7af1974af0 ext4: fix ext4_fc_stats trace point
ftrace's __print_symbolic() requires that any enum values used in the
symbol to string translation table be wrapped in a TRACE_DEFINE_ENUM
so that the enum value can be decoded from the ftrace ring buffer by
user space tooling.

This patch also fixes few other problems found in this trace point.
e.g. dereferencing structures in TP_printk which should not be done
at any cost.

Also to avoid checkpatch warnings, this patch removes those
whitespaces/tab stops issues.

2bb8dd401a ext4: warn when dirtying page w/o buffers in data=journal mode
Recently I've got a report of BUG_ON trigerring during transaction
commit in ext4_journalled_writepage_callback() because we've spotted a
dirty page without buffers. Add WARN_ON_ONCE to
ext4_journalled_set_page_dirty() to catch the problematic condition
earlier where we have better chance of understanding which code path is
creating dirty data without preparing the page properly. Also update the
comment with current information when we are at it.

077d0c2c78 ext4: make mb_optimize_scan performance mount option work with extents
Currently mb_optimize_scan scan feature which improves filesystem
performance heavily (when FS is fragmented), seems to be not working
with files with extents (ext4 by default has files with extents).

This patch fixes that and makes mb_optimize_scan feature work
for files with extents.

Below are some performance numbers obtained when allocating a 10M and 100M
file with and w/o this patch on a filesytem with no 1M contiguous block.

27b38686a3 ext4: make mb_optimize_scan option work with set/unset mount cmd
After moving to the new mount API, mb_optimize_scan mount option
handling was not working as expected due to the parsed value always
being overwritten by default. Refactor and fix this to the expected
behavior described below:

*  mb_optimize_scan=1 - On
*  mb_optimize_scan=0 - Off
* mb_optimize_scan not passed - On if no. of BGs > threshold else off
* Remounts retain previous value unless we explicitly pass the option
   with a new value

cc5095747e ext4: don't BUG if someone dirty pages without asking ext4 first
[un]pin_user_pages_remote is dirtying pages without properly warning
the file system in advance. A related race was noted by Jan Kara in
2018[1]; however, more recently instead of it being a very hard-to-hit
race, it could be reliably triggered by process_vm_writev(2) which was
discovered by Syzbot[2].

This is technically a bug in mm/gup.c, but arguably ext4 is fragile in
that if some other kernel subsystem dirty pages without properly
notifying the file system using page_mkwrite(), ext4 will BUG, while
other file systems will not BUG (although data will still be lost).

So instead of crashing with a BUG, issue a warning (since there may be
potential data loss) and just mark the page as clean to avoid
unprivileged denial of service attacks until the problem can be
properly fixed. More discussion and background can be found in the
thread starting at [2].

5c93e8ecd5 ext4: fix underflow in ext4_max_bitmap_size()
when ext4 filesystem is created with 64k block size, ^extent and
^huge_file features. the upper_limit would underflow during the
computations in ext4_max_bitmap_size(). The problem is the size of block
index tree for such large block size is more than i_blocks can carry.
So fix the computation to count with this possibility. After this fix,
the 'res' cannot overflow loff_t on the extreme case of filesystem with
huge_files and 64K block size, so this patch also revert commit
75ca6ad408 ("ext4: fix loff_t overflow in ext4_max_bitmap_size()").

b3998b3bc6 ext4: improve fast_commit performance and scalability
Currently ext4_fc_commit_dentry_updates() is of quadratic time
complexity, which is causing performance bottlenecks with high
threads/file/dir count with fs_mark.

This patch makes commit dentry updates (and hence ext4_fc_commit()) path
to linear time complexity. Hence improves the performance of workloads
which does fsync on multiple threads/open files one-by-one.

bfdc502a4a ext4: fix ext4_mb_mark_bb() with flex_bg with fast_commit
In case of flex_bg feature (which is by default enabled), extents for
any given inode might span across blocks from two different block group.
ext4_mb_mark_bb() only reads the buffer_head of block bitmap once for the
starting block group, but it fails to read it again when the extent length
boundary overflows to another block group. Then in this below loop it
accesses memory beyond the block group bitmap buffer_head and results
into a data abort.

	for (i = 0; i < clen; i++)
		if (!mb_test_bit(blkoff + i, bitmap_bh->b_data) == !state)
			already++;

This patch adds this functionality for checking block group boundary in
ext4_mb_mark_bb() and update the buffer_head(bitmap_bh) for every different
block group.

w/o this patch, I was easily able to hit a data access abort using Power platform.

2d44292058 jbd2: remove CONFIG_JBD2_DEBUG to update t_max_wait
CONFIG_JBD2_DEBUG and jbd2_journal_enable_debug knobs were added in
update_t_max_wait(), since earlier it used to take a spinlock for
updating t_max_wait, which could cause a bottleneck while starting a
txn (start_this_handle()).

Since in previous patch, we have killed t_handle_lock completely, we
could get rid of this debug config and knob to let t_max_wait be
updated by default again.

f7f497cb70 jbd2: kill t_handle_lock transaction spinlock
This patch kills t_handle_lock transaction spinlock completely from
jbd2.

To explain the reasoning, currently there were three sites at which
this spinlock was used.

