'll just keep it in the idmap child.

This also extends the wbint_userinfo structure with pretty much all user
related fields. The idea is that the GetNssInfo call can do whatever it
wants with it.

Here we are in a transaction to create a range, but we already found

hit us with current code, as we just have one idmap child. However, if
we parallelize that, two children might have found a domain to not exist

the range, the other one will find it to already exist. The second child
