39b2bf0405 NFSv4.1: fix SP4_MACH_CRED protection for pnfs IO
[ Upstream commit 5cc7688bae ]

If the client is doing pnfs IO and Kerberos is configured and EXCHANGEID
successfully negotiated SP4_MACH_CRED and WRITE/COMMIT are on the
list of state protected operations, then we need to make sure to
choose the DS's rpc_client structure instead of the MDS's one.

9df654268a pNFS: Fix a hang in nfs4_evict_inode()
commit f63955721a upstream.

We are not allowed to call pnfs_mark_matching_lsegs_return() without
also holding a reference to the layout header, since doing so could lead
to the reference count going to zero when we call
pnfs_layout_remove_lseg(). This again can lead to a hang when we get to
nfs4_evict_inode() and are unable to clear the layout pointer.

pnfs_layout_return_unused_byserver() is guilty of this behaviour, and
has been seen to trigger the refcount warning prior to a hang.

7bc36ac671 NFS: Guard against READDIR loop when entry names exceed MAXNAMELEN
[ Upstream commit f67b55b658 ]

Commit 64cfca85ba asserts the only valid return values for
nfs2/3_decode_dirent should not include -ENAMETOOLONG, but for a server
that sends a filename3 which exceeds MAXNAMELEN in a READDIR response the
client's behavior will be to endlessly retry the operation.

We could map -ENAMETOOLONG into -EBADCOOKIE, but that would produce
truncated listings without any error. The client should return an error
for this case to clearly assert that the server implementation must be
corrected.

f979b92db1 NFSv4: Fix dropped lock for racing OPEN and delegation return
commit 1cbc11aaa0 upstream.

Commmit f5ea16137a ("NFSv4: Retry LOCK on OLD_STATEID during delegation
return") attempted to solve this problem by using nfs4's generic async error
handling, but introduced a regression where v4.0 lock recovery would hang.
The additional complexity introduced by overloading that error handling is
not necessary for this case. This patch expects that commit to be
reverted.

The problem as originally explained in the above commit is:

There's a small window where a LOCK sent during a delegation return can
race with another OPEN on client, but the open stateid has not yet been
updated. In this case, the client doesn't handle the OLD_STATEID error
from the server and will lose this lock, emitting:
    "NFS: nfs4_handle_delegation_recall_error: unhandled error -10024".

Fix this by using the old_stateid refresh helpers if the server replies
with OLD_STATEID.

7c9f5a14d9 NFSv4.1: freeze the session table upon receiving NFS4ERR_BADSESSION
[ Upstream commit c907e72f58 ]

When the client received NFS4ERR_BADSESSION, it schedules recovery
and start the state manager thread which in turn freezes the
session table and does not allow for any new requests to use the
no-longer valid session. However, it is possible that before
the state manager thread runs, a new operation would use the
released slot that received BADSESSION and was therefore not
updated its sequence number. Such re-use of the slot can lead

ac3a513d4f NFS: fix disabling of swap
[ Upstream commit 5bab56fff5 ]

When swap is activated to a file on an NFSv4 mount we arrange that the
state manager thread is always present as starting a new thread requires
memory allocations that might block waiting for swap.

Unfortunately the code for allowing the state manager thread to exit when
swap is disabled was not tested properly and does not work.
This can be seen by examining /proc/fs/nfsfs/servers after disabling swap
and unmounting the filesystem. The servers file will still list one
entry. Also a "ps" listing will show the state manager thread is still
present.

There are two problems.
 1/ rpc_clnt_swap_deactivate() doesn't walk up the ->cl_parent list to
find the primary client on which the state manager runs.

2/ The thread is not woken up properly and it immediately goes back to
sleep without checking whether it is really needed. Using
    nfs4_schedule_state_manager() ensures a proper wake-up.

4813dd737d NFSv4: Fix a potential state reclaim deadlock
[ Upstream commit 1ba04394e0 ]

If the server reboots while we are engaged in a delegation return, and
there is a pNFS layout with return-on-close set, then the current code
can end up deadlocking in pnfs_roc() when nfs_inode_set_delegation()
tries to return the old delegation.
Now that delegreturn actually uses its own copy of the stateid, it
should be safe to just always update the delegation stateid in place.

f2bd1cc1fe NFSv4.1: RECLAIM_COMPLETE must handle EACCES
commit e35a5e782f upstream.

A client should be able to handle getting an EACCES error while doing
a mount operation to reclaim state due to NFS4CLNT_RECLAIM_REBOOT
being set. If the server returns RPC_AUTH_BADCRED because authentication
failed when we execute "exportfs -au", then RECLAIM_COMPLETE will go a
wrong way. After mount succeeds, all OPEN call will fail due to an
NFS4ERR_GRACE error being returned. This patch is to fix it by resending
a RPC request.

cfde64bd31 NFSv4: Fix races in the legacy idmapper upcall
commit 51fd2eb52c upstream.

nfs_idmap_instantiate() will cause the process that is waiting in
request_key_with_auxdata() to wake up and exit. If there is a second
process waiting for the idmap->idmap_mutex, then it may wake up and
start a new call to request_key_with_auxdata(). If the call to
idmap_pipe_downcall() from the first process has not yet finished
calling nfs_idmap_complete_pipe_upcall_locked(), then we may end up
triggering the WARN_ON_ONCE() in nfs_idmap_prepare_pipe_upcall().

The fix is to ensure that we clear idmap->idmap_upcall_data before
calling nfs_idmap_instantiate().

8acc3e228e pNFS: Avoid a live lock condition in pnfs_update_layout()
[ Upstream commit 880265c77a ]

If we're about to send the first layoutget for an empty layout, we want
to make sure that we drain out the existing pending layoutget calls
first. The reason is that these layouts may have been already implicitly
returned to the server by a recall to which the client gave a
NFS4ERR_NOMATCHING_LAYOUT response.

The problem is that wait_var_event_killable() could in principle see the
plh_outstanding count go back to '1' when the first process to wake up
starts sending a new layoutget. If it fails to get a layout, then this
loop can continue ad infinitum...