1. jbd2_journal_wait_updates()
   a. Based on careful code review it can be seen that, we don't need this
      lock here. This is since we wait for any currently ongoing updates
      based on a atomic variable t_updates. And we anyway don't take any
      t_handle_lock while in stop_this_handle().
      i.e.

	write_lock(&journal->j_state_lock()
	jbd2_journal_wait_updates() 			stop_this_handle()
		while (atomic_read(txn->t_updates) { 		|
		DEFINE_WAIT(wait); 				|
		prepare_to_wait(); 				|
		if (atomic_read(txn->t_updates) 		if (atomic_dec_and_test(txn->t_updates))
			write_unlock(&journal->j_state_lock);
			schedule();					wake_up()
			write_lock(&journal->j_state_lock);
		finish_wait();
	   }
	txn->t_state = T_COMMIT
	write_unlock(&journal->j_state_lock);

   b. Also note that between atomic_inc(&txn->t_updates) in
       start_this_handle() and jbd2_journal_wait_updates(), the
       synchronization happens via read_lock(journal->j_state_lock) in
       start_this_handle();

2. jbd2_journal_extend()
   a. jbd2_journal_extend() is called with the handle of each process from
      task_struct. So no lock required in updating member fields of handle_t

   b. For member fields of h_transaction, all updates happens only via
      atomic APIs (which is also within read_lock()).
      So, no need of this transaction spinlock.

3. update_t_max_wait()
   Based on Jan suggestion, this can be carefully removed using atomic
   cmpxchg API.
   Note that there can be several processes which are waiting for a new
   transaction to be allocated and started. For doing this only one
   process will succeed in taking write_lock() and allocating a new txn.
   After that all of the process will be updating the t_max_wait (max
   transaction wait time). This can be done via below method w/o taking
   any locks using atomic cmpxchg.
   For more details refer [1]

	   new = get_new_val();
	   old = READ_ONCE(ptr->max_val);
	   while (old < new)
		old = cmpxchg(&ptr->max_val, old, new);

cc16eecae6 jbd2: fix use-after-free of transaction_t race
jbd2_journal_wait_updates() is called with j_state_lock held. But if
there is a commit in progress, then this transaction might get committed
and freed via jbd2_journal_commit_transaction() ->
jbd2_journal_free_transaction(), when we release j_state_lock.
So check for journal->j_running_transaction everytime we release and
acquire j_state_lock to avoid use-after-free issue.

e3952fcce1 ext4: fix remount with 'abort' option
After commit 6e47a3cc68 ("ext4: get rid of super block and sbi from
handle_mount_ops()") the 'abort' options stopped working. This is
because we're using ctx_set_mount_flags() helper that's expecting an
argument with the appropriate bit set, but instead got
EXT4_MF_FS_ABORTED which is a bit position. ext4_set_mount_flag() is
using set_bit() while ctx_set_mount_flags() was using bitwise OR.

Create a separate helper ctx_set_mount_flag() to handle setting the
mount_flags correctly.

While we're at it clean up the EXT4_SET_CTX macros so that we're only
creating helpers that we actually use to avoid warnings.

Merge tag 'pidfd.v5.17-rc4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brauner/linux

Pull pidfd fix from Christian Brauner:
 "This fixes a problem reported by lockdep when installing a pidfd via
  fd_install() with siglock and the tasklisk write lock held in
  copy_process() when calling clone()/clone3() with CLONE_PIDFD.

  Originally a pidfd was created prior to holding any of these locks but
  this required a call to ksys_close(). So quite some time ago in
  6fd2fe494b ("copy_process(): don't use ksys_close() on cleanups") we
  switched to a get_unused_fd_flags() + fd_install() model.

  As part of that we moved fd_install() as late as possible. This was
  done for two main reasons. First, because we needed to ensure that we
  call fd_install() past the point of no return as once that's called
  the fd is live in the task's file table. Second, because we tried to
  ensure that the fd is visible in /proc/<pid>/fd/<pidfd> right when the
  task is visible.

  This fix moves the fd_install() to an even later point which means
  that a task will be visible in proc while the pidfd isn't yet under
  /proc/<pid>/fd/<pidfd>.

  While this is a user visible change it's very unlikely that this will
  have any impact. Nobody should be relying on that and if they do we
  need to come up with something better but again, it's doubtful this is
  relevant"

Pull ucounts fixes from Eric Biederman:
 "Michal Koutný recently found some bugs in the enforcement of
  RLIMIT_NPROC in the recent ucount rlimit implementation.

  In this set of patches I have developed a very conservative approach
  changing only what is necessary to fix the bugs that I can see
  clearly. Cleanups and anything that is making the code more consistent
  can follow after we have the code working as it has historically.

  The problem is not so much inconsistencies (although those exist) but
  that it is very difficult to figure out what the code should be doing
  in the case of RLIMIT_NPROC.

  All other rlimits are only enforced where the resource is acquired
  (allocated). RLIMIT_NPROC by necessity needs to be enforced in an
  additional location, and our current implementation stumbled it's way
  into that implementation"

b1e8206582 sched: Fix yet more sched_fork() races
Where commit 4ef0c5c6b5 ("kernel/sched: Fix sched_fork() access an
invalid sched_task_group") fixed a fork race vs cgroup, it opened up a
race vs syscalls by not placing the task on the runqueue before it
gets exposed through the pidhash.

Commit 13765de814 ("sched/fair: Fix fault in reweight_entity") is
trying to fix a single instance of this, instead fix the whole class
of issues, effectively reverting this commit.

7b1f781f2d Input: psmouse - set up dependency between PS/2 and SMBus companions
When we switch from emulated PS/2 to native (RMI4 or Elan) protocols, we
create SMBus companion devices that are attached to I2C/SMBus controllers.
However, when suspending and resuming, we also need to make sure that we
take into account the PS/2 device they are associated with, so that PS/2
device is suspended after the companion and resumed before it, otherwise
companions will not work properly. Before I2C devices were marked for
asynchronous suspend/resume, this ordering happened naturally, but now we
need to enforce it by establishing device links, with PS/2 devices being
suppliers and SMBus companions being consumers.
